"F-Fated Mate?" Kylian’s voice shuddered from shock as he repeated after that elderly monk, holding a gaze of disbelief towards him.
From a very young age Kylian had learned about the mate bonds existing between the chosen Alpha and Oga hierarchy in the society.
But while growing up, watching his mother suffer all alone bearing all the heinous accusations from all those people in the town sotis made him wonder as a child, what if all those talks about fated mates were simply gossip created by the people? In their entire Bethel town, there weren’t any Alphas who had found their fated pairs in the Ogas around them.
But for the first ti when he heard about Zenith’s father abandoning his mother cruelly after finding his destined pair had left a striking impression on Kylian, as for the first ti he realised those theories weren’t just rely gossip. Fated pairs do exist in the world, but it was extrely rare...probably 0.1% among the entire population of a big city.
But now, that elderly man’s words left him too startled to blink his lashes, as he held a poker face of confusion towards him, asking for further confirmation.
"Are you...ntioning about Z-Zenith, sir? Is he...really my...fated pair? I an...we...our wolves...haven’t felt the mate bonds existing between us...but are you sure there isn’t any mistake in this theory?"
"I do know that right at this mont, both you children haven’t felt the mate bond that’s been pairing you together." The soft smile on that elderly monk’s round face widened at his response, as if he intended to make Kylian feel comfortable with that topic.
He marched a few steps closer towards the main shrine and averted his gaze towards the blooming cherry blossom trees, lined up beautifully when he continued.
"But...just from the first glance, I was able to recognise that Alpha is your written destiny, my child. I know you may find my words a bit too shocking to believe...but after devoting my whole life to serve our Holy Mother...there’s no way I could mistake in recognising the bond she has paired you two with. In fact, I can also say that both of you are born for each other, my child."
’Zenith...is my fated Alpha? Goodness...this is so hard for to believe... I had always felt there was sothing special always existing between the two of us, but to think...we were paired by the Moon Goddesses herself... isn’t it such a crazy revelation?’
Kylian’s handso face lit up with a radiant glow of happiness after obtaining the confirmation from that elderly monk, as the thoughts kept circulating in his mind.
His ocean eyes swirled with gleaming joy when he further contemplated, ’Should I tell Zenith about it? I think he would be ecstatic to know about this...right?’
"However..." When Kylian was contemplating whether to tell Zenith about it or not, the monk suddenly deepened his voice, averting his glance towards Kylian, while making it sound a bit serious as he spoke.
"Usually, a dominant Alpha always recognises the mate bond with his fated pair, in so cases right at the first sight. But in this case, since he didn’t recognise the bond until now, it’s also safe to assu that there must be so deep traumatic scars embedded in his distant past which have put such a grave impact on that life that he has turned recessive towards recognition of his fated pair.
"It isn’t uncommon...in fact I have seen many Alphas go through this kind of event whenever they were put through psychological traumas since a very young age. But once everything in their life changes for good, they often revives their powers back to recognise their destined pair."
The monk sounded very diligent from his tone that perfectly described Zenith’s situation now that Kylian was aware of his dark past. Losing his beloved mother due to Dolemort’s finding of his fated pair must’ve scarred his innocent heart brutally that when the ti ca in his life, Zenith wasn’t able to recognise the bond in the first place.
It didn’t hurt Kylian’s feelings, since he was accustod to a mature way of dealing with complicated situations like this. Even though a part of his heart wanted to tell Zenith about what he had heard from the monk, his rational self told him otherwise that it would be wise to wait for the right ti.
~ "I had this hunch since the first day I t my Alpha upon awakening...but...this old man’s words make sense. If you bother telling him about it before, he might get really stressed inside because our Alpha still hasn’t been able to escape the clutches of his dark past, haunting him still now."
His oga wolf Morpheus also gave him the best possible answer to deal with his contemplating thoughts, as Kylian exhaled a heavy sigh.
Keeping a brief silence, he lifted his determined gaze up at that monk’s face before urging him, "I can perfectly understand your advice, sir. I will wait for the right ti to co until Zenith recognises our bond first...and till then, I will make sure to keep this away from him. But...can I ask you sothing instead?"
"Of course, my child."
His gentle words made Kylian nervously scratch the back of his hairs, as a flushed hue tainted his white cheeks when he mumbled, "Um, Sir...if we are fated mates...then it ans we will be together for the rest of our life, right? Since you are blessed with divine vision, sir, could you please assure about our future together..."
"My child, it isn’t necessary that all the fated mates existing in this world stay together for the rest of their lives. So may stay together...and so may not..."
"Huh? P-Pardon?" All of a sudden, hearing that monk’s answer stirred an unusual palpitation inside Kylian’s heart, as he could vividly see the smile on that old man’s face tainted a little with his question. But now, his answer made him feel anxious inside as he couldn’t help but wonder, "I an...Sir...do you intend to say...we might not be able to stay with each other too?"
"I didn’t intend to scare you with my words, my child. But it is very hard to draw a possible conclusion of the future when everything around us is very uncertain...except your destiny. That’s the one thing we can never change on our own." As if the old man realised his words were making Kylian quite fretful, he tossed a warm smile at him and tried to ease his tone, marching a little closer towards him.
"It was my duty to let you be aware of the blessing you are born with, my child. Finding one’s fated pair isn’t an easy task in this world...but you were able to find him, so you’ve already achieved a big achievent. Remaining about the result of your future, why don’t you test it here with a ritual?"
"Ritual?"
"Yes." The old man pointed his finger towards the countless colorful paper lanterns hanging all around the shrines and sounded a bit cryptic from his tone when he addressed, "They aren’t any ordinary lanterns. Everything residing in this mountain shrine, I believe they all have spirits existing inside them. And...once you ask your prayers to them by following a sacred ritual, then you might get an idea of what’s awaiting your future, my child.
"But you must rember, sotis the results aren’t as good as you expect them to be. They might scare and make you anxious, but do you have the guts to try them?"
Watching his rolled eyes intensely locked on Kylian as the elderly monk professed his words, it definitely made Kylian a little anxious. But he couldn’t shove away his imnse curiosity either.
Since the ti he learnt about Zenith being his fated pair, he was dying inside to learn more about the future awaited for them...especially since Kylian was well aware of the two different worlds both of them belonged from.
However, getting a solution for his anxious thoughts, Kylian didn’t intend to let this opportunity slip away from his fingers as he ardently declared, "Yes. I want to do that ritual...together with Zenith, sir."
"Did you miss already, babe?"
But at that mont, hearing Zenith’s warm compassionate voice behind him flinched Kylian a bit hard but he felt an imnse sense of relief after watching his Alpha finally co back to him after finishing his last rites.
Zenith seed in an amicable mood, but he didn’t fail to notice an anxious gaze rolled in Kylian’s ocean eyes which made him curiously urge, "Babe, what’s wrong? Are you worried about sothing?"
"Hey, Zenith...you’re done with your last rites, right?" Quickly holding onto Zenith’s fair cool palms, Kylian keenly urged him in a low mumble.
"Yes, I am done with that prayer ritual. But why...what happened, baby–"
"If you’re done then let us do a ritual here, right now." Pressing into his cold palms, Kylian sounded a bit anxious from his tone when he professed his wish to Zenith, very loud and clear.
