Allen’s steps slowed, his brows furrowing as he noticed boxes inside Atlas’s office. When he stepped inside, he stopped, completely confused by the sight before him.

Atlas’s office wasn’t grand, as he liked his working space spacious. Aside from the countless books on the bookshelves in the corner and so pictures of his family, there wasn’t much in it. Now, however, the office was completely vacated.

All the books on the bookshelves were now in boxes, the painting on the wall was unmounted, and the minimalist decorations that gave life to this space were also thrown in boxes. The office now looked completely empty, ready for soone else to occupy it.

"Director Bennet," Allen blurted out, shifting his eyes from the boxes to the man seated behind the desk. "What is the aning of this? How could you co into the CEO’s office and touch Sir Atlas’s things?!"

Stephen smirked, staring at Allen in amusent. "Oh ho! It seems you haven’t heard from your boss yet?"

"What?" Allen scoffed in disbelief, glancing at Atlas and then back at Stephen. His face imdiately turned red as he clenched his teeth. "Director Bennet, what nonsense are you saying now?! The chairman is in critical condition! How could you cause trouble for Sir Atlas right when the chairman fell ill?"

"Allen, stop it," Atlas remarked. However, his words fell on deaf ears as Allen was prepared to fight Stephen Bennet.

"Director Bennet, with all due respect, but you are going too far!" Allen harrumphed. "Who do you think you are to do this to my boss? Aren’t you grateful that despite what your son did to another human being, he still let you linger around and didn’t drag you into it?"

"But the mont the chairman fell ill, you’re acting as if you’re now the head of the family!" he continued. "Aren’t you ashad?! After earning rcy from Sir Atlas and the chairman, you are doing this to them!"

"Hah! What a feisty little one!" Stephen snickered. "Are you done?"

"Huh?"

Stephen slowly rose to his feet, his hands on the armrests. "It seems Atlas had quite a bit to say about , huh?"

"Sir Atlas didn’t need to say anything for to know what kind of trouble you’re causing right now, Director."

"Hah!" Stephen laughed, his face twisting into irritation. "You lowly assistant think you’re all high and mighty just because you’ve been hanging around your boss for too long. But that ends today."

He snickered, smirking smugly. "You’re fired."

"You can’t do that!"

"Oh, I can," Stephen laughed as he taunted. "Why don’t you ask your boss? Whether or not I can?"

As soon as those words flew out of Stephen’s mouth, Allen intuitively turned to Atlas.

"Sir, why aren’t you saying anything?" he asked, only to catch Atlas walking toward the boxes nearby.

"Sir?"

Atlas casually picked up a small box that contained so of the pictures of his family and himself. "He can, Allen, as he is now the head of the Bennet Family."

What Atlas said was like a gong ringing in Allen’s ear. "What?"

"Apparently, the chairman had given him the authority over everything, including running the business," Atlas casually explained, straightening his back and then facing the two with the box in his hands. "In other words, I am fired. So, he can fire you too."

Allen’s mouth fell open as his eyes dilated, darting between Atlas and Stephen. Like usual, Atlas didn’t carry any expression aside from his usual one, while Stephen smirked proudly.

"Normally, you would be walking through what I need to know. But thankfully, we do not have to prolong your suffering. So, I thought you’d appreciate it if I asked soone to clear your desk to save you ti," Stephen taunted, only to get no reaction from Atlas.

"I appreciate it," Atlas nodded. "Thanks."

Stephen’s face contorted. "If you need soone to help you with the boxes, then let know. I can call soone over to help."

"It’s alright. This is everything that I need." Atlas nodded in satisfaction, turning his back as if he were ready to leave.

"Wait, what is going on?!" Allen, who had finally recovered from shock, stepped in. "Sir Atlas, are you really just letting him say all of this and do all of this?"

Atlas blinked and nodded, riling Allen up even more.

"This can’t be happening!" Allen roared. "Even if it’s true that the chairman gave him the full authority, he can’t just kick you out! First, the chairman is still alive, and second, there should be due process to this transition! This is skipping too many steps!"

Stephen scorned. "Aren’t you being a little difficult now, Assistant Allen? Atlas isn’t even saying anything, yet you keep throwing unnecessary comnts at your new boss."

"New boss?" Allen scoffed. "Director Bennet, if you’re going to be my boss, I’d rather end up unemployed! I still have my dignity left in ."

"Allen, stop now," Atlas advised again. "Arguing with him is the complete definition of wasting your remaining dignity."

"But sir—"

"Hah! If not for Atlas, I wouldn’t have wanted to keep you around and let all of this slide!" Stephen harrumphed. "Do not push your luck any further, Assistant Allen. My patience isn’t very long, you know that."

Allen’s expression soured as he clasped his hands into a tight fist. He looked up at Atlas, teeth clenched, unable to discern which emotion was dominating his heart at the mont.

anwhile, Atlas faced Stephen once again. He carefully walked toward the desk, placing the box on it before slipping his hand into his suit pocket.

"Allen is right," he said. "There’s a due process for everything. However, the least I wanted to do was share everything I knew and learned, and even my techniques, with soone as undeserving as you. Therefore, I prepared a gift to make things easy for the both of us."

While saying this, Atlas placed a white envelope with the words [Resignation Letter] written on the back.

"Good luck in running the company, Uncle," he expressed, carrying the box with him while holding Stephen’s gaze. "It’s not going to be easy, but I hope you do not let the Bennet Family down."
