The two sat side by side. The young girl was petite, and sitting down, she only reached his shoulder. As he looked down at her from above, he noticed her eyelashes were coated with a layer of water droplets, and her eyes gradually turning red.

Soon after, ng Heming saw a few teardrops fall onto the girl’s pants, slowly soaking in and forming a dark black patch.

"Crying?" ng Heming softened his voice.

An Yin forced herself to remain calm, turning her head away, not wanting the man to see her vulnerability. After wiping away a tear, she shook her head.

Her long hair scattered across her shoulders and back. As she shook her head, her black hair swayed in the air, forming a semicircular arc.

Pedestrians ca and went endlessly on the sidewalk.

Vehicles were parked on the road, and sounds from outside couldn’t penetrate in. Even the passing pedestrians couldn’t see into the car. Still, such a luxurious Bentley parked on a crowded street inevitably drew many curious glances.

All these years, ng Heming lived a solitary life. Other than Uncle Ma, who was sowhat close, the rest were just servants. Knowing he liked peace and quiet, the people in the Residence rarely disturbed him, so the whole An Residence always felt lifeless and dead.

The driver sat in front, and upon hearing a faint sobbing sound, couldn’t help but worry for the young girl, fearing that Mr. ng would scold her. The girl seed timid and fragile, not able to withstand criticism.

While the driver was on edge, ng Heming’s feelings were equally complex.

He had never experienced this kind of sensation, like soone had punched him a few tis, but he was powerless to retaliate, swallowing the resentnt down into his stomach.

An Yin sobbed intermittently for tens of seconds, and when she was about to speak, her face was both shy and embarrassed.

"No more crying." ng Heming’s dark eyes fell on her swollen eyelids.

"Mm." An Yin responded softly, "Sorry, I couldn’t hold back."

Having to compensate so much money at once, for An Yin, it was as if the sky had fallen.

Seeing she had stopped crying, ng Heming felt sowhat relieved. To ease her sadness, he cheerfully said, "Haven’t eaten yet? Can I treat you to lunch?"

An Yin looked at him with her watery eyes, like a clear spring, pure and flawless, "Thank you for your kindness, I want to go back to school." At this mont, she really wasn’t in the mood to eat, especially since they were just chance acquaintances. How could she accept his invitation for a al?

Seeing her depressed, ng Heming felt uncomfortable as well. This feeling was so peculiar. He wasn’t soone who sympathized with others. He had grown accustod to being cold-hearted over the years. He could only attribute these changes to: The girl’s eyes looked so much like hers!

So, every ti he saw the girl, he would feel a sense of closeness.

"Since what’s done is done, there’s no need to dwell on it. You can earn the money back slowly in the future." ng Heming tried to comfort her.

An Yin looked at him, hesitation in her eyes.

"What do you want to say?" From her flickering eyes, ng Heming saw a hint of stubbornness.

"I’m leaving." An Yin spoke up.

ng Heming saw the sorrow between her brows. He knew the words she originally wanted to say were surely not these.

He guessed right.

Under the man’s comfort, a surge of emotions suddenly welled up in An Yin. She wanted to confide the family’s current plight to him, but when she saw his noble and proud posture, she ultimately chose to distance herself.

The man seed to live in a different world from hers, people who shouldn’t have intersected. With this negative thought, An Yin t his concerned gaze and murmured, "Goodbye!"

Having said that, she pushed open the car door.

After the young girl got out, the mont the car door closed, ng Heming’s eyes instantly turned icy. The girl, before leaving, was despondent, indicating the recent events had a significant impact on her.

Through the car window, he watched the young girl lost and dejected blend into the crowd.

"Bring her back into the car." ng Heming watched her absent-minded state, his dark eyes deep, the words he uttered carrying a hint of dominance.

"Okay, Mr. ng."

The driver hurried out. Luckily, the driver had been watching through the rearview mirror as the girl got out. Upon hearing Mr. ng’s command, he stepped quickly.

In less than a minute, he brought An Yin back into the car.

Re-entering the car, An Yin looked at him, puzzled, "Is there anything else?"

On ng Heming’s cold face flowed an emotion that was hard to detect, "I’ll take you back to school."

"No need, I can take the bus back." An Yin politely declined.

"I happen to be going out to handle so affairs, and maybe I’ll pass by your school." When ng Heming spoke, his expression was calm and composed, "Which university do you attend?"

"T University." An Yin spoke honestly.

"What a coincidence, I happen to pass by." ng Heming replied unhurriedly.

An Yin, "..." She felt sothing was off but couldn’t pinpoint it.

The driver held the steering wheel with a content look, his lips curving into a faint smile at so point. As Mr. ng’s driver, he was aware enough. Without waiting for Mr. ng’s word, he started the car towards T University.

As the car started, the scenery outside the window flashed by. By the ti An Yin noticed, the car had already driven several hundred ters.

An Yin turned her head to glance at the man beside her, just as she caught his gazing eyes. Heart in a fluster, she turned her head and even her sitting posture beca constrained.

ng Heming noticed her tension, and to ease the atmosphere between them, he casually said, "When you’re out, rember to be cautious. Don’t just believe what others say. If you’re really unsure, call the police."

Faced with his earnest advice, An Yin felt a mont of disorientation.

"Your tone is just like my mom’s." An Yin blurted out.

Once she said it, she realized the inappropriateness of her words. They were not related at all; how could she speak in such an intimate tone?

"Then you must obey your mother."

Looking at her innocent appearance, the girl must have grown up in a happy family. Her mother must love her dearly, which made her smile lightly when ntioning her mother, perhaps without even realizing it herself.

"If what’s said makes sense, I listen." An Yin said candidly.

She and Mrs. An had always respected each other, so they got along very well over the years, with even the smallest quarrels being rare.

"And if what’s said doesn’t?"

Listening to the stories between her and her mother, ng Heming felt his blood rushing throughout his body.
