Even though Zenith paused for a while, being lost in his contemplated thoughts, Marita continued chattering over the call as if she had taken quite a liking to talking with Zenith.
"Well, it’s just the sa old story for poor people like us. Watching struggle to et our ends riled up his urge to beco the strongest Alpha of the town since he was only 5. Could you believe it, that little boy went around the town, telling everyone that he would protect from the world? Haha, that little fool!
"But since then, he pushed himself too hard in studies, and workouts, and even did every possible work to support . Now...he has even gotten himself into the most prestigious Alpha Academy, but he didn’t want to leave because he was worried about using my life savings to pay for the tuition fees. Could you believe this?" Marita stated with a gentle smile.
However, Zenith stood frozen from the revelation of Kylian’s life, making him realize the depth of the mishap that had happened to Kylian! He was stunned to realize that the asly amount of 5 million dollars which he would often spend in a day at parties of branded clothes was sothing so important to Kylian that it cost him his mother’s life savings!
Until now, he had never bothered to look into the lives of people who belonged to poverty, but after his path entangled with Kylian, he replied coldly, "Did you spend your life savings to send him here?"
"Of course, sir. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have afforded to do it..." This ti Marita’s voice sounded a bit glum when she also added, "You see I was unable to give my Kyle a lavish life since childhood, but he was such a happy child to take whatever I gave him. I agree that he’s quite stubborn sotis, and he’s extrely protective of weak people if they are being harassed or bullied, but he has a gem of a heart, Sir.
"I was quite nervous to send him there in the Alpha academy...but if he has gotten such good people like you around him, then I can rest at ease here."
’So that’s why he was stubbornly protecting that Todor bastard from , huh? Fuck! It has beco more complicated than I ever imagined...’ Zenith exhaled a heavy sigh while deeply pondering in his mind after hearing the real reason behind Kylian’s stubbornness, however, it made him certain that things were about to get too hard between them from now onwards.
"Oh, I must have talked too much! I am sorry, for disturbing you at this late night, Sir, but I just wanted to wish Kyle on his birthday. But it’s fine he must be too tired already..."
"Wait...today’s his birthday?"
Zenith imdiately caught her point, which made Marita chuckle a little as she answered, "Oh, yes, didn’t he tell you that? I knew he wouldn’t...that boy doesn’t easily open up to others about his real feelings. It’s his 19th birthday, but I am glad that you were by his side tonight. Thank you very much, Sir."
Feeling a strange kind of solace from Marita’s words, Zenith realized it was just how he had thought Kylian was very different from the other ogas, he must have inherited that trait from his kind mother.
Unable to tell her the truth anymore, Zenith assured her with a blatant lie, "Yes, Kylian has transitioned into a Dominant Alpha, so don’t worry...he will do well here. I will be by his side to watch over him...and you don’t have to address as Sir, either. Just call Zenith, next ti."
"O-Oh...haha...t-thank you very much s-s...Zenith!" Marita promptly responded with her smile, making Zenith contemplate his guilt for lying to her again.
When she disconnected the call, Zenith walked back to his bed and laid his gaze on Kylian’s bare porcelain-white body. He was covered in his hickeys which were shimring brightly under the glistening moonlight.
Zenith slowly tucked himself back on the bed and wrapped his arms to hold Kylian firmly in his embrace. Checking his heartbeat and breathing to make sure he was feeling comfortable now, Zenith exhaled a long sigh before addressing him, "I lied to your mother about your transition. I am sorry...but I didn’t want to make her sad. She sounded very innocent over the call, did you inherit her trait as the dominant oga?"
However, even though he was conversing all alone in a gentle voice, Zenith couldn’t stop admiring at Kylian’s beautiful face while holding him in his arms. His mildly warm body served as a perfect match for his cold body when they were together, making Zenith feel as if a hole carved deep inside his heart had been filled now that he had Kylian with him.
"I know I am one of the Alphas who hated ogas out of prejudice...and I know after what happened tonight, you might hate more tomorrow. But I have promised your mother that I will watch over you here...so I am gonna do it even if you push away."
Placing a soft kiss on his forehead, Zenith whispered the words to Kylian before placing another peck on his cheeks. He snuggled tightly with him while mumbling, "Now I get why you were so adamant in protecting Stephan...and I might have co across a nasty bully to you, right?
"I had my reasons and I don’t know if I could ever change my image to you... but...I know this place shouldn’t be safe for you to reside. This place is full of Alphas...but do rember.
"No one can lay a finger on you under my watch. That’s my word to you!"
This ti Zenith placed a soft kiss on his warm lips as soon as he swore his vow as the Alpha. Infatuated by his sweet lingering scent, Zenith nuzzled his head to rest over Kylian’s chest before he mumbled with a tender smile, "Happy birthday, Kyle! I am glad...I am the one you got to spend your 19th birthday with...and the one who witnessed your transition as well!
"How wonderful it would have been if I could always have you so docile and innocent in my arms like this...forever?"
