"He must be outside. He said he needed to take a call and handle so work matters." An Yin recalled what Bao Cheng ntioned earlier and repeated it.
Jiang Keke simply picked up the fruit platter and placed it on her own lap, sitting side by side with An Yin, grumbling as she humd, "Every ti he disappears, he uses work as an excuse, isn’t he afraid I’ll get tired of hearing it?"
The resentnt in Jiang Keke’s words was evident.
"He’s just taking a call, he hasn’t left after all." An Yin defended Bao Cheng.
"Ha... Yinyin, you don’t understand him!"
As she said this, even though Jiang Keke was smiling, An Yin thought her smile was harder to look at than crying.
An Yin didn’t say anything; Bao Cheng was soone she indeed didn’t understand.
Outside the private room.
Shi Qing erged from another private room, her clothes reeking of strong alcohol. She went straight to the public restroom in the hallway and repeatedly washed her hands with the slightly cool water.
After leaving the restroom, she didn’t go to the front of the private room right away. Instead, she headed to the door at the end of the corridor. Behind the door was a safe passageway, and whenever she felt tired, she would rest there for a while.
She was about to open the door when she heard a man’s voice inside. Shi Qing clutched the door handle tightly, her steps faltering.
There was an echo in the safe passage when soone spoke, so even through the door, Shi Qing could hear the conversation inside clearly.
"Let’s not beat around the bush; just say it, how much do you want?"
"I don’t have that much money on right now."
"How about this: I’ll take you to the hospital first, and we’ll solve this trouble. Once I gather the money, I’ll give it to you as soon as possible, alright?"
"Don’t push it; it’s just because you’re pregnant with my child, isn’t it?"
"Dong..."
The iron door was hit by sothing, producing a loud clang.
When Bao Cheng hurriedly hung up the phone and ca out of the safe passageway, he cast a stern gaze along the corridor. Besides a few robust attendants, he saw only the waiters standing in front of the private room doors and no one else.
Bao Cheng adjusted his emotions, the anger gradually dissipating from his face. Just as he was about to head toward Jiang Keke’s private room, Shi Qing, who stood in front of the door, tactfully attempted to help open it but was stopped by Bao Cheng.
Through the lenses of her black-frad glasses, her eyes subtly flickered. Shi Qing stood upright, her face revealing no emotion.
Bao Cheng walked over to her, "Did anyone co out from inside just now?"
Shi Qing replied without hesitation, "No."
Bao Cheng didn’t leave. His dark eyes scrutinized Shi Qing repeatedly; his left lip corner curled up as he left a cryptic remark, "Your na is Shi Qing, right?" Jiang Keke had just casually ntioned it before, but Bao Cheng rembered.
Shi Qing was taken aback, not understanding the aning behind his question, so she simply stayed still, "Yes."
Bao Cheng initially planned to ask sothing more, but his phone rang again. He frowned, suppressing his inner anger, and after walking a few steps away from the private room, he answered the call.
Within five seconds, Shi Qing saw his figure disappear down the hallway.
Shi Qing stood in place, what she had seen and heard before was just soone else’s private matter to her, she always held a stance of minding her own business in life.
Inside the private room.
An Yin thought the two of them hadn’t sat down to chat in a long ti and would have endless topics to discuss. Unexpectedly, from the beginning, Jiang Keke seed absent-minded. Even though they were talking, Jiang Keke’s eyes constantly glanced toward the door of the private room, as if waiting for soone...
Seeing this, An Yin stopped trying to make casual conversation.
"Why not give him a call?"
Jiang Keke sat listlessly on the sofa, holding a pillow tight in her hands, with her pointy chin resting on it, looking despondent.
"No need to call." Jiang Keke said lightly, not sure if it was to An Yin or to reassure herself.
In An Yin’s heart, Jiang Keke was straightforward—speaking and doing things directly, never good at hiding anything.
Perhaps it was because they hadn’t been living together recently, and even the ti spent together had been drastically reduced. An Yin suddenly realized that at this mont, Jiang Keke seed to have changed.
Beco sensitive and uneasy!
It was not hard to see, Jiang Keke’s changes had everything to do with Bao Cheng!
An Yin’s heart also underwent a wave of shock, and she couldn’t help but wonder: can being in love really change a person’s character?
"Yinyin, recently Ah Cheng has suddenly beco very busy. He keeps saying he’s busy starting a business, busy raising funds. If I ask a little more, he just becos impatient and says ’you can’t help anyway.’" Jiang Keke buried her head in the pillow, recounting her worries over this period helplessly. Her despair and helplessness were revealed in every subtle move.
"From the beginning, I knew I was the vulnerable one in this relationship. I thought if I just accommodated him, followed him in everything, we could love each other for a long, long ti. But it seems that’s not how it is."
Jiang Keke sat up, her red eyes eting An Yin’s concerned gaze. Her eyes were empty and lingering.
"Keke!" An Yin didn’t know how to comfort others, as she had no experience in matters of love and didn’t understand the feeling. But from Keke’s description, An Yin could vaguely sense that Jiang Keke was genuinely feeling inferior!
"Don’t worry, it’s just so sudden sentintal thoughts." Jiang Keke forced a weak smile; that sweet face with delicate makeup looked extraordinarily gorgeous and alluring.
An Yin noticed how quickly her expression changed and mumbled, "Keke, if you’re not happy, don’t smile!" Otherwise, her heart would ache.
"Wu wu..." Because of An Yin’s words, Jiang Keke burst into tears in less than a second, turning her head away, hugging An Yin’s slender fra tightly, sobbing softly.
An Yin, initially in a daze, ca to her senses and gently patted her back, soothing her while handing over tissues.
"Yinyin, you treat the best..."
"You can see when I’m unhappy, why can’t Ah Cheng?"
"Or maybe he does see it, but just doesn’t care... wu wu..."
That night, An Yin spent most of her ti comforting Jiang Keke. As they left "Night Charm," as Jiang Keke had expected, Bao Cheng had already left, having settled the bill for the night.
Jiang Keke drove An Yin back to school.
In front of T University gates, the two sat in the car. At this ti, Jiang Keke’s eyes were evidently swollen from crying, with red circles around her eyes, looking quite comical.
However, neither was in the mood to laugh.
"I’m going down now, you..." An Yin unbuckled her seatbelt, looking at her friend with concern.
"Don’t worry about , hurry back to the dorm, the Dormitory Aunt will soon close the door." Jiang Keke reminded hoarsely.
"Goodbye." Prompted by Jiang Keke’s reminder, An Yin quickly got out of the car.
Jiang Keke watched her friend’s silhouette, the gloom in her eyes becoming more pronounced!
