Shi Qing looked at the phone on the desk and picked it up casually.
It was the sound of a text ssage. A ssage at this hour? It was probably spam. Shi Qing initially didn’t want to check but couldn’t resist her curiosity and clicked it open.
The ssage was from an unfamiliar number. Shi Qing frowned, becoming more certain it was junk, but as she was about to delete it, her eyes were caught by its content.
[You must be Shi Chu’s sister, right? I’m a good friend of your sister.]
Shi Qing looked at this baffling ssage. The sender didn’t reveal their identity, only ntioned being a friend of her sister.
Shi Qing racked her brain, recalling that her sister had never ntioned having a close friend...
At that mont, Shi Qing couldn’t help but be curious about the sender’s identity.
She held the phone in her trembling hands, walking heavily towards the balcony, closing the door behind her.
The balcony was silent and pitch-dark, even the moon had hidden behind the clouds at so point.
Shi Qing stared wide-eyed at the series of numbers, directly dialing the phone number.
"Ring, ring, ring..."
She called one number after another, but no one answered.
In the end, she hastily composed a ssage and sent it out.
Shi Qing: [Who are you? How much do you know about my sister? Can you answer the phone? There’s sothing I need to ask you. I’m begging you.]
Shi Qing typed these words quickly and sent them imdiately.
Her tone conveyed a sense of pleading. Shi Qing usually had stable emotions and rarely lost her composure like this.
On a cold winter night, the chill wind blew, fluttering Shi Qing’s long, loose hair.
The wind swept across her bare neck, but she didn’t feel cold, fully focused on the phone screen.
Just when she was feeling disappointed, a ssage from the other person ca through.
[I don’t know much, but your sister ntioned to that she had a man she loved deeply.]
A man she loved deeply?
Shi Qing’s emotions surged, thinking of her sister being pregnant in her last days, with a hint of resentnt in her eyes.
She composed another text ssage.
Shi Qing: [Who is that man? Do you know?]
The ssage was sent, but it was like a stone sinking into the sea. After waiting for over an hour, Shi Qing still didn’t receive a reply.
At this mont, she was wearing thin pajamas, with slippers on her feet. The cold on her body was far less than the chill in her heart.
Shi Qing looked up, the darkness enveloped the earth.
Even though the unexpected person had disturbed her composure, soone as clear-headed as her had not lost her rationality.
Since the person could find her number and contact her directly, they must have further intentions.
Shi Qing wasn’t sure who the sender was, but she was certain they didn’t have good intentions!
They could have told her openly, but they didn’t want to reveal their identity. There must be so hidden agenda behind it.
That night, Shi Qing slept restlessly, dreaming all night of her sister’s serene face...
In T City, a heavy rainstorm hit for the first ti after winter set in, accompanied by strong winds. Tall trees on campus swayed with their branches flailing, and many broken branches littered the ground, quickly spreading throughout the school.
Not only that, but the torrential rain also flooded many uneven roads, causing inconvenience for students passing by.
Overnight, it seed as if the whole city was shrouded in a layer of gloom. Even the temperature plumted, and with each breath, mist ford around people’s nostrils.
An Yin didn’t expect the down jacket her mother bought to be needed so soon.
After using her umbrella to go to the cafeteria for breakfast, she arrived at the classroom to find a group of people gathered, excitedly discussing sothing.
An Yin spotted Jiang Keke at a glance and walked over.
"Keke, what’s everyone talking about?" An Yin asked, reaching out to pat the water droplets off her clothes.
The rain was so heavy, with the wind blowing, that despite having an umbrella, she was still quite wet.
Jiang Keke stood up, helping to brush off the water too, and excitedly said, "The counselor just ntioned that the school is holding a New Year’s Eve party, and each class has to prepare an activity."
A New Year’s Eve party? An Yin nodded disinterestedly, "Oh."
After tidying her clothes, An Yin sat down next to Jiang Keke.
Seeing An Yin unmoved, Jiang Keke’s face fell, "I forgot, you don’t like participating."
An Yin raised her eyes, opened her mouth intending to say sothing, and mories of dancing flashed through her mind. Her expression turned slightly forlorn as lancholy swept over her heart.
Jiang Keke was fully absorbed in the New Year’s Eve party, taking out her phone to scroll through performance videos to prepare for the event. At that mont, she didn’t notice An Yin’s absence of mind.
The storm outside couldn’t diminish the students’ enthusiasm for the New Year’s Eve party.
That day, those interested in performing gathered during breaks to discuss. Jiang Keke was among the active ones, having a strong interest in performing.
Watching the lively discussions, An Yin sat quietly at her desk, flipping through a book, without the slightest desire to join in.
For several days in a row, An Yin remained on her own.
After class that day, An Yin received a call from Shen Jingrou, and it suddenly reminded her that they hadn’t seen each other in a long ti, prompting a sense of longing for her friend.
"Jingrou!"
When the call connected, An Yin affectionately addressed her.
"You still rember ," Shen Jingrou teased playfully, pretending to be angry, "Class is over, right? Are you free now?"
"Yes, is there sothing you need?" An Yin asked as she descended the stairs, the surrounding noise making it a bit hard to hear. She held the phone close to her ear.
"I thought we haven’t t for a while, so I wanted to invite you for a al."
An Yin pondered, "Alright, send the location."
"I’m at your school gate."
An Yin, "..." If she had just said she wasn’t free, wouldn’t that have been a wasted trip? An Yin was montarily speechless.
"I’m coming out now." An Yin said as she quickened her pace.
The weather was gloomy, making it feel like it was about to rain.
At dismissal ti, a constant stream of students flowed towards the outside of the school. Walking among the crowd, An Yin’s striking appearance caught the attention of many boys. So boldly squeezed beside her, just to walk alongside her, but their frequent glances revealed their intentions.
Facing everyone’s gazes, An Yin felt sowhat resistant, unable to do anything about it but ignore them.
Finally, outside the campus, she managed to shake off those boys.
Looking at the nurous cars parked along the roadside, An Yin walked slowly. Near the bus station, she saw a familiar figure.
Shen Jingrou stood next to a car, waving at her, "Over here."
An Yin walked briskly towards her, "Jingrou!"
Shen Jingrou was wearing a long coat, with high heels that made her look graceful and elegant. Her clean makeup and delicate features made her look stunning from afar!
