She looked at Ji Anning, examining her uncertainly.

Ji Anning pursed her lips slightly, giving her a not-so-obvious smile.

Then the old man’s voice sounded, "Anning, this is your second uncle, and this is your second aunty."

The elderly man directed Ji Anning’s attention toward the middle-aged man and the noblewoman beside him.

Upon hearing this, Ji Anning nodded politely to them, "Second Uncle, Second Aunty."

The Ji Family was actually a large clan, influential not just in Hai City but also in various places across the country.

Ji Anning vaguely rembered these two, the son and daughter-in-law of the old man’s brother, who were Ji Chicheng’s cousins. In the Capital City, she did not know exactly what they did, but she knew they were very wealthy.

"This child has grown even more beautiful. It has been about four or five years since I last saw her," the noblewoman remarked, looking at Ji Anning’s face. She then turned to the old man, her voice filled with emotion as she started a nostalgic conversation, "Ti really flies. I rember the year this child ca to our Ji Family, so thin and small, and now she’s all grown up, about to get married."

Ji Zhengdao chuckled, "Exactly, you and Weidong are already cradling grandchildren."

As he spoke, the old man couldn’t help himself and gently poked the rosy cheek of the child next to him.

Ji Weidong replied with a smile, "Uncle, you’re almost holding a great-grandchild."

"Not just a great-grandchild, when Chicheng gets married, you’ll be cradling another grandchild."

"I don’t know if I will live long enough to see that fortune," the old man shook his head, his lips tightly pursed, and his expression aningful.

Unable to bear any ntion of Ji Chicheng, let alone discussions of his future children, Ji Anning’s heart ached.

She forced a smile and addressed the old man, "Grandfather, I am going to go upstairs to change my clothes."

"Go ahead," Ji Zhengdao responded to Ji Anning, then turned to Ruoqian who was sitting on a small sofa playing with her phone, and instructed, "Ruoqian, go upstairs and tell your uncle to co down for dinner."

Ruoqian, deeply engrossed in her ga, frowned in displeasure, "I won’t go, Ji Anning is going upstairs anyway. Why don’t you just have her call him while she’s at it?"

Having said this, she stubbornly bowed her head again and continued playing her ga.

Lin Yanqin, upset and wanting to scold Ruoqian, was about to speak when Ji Jingfeng, who had been coldly observing Ji Anning all along, suddenly spoke up.

"Yeah, I’ll go up and call with Anning."

He slowly stood up, straightened his suit with both hands, and walked toward Ji Anning with a slight smile.

"Alright," the old man nodded, his gaze swiftly sweeping over Ji Anning before returning to entertain the child beside him.

"Anning, I will accompany you upstairs," Ji Jingfeng walked up to Ji Anning, took her hand, and his smile, which seed gentle to others, appeared on his face.

"These two kids grew up together, so close, it’s both rare and enviable."

"And Jingfeng is really a down-to-earth young man."

"Of course, the children of the Ji family, none are not down-to-earth."

Ji Weidong and his wife were discussing this when Ji Zhengdao’s expression turned slightly unpleasant, but he continued to bow his head and play with the child.

"I always say, there aren’t many won who aren’t vain."

Upon reaching upstairs, Ji Jingfeng let go of Ji Anning’s hand and sarcastically whispered to her.

Ji Anning ignored him, quickened her steps, and reached the door of her room. She reached out to open the door, but Ji Jingfeng suddenly ca up and grabbed her wrist, "Grandfather asked us to call uncle to co down for dinner."
