’Ding’
A sudden text ssage alert from the phone in her pocket. She pulled it out and glanced at the screen.
The words ’demon’ tugged at her heart.
She could see the entire ssage on the screen, "You don’t like how domineering I am, so I’ll keep it low-key next ti. If you need anything, find Xiang Yiqing. I’ll pick you up when I return."
After reading the text, Ji Anning let out a chuckle that morphed into tears, her eyes reddened and misted over, blurring her vision.
She stared at the ssage repeatedly, every word... even the punctuation marks, warming her heart.
...
He had dropped urgent work to return to China, and his employees were all frantic.
Seeing Ji Chicheng erge from the exit, the beautiful mixed-race secretary imdiately approached, "Boss, the new proposal is out, but..."
She hesitated, appearing timid and reluctant to speak. Ji Chicheng frowned, "But what?"
His tone betrayed impatience.
The secretary no longer dared to hesitate, "But there’s been a problem with the venue."
After she spoke, she paused to gauge Ji Chicheng’s expression. He stopped in his tracks, a fleeting suspicion flashing in his eyes before he instructed the secretary, "Continue."
He resud his pace, his handso face unexpectedly calm, surprising the secretary with the lack of a chill in the atmosphere.
In the second that the secretary tried to read his expression, she gained confidence, "Miss Lisa has changed her mind out of the blue. She says she will only negotiate if you personally et her."
Having said it all at once, she was actually nervous, her gaze cautiously observing Ji Chicheng’s face, waiting for his reaction and response.
"OK, prepare my itinerary," Ji Chicheng nodded indifferently, not breaking his stride. He exited the arrival gate and t his driver, heading straight for their car.
"Oh!"
His calm deanor left the secretary continuously surprised, frozen for a mont before she nodded, "Yes."
Once in the car, Ji Chicheng couldn’t wait to take out his phone, turn it on, and dial Ji Anning’s number, but the reply he got was that the other party was on another call.
He didn’t frown; he hung up the call and sent Ji Anning a ssage instead, "Who are you talking to?"
After sending the ssage, he locked the screen. Both the lock screen and the ho screen were photos of Ji Anning. He caught a glimpse unintentionally and couldn’t help but smile.
A gentle and indulgent smile played on his lips, quietly rippling—an expression the secretary who had just entered the car caught.
Taken aback, the secretary observed Ji Chicheng’s handso face for a mont before speaking cautiously, "Boss, Chanel’s new winter collection is out. Do we purchase it as usual?"
"Hmm."
Ji Chicheng initially nodded instinctively but then seed to rember sothing, and raised his head to address the secretary, "No need, don’t ask about it ever again."
When he said no need, it ant no need. The secretary didn’t dare show any curiosity or confusion, she simply nodded, "Okay."
Imdiately after, she reported her work, "Boss, according to my friend close to Miss Lisa, her sudden change of mind regarding our partnership may be related to a friend of hers from China."
At this news, Ji Chicheng shifted his gaze away from the phone screen, looked up at Lisa, and signaled with his eyes for her to elaborate.
"Miss Lisa has a friend from China who ca here to study and is hosting a welco party, inviting all Chinese students from F College."
