An Yin’s whole face fell, the brightness replaced with a sea of worries.

Shen Jingrou knew the young girl was sensitive, so she changed the topic, "Let’s..." before she could finish, the phone rang.

An Yin stood beside her, watching her pick up the phone.

"Uncle!" Shen Jingrou called out affectionately.

An Yin noticed Shen Jingrou’s polite manner of address. Hearing how she addressed him, An Yin knew for sure it was a call from "Uncle ng."

"At your house," Shen Jingrou said, her eyes involuntarily fixed on the unfinished painting.

After the other side finished speaking, Shen Jingrou replied warmly, "With a good friend of mine."

"Alright, we’ll definitely visit when you get back."

"Goodbye!"

An Yin stood by the entire ti.

After Shen Jingrou hung up, she t An Yin’s gaze and said, "It must have been Auntie calling Uncle. He said it’s rare for to bring a friend over when he’s not ho. He also ntioned that when he returns, he wants to invite us over again and be a proper host."

After listening carefully, An Yin felt empty inside and replied, "Your uncle is really nice!" She even felt a bit envious of Shen Jingrou.

Shortly after, the two returned to the hall.

At this mont, Auntie happened to bring tea over and placed it on the table next to them.

An Yin looked down at the steaming tea, suddenly recalling Ms. An, who also loved tea, while An Yin did not like its bitterness.

Seeing An Yin only staring at the cup without drinking, Shen Jingrou couldn’t help but smile slightly. If the young girl knew the value of this tea, she might be frightened! Shen Jingrou said nothing more and asked Auntie, "Please bring her a cup of warm water."

An Yin felt embarrassed and glanced at Shen Jingrou, only to see her smiling. An Yin quickly declined her kindness, "It’s okay, I can drink the tea."

After saying that, An Yin lifted the teacup, tilted her head slightly, and drank it all in one go.

Afterward, she chewed twice, the bitter taste in her mouth making her uncomfortable, unable to swallow the tea leaves.

"Haha..."

"Miss An, the trash can is over here." Auntie pointed to the trash can with a smile.

Seeing this, An Yin stood up, went to the trash can, and spat out all the chewed tea leaves.

When she raised her head, looking disheveled, she saw Shen Jingrou with her hand covering her mouth, shaking lightly, laughing heartily, "An Yin, you’re too funny."

If Uncle ng knew his precious tea leaves were discarded like that, he’d surely pull a long face!

"I, I don’t like tea," An Yin stamred, wishing she could find a hole to hide in.

"Next ti, be sure to say if you don’t like sothing," Shen Jingrou patted An Yin’s back gently for comfort.

"Okay," An Yin replied obediently.

Sotis, Shen Jingrou felt the young girl’s character was so soft and gentle, even shyer than Little Ai. She had an illusion that An Yin needed more protecting and pampering!

Afterward, Shen Jingrou took a few sips of tea and then inford Auntie they were leaving.

Auntie knew Shen Jingrou was a strong-minded person and didn’t insist on keeping them, but she did make them wait for a while, then she brought over two seemingly ordinary wooden boxes.

"Ladies, these are gifts the gentleman asked to give you, as compensation for your wasted trip," Auntie relayed the gentleman’s words.

"Next ti, I’ll definitely thank him in person!" Shen Jingrou accepted the wooden boxes without hesitation.

An Yin stood there nervously and even took a step back, feeling uneasy about accepting gifts from soone she wasn’t related to.

Seeing the young girl retreating timidly, not wanting to accept the gift, Auntie extended her arm to hand the box to her, "Miss An, this is a kind gesture from the gentleman, please accept it."

Seeing Auntie’s sincerity, An Yin turned to Shen Jingrou for help.

Unexpectedly, Shen Jingrou took it directly from Auntie’s hands, saying, "I’ll take it for An Yin."

An Yin, "..." that wasn’t what she ant!

After they walked out the door of the "An Residence," Shen Jingrou stuffed the wooden box into An Yin’s arms, trying to ease the pressure in the young girl’s mind, she said casually, "Take it, it’s nothing valuable."

Hearing Shen Jingrou’s words, An Yin felt her tense heart relax a little, murmuring, "Your uncle is really nice!"

A stranger visits his house for the first ti and even receives a gift.

Listening to An Yin, Shen Jingrou also found her uncle’s behavior a bit unbelievable.

Usually, when she ca over, her uncle rarely gave her gifts, though Little Ai received quite a few. But Shen Jingrou quickly brushed aside this strange behavior of her uncle.

After leaving the residence, An Yin couldn’t help but look back again, noticing the plaque, and said softly, "Isn’t your uncle’s last na ng? Why is this yard called ’An Residence’?"

Following An Yin’s line of sight, Shen Jingrou started explaining, "My uncle’s first love’s last na was ’An’."

With her mouth wide open in surprise, An Yin asked, "Really?"

Is it keeping a lady in a golden house then?

A total scoundrel type!

An Yin’s good impression of "Uncle ng" vanished instantly! Holding the wooden box in her hands, An Yin felt it too hot to handle. What could she do if she didn’t want a scoundrel’s gift?

Seeing the rich expression on An Yin’s face, Shen Jingrou couldn’t help but expose the thoughts in the young girl’s heart, "You think my uncle is bad, don’t you?"

An Yin pouted, her face saying, "I didn’t say that, but it’s true."

So things Shen Jingrou didn’t know how to explain all at once, but ti would tell. After all, Uncle ng’s story wasn’t sothing that could be sumd up in a few words.

"My uncle is nice, you’ll see when you get to know him," Shen Jingrou said earnestly.

An Yin hesitated for a long ti before letting out a single word, "Oh."

In truth, she thought: There won’t be a chance.

She hated scoundrels!

This reminded her of Bao Cheng’s actions; if not for Bao Cheng’s disgraceful behavior, her relationship with Jiang Keke wouldn’t be so unhappy!

Beside her, Shen Jingrou noticed the young girl looking troubled and couldn’t help but ask, "Are you worried about sothing?" She had noticed the girl’s off tone when she had called to invite her out.

An Yin lightly bit her lip and murmured, "Yeah."

"What’s wrong, do you want to talk about it?" Shen Jingrou was eager to hear An Yin ntion "Bao Cheng" or "Bao Shaojin"; that would resolve her confusion.

"I had a falling out with a friend," An Yin sumd everything up in one sentence.

"A boyfriend?" Shen Jingrou’s heart raced, but she asked casually.

"Of course not." An Yin blushed instantly and added, "My best girlfriend, a girl!"
