"Yes." Allen smiled at the doctor, still feeling a little weak and groggy as he nodded. His brows rose when his girlfriend squeezed his hand, flashing her a smile.

The doctors who ca to check on him asked a few more questions and checked his vitals. "Everything is looking good," the doctor said, nodding approvingly at Allen. "You’ll still be under monitoring, and we’ll run a few more tests..."

Allen and his girlfriend listened attentively, with her taking every word seriously. It was as though she were afraid she’d miss sothing important if she got distracted for even a second. After several reminders and reassurances from the doctor, the girlfriend rose to her feet.

"Thank you, doctor," she said, walking the doctors out while asking a few more questions for clarification. "Okay, I will. Thank you, doctor."

She stood outside the ward, thanking the doctors from the bottom of her heart. The doctors reassured her over and over before leaving, but she remained outside, watching them go with a grateful heart.

"Hah..." she huffed faintly, slowly turning her head to return to the ward. But just as she did, she noticed a figure seated on the waiting bench outside the VIP ward.

Pausing, she raised her brows. "Sir Atlas," she called quietly, watching Atlas rise to his feet. The second he faced her, a brief smile ford on her face as she nodded at him.

Without a word, she turned and walked back into the ward, with Atlas following her inside. anwhile, Allen stared at his palms, deep in thought.

"Allen, babe." His girlfriend’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and he turned his head toward the entrance. His gaze fell on his lover first, but he quickly noticed Atlas behind her.

Allen’s lips curved upward. "Sir Atlas."

"Babe, I called Sir Atlas when you woke up," she explained, staying by Allen’s side.

"I see." Allen nodded in understanding. He had woken up late last night but was still very groggy and fell asleep again. When he woke up this morning, his girlfriend had already told him many things, including how Atlas would often drop by to check on him.

Standing at the end of the bed, Atlas assessed Allen before eting his eyes. "I’m glad to see you waking up again," he said. "How are you feeling?"

"Good, sir," Allen replied, offering a faint smile. "Thank you."

"You don’t have to."

"But I want to," Allen stressed, aware that Atlas had protected him. "Thank you."

Atlas kept his mouth pressed into a thin line, nodding. "Now that I’m certain you’re awake, I’ll be on my way. Take care and don’t strain yourself."

With that, Atlas glanced at Allen’s girlfriend before nodding at Allen once more. He wanted to ask a few questions, but he figured today might not be the best ti. Allen had just woken up from quite a long coma. Atlas wasn’t inconsiderate enough to ignore that Allen likely needed rest.

"Sir Atlas," Allen called, stopping him just as he took a step. When Atlas looked back at him, Allen smiled at his girlfriend. "Babe, can you... get so hot soup, please? I’m a little hungry."

His girlfriend smiled subtly and nodded in understanding. "Of course," she said, squeezing his hand briefly. "I’ll get it for you. I’ll be back." After saying that, she cast a glance at Atlas and offered a short bow before leaving quietly without another word.

Atlas and Allen watched her leave, closing the door carefully behind her. Once the door was shut, Atlas turned his attention back to the patient.

"Allen, you just woke up, so don’t pressure yourself with other things," Atlas said, trying to be considerate. "We can talk about what happened and the situation once you’re better."

"Sir, I’m already better."

"No, you’re not."

Allen sighed heavily, looking at Atlas with a hint of pity. "I heard about Sven. My girlfriend told you caught the person who did this to ."

"Don’t worry about him—"

"I can’t believe he really tried to kill ," Allen breathed, casting his eyes down to hide the bitterness and fear on his face.

Atlas remained quiet. "I’m sorry."

"Huh?"

"Even though I didn’t do it, Sven is still part of my family. So, I apologize on his behalf."

"Sir Atlas..." Allen’s face softened as his shoulders relaxed a little. He wasn’t angry at Atlas—he just felt sorry for him. If anyone understood Atlas’s intentions, it was Allen. He knew that catching Sven and dealing with his family in this way was difficult for Atlas.

It might not show on Atlas’s face, but Allen was sure Atlas was blaming himself.

"Sir, thank you for believing in and fighting for ... I’m really grateful," Allen expressed. "I heard from my girlfriend that so ridiculous rumors were going around when I was found in the ergency room. But because you believed in , you cleared my na of any slanderous accusations."

"Your girlfriend isn’t very bright, is she?" Atlas replied flatly. "How could she run her mouth to soone who just woke up from a long coma?"

Allen chuckled. "Please don’t say it to her face. She’s smart, but... I guess she was just too excited that I woke up."

"Well." Atlas shrugged nonchalantly. "Your girlfriend seems to have summarized the situation while you were sleeping. I suppose I don’t need to say everything to you."

Allen just smiled subtly, looking at the look on Atlas’s face. Atlas’s expression was the sa just like how Allen rembered it.

"Anyway, I’m curious about one thing," Atlas said. "Although I still have a few questions in mind, there’s one more thing I’m sure you can answer."

"What is it, sir?"

"Why were you there that night?"

Allen sighed and smiled wryly. "I forgot my briefcase."

"It’s not the first ti you’ve forgotten your briefcase."

"Yes, but..." Allen trailed off, chuckling helplessly. "... I was so happy about the raise I received. I thought I’d finish more work and get it done ahead of ti to keep you happy. Who would’ve thought I’d end up catching Sven Bennet leaving your office in the middle of the night?"
