Chapter 1210: Chapter 1210 Dragon Taming Clan (7)

Just as the words fell, a sultry voice rose behind Gu Yelin.

"Oh my! Since when did our Third Young Master Gu turn into a housemaid? Hey, little girl, you’ve really got quite the charm, haven’t you? Even cold-hearted Gu Yelin is trained into submission by you. So, what do you think of , little girl? Care to train

as well?"

No need to ask—such a seductive voice could only belong to that rake, Bai Yiming.

An Yiqing couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth in exasperation, then rolled her eyes fiercely. Her hazy eyes shifted toward the direction where Bai Yiming was speaking.

"Young Master Bai, I wouldn’t dare. You’ve got so many pink-hued soulmates that I’m worried they’d turn into pink skeletons and devour . I’m a wounded person right now—I can’t take the scare."

"Ha! Can’t take the scare? Little girl, your guts have always been bigger than anyone’s, and now you dare to claim you’re easily spooked? Hmm, ever since you got injured, you’ve beco a lot more amusing than before."

An Yiqing and Bai Yiming sparred back and forth, their words sharp. For a mont, the exchange was nothing short of exhilarating.

After a while, Bai Yiming, who had been left speechless by An Yiqing, suddenly broke into laughter, a laugh full of unconcealed satisfaction.

"Bravo! Truly delightful! Bickering with you, little girl, is one of life’s greatest pleasures! You have no idea how suffocated I’ve felt during the ti you were missing! You’re the only one who matches my taste!"

An Yiqing rolled her eyes again, internally grumbling—if this Bai Yiming wasn’t begging to be tornted, she didn’t know who was. Soday, soone like a wild tigress was bound to co along and deal with him.

As they spoke, the guests arriving for the banquet gradually stread into the venue. Gu Yelin had fetched pastries and drinks for An Yiqing but was soon sward by a group eager to ingratiate themselves.

He could have dismissed the group and focused solely on keeping An Yiqing company, but his beloved had issued an ultimatum—no disrupting her tonight.

Unable to resist, he had no choice but to face the gawking crowd with an icy expression, sending chills down their spines. Trapped between staying and leaving, these sycophants sohow ended up sweating in the air-conditioned hall.

The guests were nearly all present, leaving only a few minutes until the banquet started.

Miss Qian, led downstairs by Old Master Qian, descended gracefully. Soon followed the customary pleasantries and formal opening remarks of the evening.

Since An Yiqing couldn’t see, she decided not to indulge in the excitent. She remained seated on the sofa instead, sipping her drink and enjoying pastries, utterly at ease.

However, that comfort was short-lived, quickly shattered once the banquet began by those harboring malice.

The first to step forward were two wealthy young ladies. The families of these won were considered prominent, though falling short compared to the An Family, they still carried weight in Xuandu City.

In these won’s minds, An Yiqing was always the "golden child" of soone else’s family, forever perched on high and keeping them firmly beneath her heel.

"Oh, isn’t this First Miss of Xuandu City, Miss An? How co Young Master Gu isn’t here?"

An Yiqing felt as if a crow were cawing incessantly near her ear. She discreetly rubbed at the goosebumps forming on her skin, all while not raising her head.

Her reaction seed like cowardice in the eyes of the two won. They were convinced An Yiqing, having lost her mory and her sight, had long since lost her forr ruthlessness and aura.

This emboldened them even more.

"Xiaoying, what’s the point of ntioning Young Master Gu? Miss An is about to have her engagent to the Gu Family called off. Young Master Gu is obviously too busy to waste ti on a woman who’s about to beco his ex-fiancée. Besides, look at how attentive he’s already been—serving tea and fetching water earlier. Isn’t that considerate enough?"

"Called off? Impossible!" Xiaoying feigned shock, gasping dramatically. "Miss An is the An Family’s one and only treasure! How could the Gu Family have the audacity to call off the engagent?"

"What’s there not to dare? In our elite circles, no matter how much elders favor and dote upon you, it’s only because you have value. Miss An may have been the ultimate debutante once, cold and calculating—Old Master An naturally treasured her. But now? Haha, I don’t need to spell it out; surely you understand."

An Yiqing bit down on the straw in her cup, glaring discreetly. Understand? Understand your nonsense!

"I told you. Young Master Gu and Miss An used to be inseparable; and today, he can so easily leave her behind?" Xiaoying said. "Turns out this is why. Tell us, Miss An, what’s she going to do after her engagent gets called off? Surely Young Master Gu must’ve already..."—she hesitated with a suggestive smirk—"slept with her? What’s next for her?"

Their malicious laughter rang out—mocking and full of ridicule. Although chastity was no longer considered important in this day and age, An Yiqing’s situation was unique. She had been with Gu Yelin after all—no man would dare marry a woman Gu Yelin had laid hands upon.

As the pair’s taunts grew ever more excessive, An Yiqing kept her head down, her shoulders faintly trembling as if crying, emboldening them further.

And then, an unexpectedly sharp voice addressed the two from behind.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Even if Miss An is about to have her engagent annulled, how dare you insult her like this?"

With that, Huang Yiyi, dressed in a bright yellow puffed gown, stord over, planting herself protectively in front of An Yiqing like a mother hen shielding her chick.

To the unknowing, her deanor might suggest an inseparable bond with An Yiqing.

But clearly, these two socialites were intimately familiar with Huang Yiyi’s long-standing feud with An Yiqing. More than willing to play along, they eagerly ran with the act.

"Ah, yes, Miss Huang is right. We were in the wrong. Even if Miss An is facing an annulnt, she’s still the An Family’s darling—clearly we ought not gossip so freely."

"Humph! She’s just a castaway now; what’s the big deal about talking? No need to be that upset." The other woman countered.

Yellow dress billowing, Huang Yiyi squared her shoulders and raised her voice so much you’d think she wanted the entire room to hear her.

"How can you be so cruel? Even if Miss An is being rejected by the Gu Family, she’s still the An Family’s only treasure! She might’ve been missing for days, and god knows who might have taken her in during that ti, but she remained top of mind for Young Master Gu, who ultimately found her again! So what if she’s blind now, or has lost her mory? Even if she’s no longer talented enough, Miss An could still charm a room full of n with her beauty alone!"

A woman who had followed Huang Yiyi feigned shock, covering her mouth exaggeratedly as she remarked, "Oh no! Now that you ntion it, Yiyi, I hadn’t even realized. When Miss An went missing, blind and mory-stripped, who found her anyway? Was it a man or a woman? Don’t tell

during her ti in the wilderness she ended up living with..."

"Enough nonsense! Shut your mouth!"

The woman’s words were abruptly silenced by a cold, proud voice from behind.

Still keeping her head bowed, An Yiqing allowed a subtle yet aningful smile to cross her lips.
