[From: Crazy

Don’t tell you’ve changed your mind and won’t be coming anymore. Tch. I knew it. You’re a coward! Forget it. Don’t show up if you’re going to be like this! Ginnie doesn’t deserve this!]

"Tch." Max threw his phone into the front passenger seat, gripping the steering wheel as he hunched over. He clenched his teeth, tightening his grip on the wheel. His heart was pounding in his chest, making his breathing slow and heavy.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to co.

He wanted to! ’

If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have been sitting in this parking space for over an hour now.

But...

"I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack," he whispered, clutching his chest. "Ah, goodness."

This was a first for him.

All his life, Max never had to pursue a woman. With his status, won ca to him, even when he didn’t want them to. Hence, his long list of exes. He never chased after anyone, nor had he ever felt this way about soone.

Except for this one.

He didn’t know when it started or how it happened. After all, he’d seen Ginnie from ti to ti, since she was managing another major league team while Max owned one. It was inevitable they’d run into each other.

But he knew the island trip had probably been the last straw. Was it her passion for the sa sports he loved? Or was it because, unlike all the other won around him, Ginnie didn’t seem to care much? Was it her patience with Lily, or the genuine smiles she gave for the simplest things?

"This is that woman’s fault!" he grumbled, thinking these feelings had only been amplified by Lily’s devious whispers. "Ugh..."

Max ruffled his hair and cocked his head back. Keeping his hands on the steering wheel, he closed his eyes and took deep breaths.

"I am..." he whispered, reminding himself of who he was and what kind of person he was. "This is nothing. What’s there to be afraid of? What’s there to be ashad of if I get rejected?"

He snapped his eyes open, determination shining in his gaze. "That’s right. Why am I getting nervous?"

What was there to lose?

All he had to do was confess and see how Ginnie reacted. Whatever her answer was, he would just have to accept it.

"That’s right," he muttered, nodding to himself. He glanced at the windshield, huffing in frustration. Max idled in the car for a mont before mustering enough courage to step out. As soon as he did, he walked to the backseat and opened the door.

There, in the backseat, was a bouquet.

"This is too much," he muttered, shaking his head. "Forget it."

With that thought in mind, Max waved dismissively and turned around. He slamd the door shut and walked toward the entrance of the nightclub. As soon as he stepped into the establishnt, the loud music assaulted his ears.

Scanning the area, he quickly spotted Lily in a corner, chatting happily with a few guys. Max cleared his throat and started walking toward her, but as he walked, his eyes wandered.

He quickly caught sight of a table where Hugo, Ginnie, and another woman were seated.

"Huh?" he humd, furrowing his brows as he observed the table.

The three people at the table seed to be having fun, laughing aloud. Their seating arrangent had Hugo and the other woman sitting next to each other, while Ginnie was across from them.

Grace was laughing, slapping Hugo’s shoulder as he chuckled while drinking. Ginnie had laughed at first, but then stopped to take a drink. After finishing her glass, she simply smiled at the two people across from her.

"That insensitive idiot," Max hissed, interpreting the scene in an entirely different way.

Well, no one could bla Max. After all, he knew Ginnie had feelings for Hugo. So, with Grace and Hugo seated so close and seemingly "flirting," it was insensitive of him.

When his eyes shifted back to Ginnie, his expression softened. His heart clenched, and he felt a bit sorry for her.

anwhile, at the table...

"So, are you going to be my aunt?" Hugo turned to Grace after finishing his drink.

Grace smirked at him. "Who knows?"

"Man..." Hugo shook his head in awe, patting Grace’s shoulder. "You go, girl!"

"Haha!" Grace laughed loudly while Hugo shook his head.

Unlike what Max had assud, they weren’t flirting. If anything, they were becoming closer as family. After all, Grace "joked" about being Hugo’s future aunt, and instead of being shocked, Hugo fully supported it.

"Look here." Hugo cleared his throat and leaned closer to Grace. The music and lively crowd were getting louder, so he didn’t want to keep repeating himself. "Uncle Haines is like a man with a heart frozen in an iceberg! Being too direct wouldn’t work! You need to be subtle."

"Oh?" Grace leaned against the table, cupping her chin. "So, what do you think I should do?"

"I don’t know," he admitted with a shrug. "But all I know is that he has a heart of steel. If you’re going to claim to be my future aunt, you should know it won’t be easy. Penny tried matching him with others before, but... he doesn’t take a hint."

"I see." Grace nodded in understanding. "So, I should be direct, unlike what you said."

"Huh?"

"You said it yourself," she said, "that he doesn’t take a hint. I should be direct, even if he’s old-fashioned, right?"

"Oh... wow..." Hugo was in awe, clapping. "I’m going to have an aunt!"

"Huh?"

"I an, I’m going to have an aunt!" Hugo grabbed his drink and flashed a grin at Ginnie before facing Grace again. He raised his glass and said, "Grace, good luck with that!"

"Haha." Grace playfully raised her glass and clinked it with his before taking a sip.

Ginnie, on the other hand, was just watching them, feeling a little intoxicated. However, she smiled at them and took another sip.

"Uh..." Ginnie muttered. "I think I’m getting a little drunk, but I think I’m just witnessing how Grace becos aunt of kids older than her."

"Ginnie, let’s drink more!" Hugo urged, moving his glass to clink with hers. "Free drinks!"

"Hehe." Ginnie giggled, chugging another mouthful as Hugo did the sa. "Free drinks!"

Little did Ginnie know, in soone else’s eyes, that this simple act had just been branded as a martyr’s act.

Max: How could she drink just because Hugo asked her to?!
