"Don’t..."
"Don’t... Bao Shaojin... don’t co over..."
The small dorm room echoed with soft, helpless sounds escaping from An Yin’s lips.
Clearly, she was trapped in a nightmare.
Shi Qing was a light sleeper, and when she heard murmurs by her ear, she suddenly opened her eyes, finding An Yin not far away, murmuring a man’s na.
From An Yin’s words, it was not difficult to tell that the man had done sothing to An Yin that frightened her.
Shi Qing turned her body, removed her oversized black-fra glasses and placed them beside her pillow. Listening to the occasional mutterings from An Yin, a complex emotion swept through Shi Qing’s heart.
After all, for An Yin to say such things, it was evident that Mr. Bao had done sothing quite excessive to her.
Shi Qing picked up her phone for a glance; it was past three in the morning. Her sleep disturbed, she was no longer sleepy.
The next morning.
After An Yin reluctantly got out of bed, she found Shi Qing still lying there. Her stretching motion froze as she looked at her in surprise, "Shi Qing?"
Having shared the dorm with her for so long, An Yin had never seen Shi Qing sleep in. Moreover, she’d usually go to the classroom to study before dawn.
Therefore, seeing Shi Qing still in bed early in the morning was quite shocking for An Yin.
Upon calling her na and getting no response, An Yin couldn’t help but murmur thoughtfully, "It’s Friday today, isn’t it?" It’s a school day, right?
After mumbling, An Yin put on her shoes and walked towards the bathroom.
After freshening up, she felt sothing was amiss and quickly went to Shi Qing’s bedside.
"Shi Qing... Shi Qing..." An Yin called, tugging at Shi Qing’s shoulder.
When Shi Qing lay flat on the bed, An Yin finally saw her clearly.
Shi Qing’s face was flushed, her forehead covered in fine sweat, and her lips severely chapped.
Seeing this, An Yin panicked, "Shi Qing, wake up!" As she called out, An Yin reached out to touch her forehead.
The mont she touched Shi Qing’s skin, a searing heat spread across An Yin’s fingertips.
Shi Qing was running a high fever!
Perhaps the noise was too loud in her ears, and Shi Qing, summoning all her strength, opened her eyes to see an anxious face beside her bed, "Is sothing wrong?" Her mind heavy, Shi Qing was unaware of the situation.
"You’re running a high fever," An Yin said urgently. "Get up, let’s go to the hospital."
"No need," Shi Qing shook her head weakly. "I’ll just get up and take an antipyretic pill." There were still so pills An Yin had given her before; Shi Qing didn’t want to go to the hospital.
"That’s not okay." An Yin, looking at her weakened state, stated directly, "Change your clothes, I’ll go with you to the hospital, you must go!"
Shi Qing lay numbly on the narrow bed. The last words An Yin said made Shi Qing’s heart tremble; in her mory, there was once a relative who cared deeply for her, saying, "Qing Qing, be good, you must go to the hospital!"
Seeing Shi Qing’s dazed expression, An Yin thought she was delirious with fever. In An Yin’s understanding, Shi Qing was calm and decisive, never showing this confused state.
"Hurry, let’s change and go out."
"Can you walk?"
"Shi Qing?"
In the dorm, An Yin ticulously instructed on so matters.
Before leaving, both of them had asked for leave.
Shi Qing only wanted to check at the school’s dical room but was stopped by An Yin.
They both donned masks, hailed a cab, and went to a nearby public hospital.
Registration, queuing, consultation, examination...
Until the test results ca out, the doctor strongly suggested Shi Qing be hospitalized.
Listening to the doctor explain her condition, Shi Qing felt a bit panicked.
Viral infection, high inflammation markers...
In the end, Shi Qing followed the doctor’s advice and got admitted.
This hospital had been around for decades, and its environnt looked quite aged, giving a sense of dilapidation.
After An Yin helped Shi Qing to the ward, the patients and their attendants inside all glanced over at them.
A few burly n openly scanned the tender young girls, eventually only looking away when soone in the bed reminded them.
Shi Qing’s bed was on the innermost side, near the bathroom.
After Shi Qing lay down on the bed, An Yin finally spoke, "I’ll go get the dicine first, a nurse will co by later for the IV."
"Okay." Shi Qing lay on the white bedding, her eyelids drooping as if she could fall asleep at any mont.
"Then I’ll be off." Holding the prescription slip, An Yin turned and walked toward the door.
The hospital was crowded, and every spot required queuing.
Moreover, the inpatient departnt and the pharmacy weren’t in the sa building, so it took An Yin quite a while to return to the ward.
Originally intending to give Shi Qing another dose, upon entering, An Yin saw that Shi Qing was already on an IV, with three bottles of dicine hanging above her, presumably for the upcoming infusion.
"Little girl, the nurse ca earlier and fed your friend so antipyretic." A man from the adjacent bed comnted warmly, his face robust and muscular.
"Thank you for letting know." An Yin responded shyly, glancing at him.
Seeing the delicate girl speaking softly, the man felt an inexplicable itch in his heart. He had thought the hospital stay was boring until a stunning young girl suddenly appeared, bringing him unexpected delight.
The man suddenly felt that perhaps staying in the hospital wasn’t so bad after all!
When An Yin looked up, she noticed people afar occasionally glancing her way, catching the sight of a bedside curtain in her peripheral vision.
Although none of them had pulled it closed, facing everyone’s scrutiny made An Yin uncomfortable, so eventually, under their gazes, she braced herself and stood up, pulling the curtain to shield their view. Only then did she feel so comfort.
At noon, the neighboring bed munched on a fragrant al, occasionally making smacking sounds with his lips.
Having been busy since the morning, An Yin finally felt a wave of hunger after calming down, her stomach grumbling incessantly.
Shi Qing stayed in a half-awake state, An Yin quietly watching over her. Given their situation, An Yin eventually requested ti off with Wen i; clearly, Shi Qing couldn’t go to work tonight.
Fortunately, Wen i agreed without hesitation.
However, before ending the conversation, Wen i casually asked which hospital Shi Qing was in. An Yin didn’t think much of it and told her, ending their chat.
Throughout Shi Qing’s IV process, An Yin remained by her side, sitting only when all the dicine bottles were emptied, and the nurse ca to remove the needle. Shi Qing awakened, lying there for several seconds before piecing together her surroundings.
Shi Qing slowly turned her head, looking at An Yin squeezed into the narrow corridor, speaking earnestly, "Thank you for everything today... cough, cough..."
