112 Chapter 112 An Unexpectedly Honest Conversation
(Desmond POV)
Seconds passed and no sign of Sasha was to be seen so I was left with no choice but to try a couple more practice shots before heading back to the house to look for that skittish girl.
It was a sha that after the third shot I was unable to draw the bow back to a proper firing position before my muscles gave out completely, no matter how hard I tried to ignore the pain; the stress that I put on my body prevented from continuing my practice any longer.
′′ Well at least I still have beastly stamina in bed. . . not that that matters to anyone who tries to assassinate , but it is a consolation I suppose. ′′ I exclaid with a bitter smile as I tried not to make my face contract with the muscle pain I was feeling at this mont.
As soon as I finished saying words that would make look really bad in front of any woman, the slight sound of a door closing reached my ears, when I turned around I could see Sasha leaving the cabin with a small backpack in her hands, while I watched as she walked towards ; I couldn’t help but notice that the poor girl still looked slightly flushed probably due to what I said to her a few monts ago.
I didn’t even get a chance to say anything to this girl who was begging to be bothered a bit more before she pulled a small vial out of the backpack in her arms and handed it to so abruptly that it almost hit my face; The vial was filled with a slightly thick light green liquid and despite being sealed you could still breathe a floral aroma coming off it.
′′ It is a recovery potion based on sumr sunflower it is very effective to relieve fatigue and stress from the body, it should help you so take it right now ” Sasha exclaid abruptly as well as her presentation of the potion, giving zero chances to ask questions or comnt.
A little speechless by the sudden imposing attitude of the woman in front of , I just obeyed and drank from the potion that was offered to ; that in fairness was sothing I really needed right now.
The taste was nothing special if you ignored the fact that it tasted slightly like chamomile tea, the effects did not take long to show that the girl in front of had the right to be arrogant about her skills in alchemy because of the pain and fatigue that felt began to slow down at an almost ridiculous speed.
.....
Having a mind not so distracted now by the pain I couldn’t help but look again at Sasha who was still in front of looking at with an expectant look, the blush on her cheeks had not yet gone and the slightly nervous movents gave away that despite the Dominant front that she put a few monts ago, she was still trying to deal with the embarrassnt that I caused her minutes ago and despite this, her first reaction after being bothered by was to go find sothing to help at this mont; anyone who saw her right now could see the expression of a concerned girl in love on her face without even trying.
Under normal circumstances seeing a girl look at with those eyes, I would simply shrug my shoulders and not hesitate for a second to sleep with her never to see her again; but a lot had changed recently; not only my circumstances and my relationship with Claire had changed. . . I had done it too. And it’s because I had changed that I needed to break Sasha’s heart in a different way than I’m used to.
′′ Thank you for the potion Sasha and worrying, actually the reason I called you was not for this kind of thing but to talk a little about the mission that brought here and the commission that I agreed to carry out for you. ′′
An expression of relief was reflected on Sasha’s sweet and beautiful face for a mont hearing my thanks followed by a puzzled expression when hearing the rest of what I had to say.
′′ A few days have passed since I ca to this place and I am not a little closer to achieving my goal, the sa can be said of the things in which I promised to help you and I think it is ti for us to get down to business. ′′ I calmly exclaid my intentions to the girl in front of .
′′ I see, you are right that we have taken so ti on tasks that were not really pressing, in the first place, I should not have even pointed out the hunt of the dark-edged creeper tiger before we advanced a little more on other objectives for which I share so bla for the ti you spent recovering from your injuries; As for my materials order, it can wait. ′′ She exclaid quite sensibly and calmly.
′′ Well to be fair about the tiger was mainly my fault for being so stubborn in facing him alone, but I think leaving those issues aside; we need to take our tasks at hand a little more seriously. After all, people are waiting for at ho. ′′ The first words were said with the intention of making our objectives clear but that last part was more of a slip than sothing said intentionally and I soon had ti to regret my mistake.
′′ With soone waiting for you at ho. . . it’s a girl? ′′ Sasha said with eyes full of expectation and a bit of fear, I can only remain speechless before how powerful the sixth feminine sense is.
For a mont, just for an instant the word “No” appeared in my mind in response to his question, lying seed the easiest option in the sa way it had been in the past, but I had already made a decision when I had started this conversation and cheating on this adorable, kind and innocent girl was not part of the plan; Even with how sudden this mont ended up I still wasn’t willing to drop the subject, I owed it to this girl whose emotions had been being played by the biggest bastard I know.
′′ Yes ′′ was all I said.
The pain completely overwheld Sasha’s previously cheerful face, there was still so uncertainty in her gaze and a little expectation that she refused to let go.
′′ Do you love her? ′′ She asked with a shaky voice.
I didn’t even say a word this ti, I just nodded firmly, which caused Sasha’s expression to get even worse; However, that expectation in the back of her eyes refused to be extinguished even with everything I said so far; after hesitating for a few monts Sasha still turned to see directly in the eyes while asking a question that seed to have taken all her resolution to ask.
′′ Could you love too? ′′ Sasha exclaid with an unexpectedly firm voice and although she could not hide the trembling of her hands that did not prevent from having a new degree of respect for her.
Even so, her question took by surprise, after all, it was not exactly the kind of response I expected, I expected a tantrum, a complaint, or even a beating, but I did not expect a certain confession and it was because of the kindness and respect that she earned that I decided to honestly answer her question.
′′ Probably yes, I hate to admit it myself, but I don’t have much resistance to won and long ago I lost the ntality of a person faithful to only one person and that is why I cannot promise to make you happy or be completely faithful to you; The only thing that a broken and pathetic person like can do is that as long as my family accepts you, I will never abandon you. ′′ I exclaid with a determination and sincerity that were rarely seen in soone who does not usually take most things seriously.
I could hardly believe the enormous happiness and bliss that emanated from Sasha when she heard my answer, although she frowned a little when she heard about my lack of commitnt on the side of fidelity; this seed to improve when she hears the part about never being abandoned.
′′ Then I just have to be accepted by your wife, right? ′′ Sasha said with a beaming smile.
I have to be completely honest, even I have to doubt the girl in front of a bit because not even my charms are enough to make a normal girl fall in love as long as she ignores all the problems with what I said; so the doubt was probably written on my face long enough for Sasha to answer a question I never asked.
′′ You are probably wondering why I was so quick to accept everything you said, but the answer is very simple; It’s because you said you could love ′′ Sasha exclaid as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, but at my lack of response she just let out a sigh and continued.
′′ I guess you wouldn’t understand if I didn’t tell you about my past. . . Let’s go inside I’ll make so tea, this will be a long conversation. ′′
