"Sir Teddy, you’re back?" one of the guards greeted Teddy outside the building as soon as he saw him walking in. "Did you forget sothing?"

Teddy offered the security guard a nod. "Just need to finish so things."

"Hehe. So diligent. Good luck!"

"Mhm." Teddy casually returned the guard’s nod before walking into the entrance of Pri Group. He might not be the friendliest, but he had made quite a few acquaintances. After all, the guards at the company were quite friendly.

With that, Teddy headed straight to the lift to his departnt.

The office was almost empty, and he walked past a few employees who were only now leaving. He couldn’t bla them—today had been extra hectic for everyone in the company.

DING!

Teddy glanced at the floor number above the elevator before the door opened. On the other side, two female employees were about to walk in—until they saw him.

"Oh," one of the won offered an awkward smile. "Sorry."

He only answered with a nod and pressed the close button. After all, the ladies were heading down to leave, but he was going to the top floor. With that, Teddy turned his attention to the floor display and waited.

DING!

This ti, he reached the CEO’s floor without stopping. As usual, he casually strolled back to their departnt—but just as he made the turn, he caught Penny walking out of her office.

"Mis—" Teddy’s voice caught in his throat when he saw Penny cast him a sharp side-eye, like she was furious.

Deep lines ford between his brows until he noticed the weapon pressed against her back.

Teddy instinctively jumped back into the hallway he had co from, peeking out slightly to see what was going on.

Then, his eyes widened, and his breath hitched.

The person walking out behind Penny and the sa person holding a gun on her back was soone he knew. Soone he had shared drinks with after work. Soone he had grown close to.

"Shawn?" he whispered, quickly pulling back behind the wall when he saw Shawn start to turn his head in his direction.

Teddy’s back pressed hard against the wall, his face pale and his eyes swirling with both dread and shock.

’What the hell is going on?’

Holding his breath, he listened closely for the faint sound of Penny and Shawn.

"Go," he heard Shawn’s quiet instruction.

And with that, Teddy heard footsteps heading his way. Judging by the sound, Penny was stomping.

"Shawn, you will regret this," Penny said loudly, making sure Teddy could hear her. "If I were you, make sure you don’t lose your hold on that little toy—or I’m going to blast your head with it."

Shawn clicked his tongue and shoved the muzzle against her back. "Stop talking, and lead the way."

Penny gulped, her eyes flicking toward the end of the hall where she’d seen Teddy monts ago. The latter had been quick enough to catch her warning with just her gaze. However, she was worried Teddy might do sothing that would make this situation go from bad to worse.

’Damn it, Teddy...’ she cursed silently. ’You better not play the hero right now.’

Because even if Penny could fight, she had quickly recognized the fighter in Shawn. And she wasn’t foolish enough to think that engaging in a brawl would save her; things like that rarely ended well. Especially with a gun securely in Shawn’s hand.

She braced herself, knowing that if Teddy was still nearby, she’d have no choice but to take a risk. She might get shot in the process, but Shawn would shoot Teddy if he saw him.

A drop of sweat trickled down her neck as they approached the lift. Her eyes stayed locked on the end of the hallway, and she almost exhaled in relief when she saw it was empty.

’Ah, goodness,’ she sighed inwardly, only to feel Shawn press the gun harder into her back.

"Go," he ordered, standing just a step behind her in front of the lift.

"Tch!" Penny glared over her shoulder. "Stop pushing ."

"The underground floor," he said coldly. "We’re leaving from there."

She clicked her tongue again and pressed the down arrow button. The lift doors opened almost imdiately, and they walked in together in the sa manner. As the doors closed in front of them, Penny glanced over her shoulder again.

"Shawn," she said. "Do you think you can get away with this? There’s a CCTV over there—"

BANG!

Shawn didn’t hesitate to shoot the CCTV cara with precision. Then, he pressed the now-heated muzzle against her back again.

"Hah." She scoffed. "Do you think that’ll erase the data from when we ca in here?"

"Miss Penny, I didn’t shoot it just because I didn’t want to be seen," he said, his tone just as cold. "This building is surrounded by CCTV caras. So the mont we ca out of your office, I knew the people in the control room would see what was happening and call for help."

He paused. "That’s why I dealt with them first before I ca to your office. It was enough to buy myself so ti."

Hearing this, Penny’s eyes constricted. Her breath stopped for a second as her hand slowly curled into a fist, hanging her head low.

"You fucker..." she hissed, assuming her n in the control room were dead. "Don’t you fucking slip—because I’m going to break you, Shawn. And I ant every word of it."

anwhile...

Teddy peeked from the ergency exit and saw the elevator doors just closing. As soon as they did, he ran over and checked the display to see where they were headed.

"I don’t know what’s going on, but..." Without hesitation, Teddy bolted toward the other elevator and rapidly pressed the buttons heading down. But seeing that the other lift was coming from the ground floor, he scowled and turned toward the ergency exit again.

He didn’t wait because sothing told him he couldn’t afford to.

With that, Teddy dashed down the ergency stairs as fast as he could, then exited a few levels below. He rushed to check the sa lift’s floor indicator.

"The underground parking," he breathed out, sprinting back toward the ergency exit with adrenaline coursing through him.

A few floors later, Teddy burst out onto another floor level and raced toward the lift. By now, he was sure Penny and Shawn would soon arrive at the underground parking.

At the sa ti, the other lift opened, and several employees stepped out.

"Out of the way!" Teddy yelled, nearly pushing them aside.

"Ouch—" one of the employees stumbled, frowning, only to catch the look of panic on Teddy’s face as he hamred the close button on the elevator panel.

Before the doors closed, Teddy turned to them.

"Hey!" he yelled. "Go to Sir Yugi and tell him... Miss Penny is in danger—NOW!"
