Chapter 1227: Chapter 1227: Raging rcury Flows Eastward (2)
An Yiqing’s sudden recovery of mory made An Zhifeng and the others extrely excited, even Yin Xilin’s mood brightened a little.
After their initial excitent subsided, An Yiqing and the group resud their journey toward the ancient tomb.
As everyone ventured deeper, the surrounding mist grew increasingly dense, the suffocating sll becoming unmistakable with each breath.
“What’s that sll? It’s like the smog in Xuandu City,” Tan Yulin grumbled, covering his nose.
“This is a kind of miasma unique to Dawang Mountain. Breathing too much of it is harmful to the body, so try to take fewer breaths. The entrance to the ancient tomb is nearby,” Yin Xilin said.
With that, Yin Xilin pointed toward a faint triangular shape erging from the mist. “That’s the marker for the ancient tomb’s entrance. We’re almost there.”
As soon as everyone saw it, they picked up their pace and hurried forward.
It wasn’t long before they reached the entrance to the ancient tomb.
An Zhifeng carefully examined the sheepskin scroll in his hands, flipping it back and forth, then exclaiming in amazent, “Thank goodness Little girl Ling led the way, otherwise we’d never have found this place in a lifeti!”
The ancient tomb was located within a cave—a cave inside a cave. The larger external cave was concealed by wild grass, making it nearly impossible for an outsider unfamiliar with the area to discover it.
The tomb’s entrance was unremarkable, ford by a few piled stones. Yin Xilin expertly moved the stones aside, revealing a hole in the ground.
“This is the mandatory passage into the ancient tomb. Going in is easy, but surviving inside… well, that’ll depend on everyone’s skills,” Yin Xilin remarked.
An Yiqing chuckled as she reached over to pat her head. “Young girl, don’t talk like an elder at such a young age. With your master protecting you, you’ll be just fine.”
Yin Xilin blushed, her face turning a shade of red. She nodded awkwardly before leading the way inside.
Descending through the ground-level opening, the group was greeted by a long staircase. The stairs were steep and high, carrying traces of dampness.
“Master, the steps are slippery, be careful.” Yin Xilin cautioned uneasily.
An Yiqing nodded, and with Gu Yelin’s support, she carefully began descending the stairs.
It took the group about three or four minutes to fully reach the bottom.
At the end of the long staircase, a spacious hall ca into view. Built entirely of sturdy stone, the hall was bare and devoid of any decorations. Yin Xilin approached one side of the room, reached out to touch the wall, briefly probing it before gripping sothing and turning it lightly.
The sound of stone grinding against stone echoed as the previously solid wall gradually split apart, revealing a gap. A massive door then erged before the group.
“Beyond this door lies the first layer. I’ve never gone any deeper than this,” Yin Xilin said.
An Yiqing pulled Yin Xilin to shield her behind, and An Zhifeng’s group stepped into the door first. Just as they entered, an acrid sll rushed toward them, stinging their eyes.
“Boss, it’s fine. Co on in,” Tan Yulin called out nonchalantly, taking a few bold breaths of the reeking air. Feeling smug, he thought to himself, *With Xiao Qing here, who cares about poison or stink? It’s all irrelevant!*
Gu Yelin supported An Yiqing, while An Yiqing held Yin Xilin’s hand. The trio—two adults and a child—appeared to stroll leisurely as they stepped through the door.
Once everyone had entered, a sudden noise of shifting stone ca from behind. They turned to look back, only to see the massive door rapidly sealing shut!
“Damn! It closed? How are we supposed to get out now?”
Cao Xiaosha eyed Tan Yulin, who was already feeling around the room, and couldn’t help but ask, “What are you looking for?”
“Isn’t it obvious?! A chanism, of course! If there’s no chanism, how else can we get out?” Tan Yulin retorted.
Upon hearing this, Cao Xiaosha imdiately joined him, and the two set to work searching together.
