His face was stern, and his authority was fully displayed.
It didn’t seem like he was coddling her, and after all, he was such a revered figure, admired by so many; how could he possibly co to coax her – a granddaughter-in-law who hadn’t yet joined the family?

He looked at Ji Anning, his eyes filled with relief tinged with guilt.
Ji Anning could see it but couldn’t understand it, the sudden change in the old man’s attitude towards her, the guilt he felt.
Since the old man had said so much, it didn’t feel right for her to remain silent. "Grandpa, don’t say that. If it weren’t for you, my parents would never have made it to this day."
That was both a formality and the truth.
On hearing Ji Anning’s words, Ji Zhengdao’s sowhat clouded eyes sparkled with excitent. He seed eager to say sothing but didn’t open his mouth for a long ti.
After a while, he averted his gaze, lowered his head, and in that mont, his face, weathered by the years, seed so helpless.
He took a small sip of tea with his head down and then looked up again, his expression once more gentle. Looking at Ji Anning, his voice was also very soft, "Stay for a few days and then go back. Your wedding with Jingfeng is called off for now."
"Called off?" Anning looked at Ji Zhengdao in astonishnt.
Hadn’t the old man co today to persuade her to return?
Thinking over everything up to this point, she suddenly wondered if the old patriarch had made this personal visit because of the impending wedding originally planned with Ji Jingfeng. Perhaps the old man was adamant in not letting Ji Jingfeng and Bai Guo be together, possibly still trusting fortunetelling and not willing to take the risk.

Such a significant concession... Ji Anning stared at the old man, mouth slightly agape, bewildered and surprised.
Not forcing them and giving them the freedom to choose after they graduate from university!
Ji Anning felt as if she was dreaming. Was the man sitting opposite her really the stern grandfather from the Ji Family who had imposed many cruel rules on her?
