Mrs. Wu also gave her a slight smile, "Then just tell when you’re hungry."

Ji Anning nodded, then turned and continued upstairs.

Mrs. Wu had been with the Ji Family for several decades now, a trusted confidante of the old master, so naturally, no one doubted her word.

Ji Ruoqian didn’t dare to press Ji Anning further, she picked up her slippers, put them on, and went downstairs again, muttering with dissatisfaction as she walked, "Why has Grandpa suddenly started caring so much about Ji Anning, even more than his own granddaughter?"

Lin Yanqin was also frustrated, unable to vent her anger anywhere, and replied casually, "He’s beco senile, that’s all."

Ji Xiangting quickly frowned and scolded her, "Mom, can you keep it down?"

Lin Yanqin snorted coldly, "From childhood, he wouldn’t give a second glance to this adopted granddaughter, and now suddenly he values her so much? If it’s not senility, then what is it?"

She had thought perhaps the old master was considering giving up on the second branch of the family and letting Ji Chicheng take over.

But now, it seed that things were not as she had imagined, and she felt stifled. She turned to Ji Ruoqian with a glare, "It’s because you’re not competitive enough, always failing to asure up."

Ji Ruoqian argued back at her, "How is that my fault?"

"..."

The mother and daughter took out their irritations on each other, arguing. Ji Xiangting sat to the side, gaze fixated on the second floor, her eyebrows knitted in thought.

Ji Anning returned to her room, locked the door from the inside, and paid no heed to the world outside the window.

After taking a bath, she changed into comfortable pajamas, put on her headphones, hugged her phone, and leant against the headboard.

She hadn’t drawn the curtains, so with just a glance, she could see the neighboring balcony. She raised her phone and took a picture, sending it to Ji Chicheng.

"Uncle, I’m back ho. When I entered, Ji Ruoqian bullied , and I fought back. If Grandpa blas , you’ll protect , right?"

She thought for a mont, then sent another ssage, "Actually, better not protect , it could raise Grandpa’s suspicions."

Having sent the two ssages, Ji Anning hugged her phone, waiting for Ji Chicheng’s reply.

But as ti passed by the second, and her phone remained silent, she beca so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open.

Overwheld with fatigue, her body slowly lay down...

Although she fell asleep waiting, the sleep turned out to be deep and fulfilling, leaving her languid and unwilling to open her eyes.

She turned over, preparing to mull things over for a mont.

Suddenly, sothing felt amiss; she reached out her hand and felt the ’blanket’ beneath her feet brush against her.

It was a person!

Ji Anning jolted awake, opening her eyes to see that the room’s curtains were tightly drawn, shrouding the space in deep darkness.

All objects could barely be made out by their outlines, including... the man lying beside her, a man.

Was she dreaming?

Ji Anning blinked in disbelief, then blinked again, but the man was still there.

No... this wasn’t right; she had returned to the Ji Family last night, she should be at the Ji Family now, and he was still in M Country.

"Morning!"

Ji Anning couldn’t sort out whether she was in a dream or reality, and just then the man beside her suddenly spoke.

He asked a simple ’morning’, then turned his head and looked at her expressionlessly, "Aren’t you going to kiss ?"

This wasn’t a dream, it was real, really him!

Ji Anning gasped in surprise, "Uncle..."

She called out in astonishnt, then realizing sothing, quickly covered her mouth, lowering her voice, "When did you get back?"

Without waiting for Ji Chicheng to reply, it dawned on her and she scrambled up to a sitting position, scanning the room, her room...

Had this guy lost his mind?

"Uncle, you..."
