When Cassandra and Grace reached the parking space, they spotted a man idling around Grace’s car. He seed to be inspecting sothing around the vehicle, making Cassandra slow down.

"Uh..." Cassandra walked closer to Grace, her eyes on the man. "Attorney, who is he? Do you know him?"

Grace glanced at her but didn’t answer until she reached her vehicle. The man was already facing them, his eyes darting between them quietly.

"I didn’t know you guys were still here," Grace said to the guy. "Do you guys sleep? Or does Penny just work you all to death?"

Cassandra furrowed her brows and glanced at Grace. "Penny?"

"Yeah. He’s one of the guys Penny sent for my security," Grace casually replied, eyeing the man, Mylo. "He’s kinda weird, but she trusts him."

Grace cleared her throat and addressed Mylo. "We’re leaving. Don’t you dare stop us."

Without a word, Mylo reached for the backseat door and opened it for them. He stepped to the side, his eyes on the won.

"I’ll drive," he said flatly. "The road isn’t safe at the mont."

Grace didn’t dwell on it much as she raised an eyebrow briefly before sliding into the backseat. Cassandra hesitated, but followed. Once both won were inside, Mylo casually walked around the car and climbed into the driver’s seat.

With that, the three of them drove off toward the orphanage to ask so questions.

---

Grace glanced at the side of the road, furrowing her brows. They had been on the road for about twenty minutes, but now she noticed Mylo was taking a different route. Cassandra had already told him the address, which was near the orphanage.

"There’s quite a bit of traffic at this hour," Grace muttered, checking her wristwatch. "That’s unusual."

Cassandra also stared out her window and humd. "Yeah, that’s a bit odd. Is there an accident?"

"There was a chase earlier," Mylo answered. "So, the main road’s been sealed off for now."

"A chase?" Cassandra shifted her gaze to the driver’s seat. Even Grace looked at the rearview mirror, where she could see Mylo’s eyes focused on the road.

"There was an abduction, and it led to a chase," he explained without looking at them. "They used the main road and the highway, so there’s still traffic."

"Gosh..." Cassandra whispered, shaking her head. "That’s... horrible."

Grace nodded but didn’t think much of it. "It’s been a while since sothing like that made the news."

Curious, Grace pulled up her phone and searched for news about the chase. With how slowly they were moving, even though they were on a different route, there were still plenty of cars on the sa road. They were barely moving at all, which was frustrating. The only silver lining was that they were moving at least, not completely stuck.

Seeing her, Cassandra also pulled up her phone to check the cause of the traffic.

After a few minutes, both their brows knitted together.

"Are you joking with ?" Grace deadpanned, eyes on the driver’s seat. "There’s no news about any chase."

"I thought I was just searching for the wrong thing," Cassandra said, since she hadn’t seen anything either. At least, there was nothing from the biggest dia sites.

"The head of Holand Security probably shut down the information," Mylo said.

"The head of Holand Security? Why would she do that?"

"If not her, then it was probably Mr. Pierson," Mylo added, his voice steady as if what he was saying wasn’t surprising.

"Mr. Pierson?" Cassandra repeated. "As in, Zoren Pierson?"

Who else in the Pierson family could shut down such massive information?

"Yes," Mylo nodded.

This only confused Grace more.

"Why would Zoren Pierson not want this news spreading? It’s just a chase..." she trailed off, her brows knitting even tighter. "Who was in the chase?"

"Miss Penny," Mylo answered casually, causing the two won in the back to hold their breath, eyes wide. However, his next words would shock them even more. "But she’s the hostage. From what I heard, they got away and took her via aircraft."

Mylo’s quiet and calm voice echoed in the car while Cassandra and Grace stared at him blankly. Did Mylo just tell them that the cause of this traffic was a chase involving Penny, who was apparently a hostage?!

For a mont, Grace hoped he was joking. There was no way he was this calm after knowing his boss had been abducted. But then, she rembered Haines’ ssage.

"No way," she whispered, switching from her browser to her ssages with Haines.

[There’s an ergency, so I’m flying out tonight. I’m sorry, but I will be ho as soon as possible.]

Grace read it over and over again, focusing on the key phrase.

’Flying out tonight.’

"Don’t tell ..." she trailed off, her heart pounding in her chest. ’... the reason he’s not coming ho is that he’s flying out to join the rescue mission for Penny?!’

Grace covered her mouth in disbelief, her entire body shaking. Now, she had to worry not only about Penny but about Haines as well.

Cassandra, on the other hand, gulped nervously. "What’s going on? Why is Penny abducted?"

She glanced out the window and noticed more cars and motorists ahead, on the side, and behind their vehicle. By the sheer amount of traffic, even on a road not usually taken, she could tell that sothing huge had just happened sowhere to move all these people to take this route.

As the two won grew silent, Mylo kept his eyes on the road. After a mont, he spoke again.

"Do not worry," he said, making the passengers in the backseat turn to him. "Many people are already there to help and rescue her. They’ll make sure she cos back safe and sound."

He paused as he thought for a mont. "And it’s Miss Penny. It would be more concerning if the hostage were soone else, but Miss Penny will be fine on her own—I believe in her. I always have."

Hence, he remained calm and didn’t feel the need to join the rescue effort. After all, Penny had asked him to ensure Grace’s safety, and that’s what he intended to do.

"She asked to make sure you’d be safe," he added, glancing briefly at Grace through the rearview mirror. "For her sake, as your friend, and for her uncle’s. So, focus on the task at hand."

Grace stared back at him through the mirror, huffing sharply. In the end, she nodded and then shook her head.

"Of course," she whispered. "It’s Penny, and she’s their problem now."
