[Old Pierson Residence]
"Oh, my dearest... co here with Grandma." Old Mrs. Pierson happily welcod Penny into her ho, holding her granddaughter-in-law’s hand as she led her inside. Her steps were small and careful, but her aura and tone were like that of a child welcoming her favorite person to her ho.
She was more excited than when her grandson would co to visit. Old Mrs. Pierson wouldn’t even co to the door to welco Zoren—only for Penny.
Penny smiled lovingly, adjusting Old Mrs. Pierson’s hold so she could assist the old madam. Once they were seated, Old Mrs. Pierson gazed up to study Penny’s face.
"Oh, my angel, have you not been eating well?" Old Mrs. Pierson cupped Penny’s face. "Why do you look like you’ve lost so weight?"
"Hehe. Grandma..." Penny chuckled, about to tell her it was probably because she was back to training. But before she could, Old Mrs. Pierson yelled,
"Does your husband tire you out so much?!" Her remark quickly caused Penny’s face to twitch. "I already told him not to overdo it! Do it regularly, but with balance! Has he not been feeding you well as compensation?!"
Com... pen... sation?
"Grandma..." Penny laughed awkwardly, holding Old Mrs. Pierson’s wrinkled hand. "It’s not like that..." but yes, if she were being honest, her marital routine wasn’t exactly regular anymore—it was more like a marathon! But Penny didn’t want to cause trouble for her husband; he was behaving well.
"My dearest Penelope, if your husband isn’t treating you well, let know, alright? I’ll give him a beating!"
Penny smiled, studying how the Old Madam fud, as if her own grandchild were bullying her. At this point, she felt like this was her own grandmother, not her husband’s.
What a wonderful person.
"Grandma, how have you been feeling?" asked Penny curiously. "Are the dicines working?"
"Yes!" Old Mrs. Pierson cheered, lifting her hand to show Penny her guns. "My adorable Slater even cos here to join in my exercise. He gave a routine so I can live to be a hundred."
Penny’s eyes softened, aware of Slater’s visits to the Old Pierson Residence. After all, Old Mrs. Pierson would regularly call Penny just to talk to her, so she wouldn’t miss her so much. However, it was clear that talking to Penny through the call and having her around was still different—it was better.
"I see..." Old Mrs. Pierson nodded. "Grandma, do you rember our last conversation on the phone?"
"Hmm? Which one? Our temple visit to pray for your uncle’s marriage?"
Penny smiled in satisfaction. "Yes, that one."
"Haha! Of course! I even asked Mildred to find so eligible won. I think I have the list right here." Old Mrs. Pierson happily released Penny’s hand and reached underneath the coffee table.
Penny just watched the Old Madam, not offering assistance even if she wanted to. She just observed. To be truthful, Penny didn’t care about the list of eligible won who could be a good match for Haines. She had already given up after trying to pair him with Ms. Sandford in the past.
Haines was like a rock—a gigantic rock at the bottom of the sea.
The only reason Penny asked the question was to check on the Old Madam’s progress or if her health was declining. Even though Old Mrs. Pierson was already past retirent age and should have retired from the Pierson family affairs, the reason for her retirent was concerning. The doctors who examined her hadn’t found any issues.
Even so, no single test could diagnose dentia since she had only had one episode. It wasn’t enough. That’s why Penny was intervening in hopes of slowing it down. So far, it seed like Old Mrs. Pierson was doing well.
"Here!" Old Mrs. Pierson straightened up, placing a folder on the table. When Penny looked at it, her face contorted. It was a thick stack.
"I didn’t know there were so many won out there who aren’t married yet."
Old Mrs. Pierson laughed out loud. "This file includes younger won, from their late twenties to fifties, who prefer n around your uncle’s age. Mildred is good at this; she’s done it with many tis in the past."
"..." Penny pursed her lips into a thin line, chuckling in defeat. "Aunt Mildred didn’t seem like the type. Is she on the list?"
"Mildred is good at helping find eligible n and won for marriage, but she’s bad at choosing for herself."
"She and Uncle Haines might get along," Penny blurted out, and Old Mrs. Pierson suddenly stopped. Raising her brows, Penny slowly glanced at the Old Madam’s face. "Grandma, I’m... joking?"
Old Mrs. Pierson clapped her hands, her eyes twinkling. "You’re right! How did I not think of that?!"
"Uh..."
"Butler Hubert!" Old Mrs. Pierson yelled, making Butler Hubert, who had just entered the room with a tray of refreshnts and snacks, flinch. "Get Mildred Pierson’s profile. I’ll add her to this pile."
"Old Madam, you want... Young Madam Mildred in there?" Butler Hubert hesitated. "Are you sure, Old Madam?"
"Yes! Do it quickly! Penny will check the list. She told she would help convince Haines!"
"I did?"
"Yes!" Old Mrs. Pierson faced Penny again. "Goodness! How could you forget! The last ti we talked, didn’t you tell that?"
Penny furrowed her brows, glancing up to jog her mory. After a second, her face crumpled as it seed she had agreed while getting distracted. Her eyes then fell on Old Mrs. Pierson’s eager face, and she laughed awkwardly.
"Uhm, Grandma." She reached out to Old Mrs. Pierson’s hand, smiling. "I have another uncle, actually."
"Huh?"
"He’s not a biological uncle, but he is like one to . He helped my company grow while I was abroad."
"Oh..."
Penny chuckled awkwardly, knowing that if she were going to convince Haines, she’d have to drag Wild into it as well. That way, Haines wouldn’t be so mad. It wasn’t just him, after all.
"He had a wife in the past, but they broke up a long ti ago," she continued. "He’s around the sa age as Uncle Haines. It would be great to find him a partner as well."
Old Mrs. Pierson’s eyes twinkled, a little excited, as this only ant more work for her. "Penny, do not worry. Your uncles and even your brothers—I’ll find them a good wife, just like you and Allison!"
