She knew Daning was probably referring to the night she and Jingfeng had an "argunt."

Yang Danning knew Ji Anning was playing dumb, so she pinched her butt, "You’re pretending with ? Aren’t you two in a cold war after your fight?"

Ji Anning shook her head, "No, we made up."

They had never really had a cold war, after all. Cold wars were for people who were truly in love, right?

Looking back, from childhood to the present, they really hadn’t done anything that couples would do, except for symbolically holding hands.

Not even a single kiss.

"What?" Yang Danning exclaid, poking Ji Anning’s forehead in frustration, "You naive girl, just like that you made up with him? Did he create any surprises for you? Did he kneel down and ask for your forgiveness?"

Ji Anning teased her with a raised eyebrow, "Don’t you have a crush on my uncle?"

"Pfft!" Yang Danning stretched out her hand to poke Ji Anning’s forehead in annoyance, lanting, "You heartless girl, I’m asking out of concern for you, and you treat like a gossip junkie?"

Wasn’t she? Ji Anning pursed her lips, her eyes twinkling with mirth as she winked at Yang Danning.

Despite claiming otherwise, she loved gossip. When it ca to big stars in the entertainnt industry, she would chase down even the slightest hint of scandal to its source.

Ji Anning just smiled without a word, and Yang Danning’s face turned red all at once. She turned and continued walking forward, muttering as she went, "I really don’t know how you beca my best friend, Yang Danning. You’re so humorless, so dull."

Ji Anning didn’t argue but just nodded along.

Before going out to eat, she had to return her books to the dorm first. The path to the dormitory was a bit historic, flanked on both sides by tall, sturdy plane trees. In this season, the leaves were falling.

The rich scent of autumn caused a wave of lancholy that was hard to control.

Ji Anning lowered her head, absentmindedly kicking the leaves at her feet while Yang Danning rambled on about sothing.

Her enthusiasm was always so high.

...

"The programming departnt got a teacher so handso it’s breathtaking. I’m so jealous of those students."

"It’s all guys over there, such a waste."

Suddenly, a few girls walked past them, discussing the school’s newly arrived handso teacher.

I wonder how handso he is; their eyes were practically sparkling with little hearts.

"It must be your uncle."

Ji Anning was guessing it could be Ji Chicheng, when Yang Danning, already excited, grabbed her wrist, convinced those girls were talking about Ji Chicheng.

Ji Anning just smiled. Ji Chicheng indeed studied programming, having a passion for exploring gas since middle school and even trying to write simple gas in high school.

In their family, he was the only one who got to choose his major according to his preferences, a typical example of their grandfather’s favoritism.

Although Ji Anning also thought those girls were discussing Ji Chicheng, seeing Yang Danning so excited, she deliberately teased, "In your eyes, besides my uncle, there probably aren’t any other handso guys in the world, right?"

Yang Danning wasn’t embarrassed at all; instead, she held her head high with pride, "A breath-takingly handso programming teacher, who else could it be but your uncle?"

Just like those girls before, her eyes too were sparkling with little hearts.

Ji Anning rcilessly rolled her eyes at her and continued walking forward.

Leaving Miss Yang alone there in her lovesick daze.
