[BONFIRE]
"Well, this is a bit... sad," Nina couldn’t help but whisper, looking at the slightly empty bonfire. Aside from her and Finn, Allen was with them. However, Allen stayed far away and wouldn’t even look at the couple.
"Why are you sad, darling?" Finn asked, tilting his head slightly to the side. "I’m here with you."
"Finn, you know when you say that, I feel like I’m with a very dangerous person," Nina blurted out without hesitation. "I feel like I’m this close to getting locked up just so you can keep all for yourself."
Finn laughed before suddenly stopping. "You’re close to uncovering the biggest plot, Nina."
"..." Nina frowned and cupped her face. "Finn, your humor would do well with First Brother."
"Haha. I think your humor is darker, hon," he quipped, looking around the bonfire. "But you’re right. It’s quite sad now that it’s just the three of us here. I think I got used to the big group."
"I know, right?" Nina sighed before she caught sight of so figures from the corner of her eyes. "Oh, I think they’re here!"
Nina perked up, staring at the figures in the darkness. As the group got closer, her mouth curved into a smile. Approaching were Jas and Max, carrying Ray between them, his arm over their shoulders, followed by Lily and Ginnie. Even Finn and Allen shifted their attention to the group upon hearing Nina’s voice.
"What happened to him?" Finn’s first question was directed at Max and Jas, noticing that they were carrying Ray.
"Don’t ask about it," Max clicked his tongue and glared at Ray. "He’s a love struck fool. That woman almost killed him, but look at him. His eyes were swirling with hearts! He’s a lost cause. Once I get back to the city, I’m taking him with to find soone."
Although finding soone interested in Ray was not really Ray’s problem.
Jas smiled awkwardly. "I think he’ll be fine. Mint buried him in the sand, but he’ll be fine... I guess."
"Hehe. That was a good shot!" Lily happily sat down next to Nina and Finn, holding her phone. "Nina, look at this."
When Lily eagerly showed Nina and Finn the pictures she had taken, the couple couldn’t help but have their faces twitch.
"It looks like a bullying incident," Finn muttered under his breath, only to hear Lily happily say, "I’m adding this to the fan club mories. I’m thinking of hosting a fan club retreat."
"Lily, do you hate Penny?" Finn asked out of pure curiosity. "You know how much she hates the attention."
"Oh, co on! Penny loves it! What are you talking about?" Lily grinned as she retrieved her phone. "She even told she needed another reunion party and so more during the reunion!"
Nina and Finn were rendered speechless, considering whether Lily was lying. But why would she lie? There was no reason to. This was about Penny, and Lily loved Penny to the core. Still, Nina and Finn couldn’t imagine Penny giving this suggestion.
Little did they know that Lily wasn’t lying. Penny had suggested the retreat to Lily, but she’d asked for it after a few drinks.
"Anyway, where are they?" Ginnie’s voice stopped everyone, making them all look in her direction. "Didn’t Senior Hugo and Senior Atlas, along with Mark, pick up Slater and Benjamin?"
"Oh..." Jas whispered as he glanced around, letting Ray lie down on the sand while he and Max sat on the log. "Now that you ntion it, not only haven’t they co back, but Penny, Zoren, and Senior Atlas are gone too."
"And that woman." Max nodded. "Didn’t she co back here earlier?"
Everyone seed confused, finding it strange that Atlas, Hugo, and Mark hadn’t returned. Not only that, but Penny, Zoren, and even Mint were gone.
"Did they go to the bar and have fun without us?" Lily mumbled to herself, frowning. "That’s so unfair! Penny told I’m her best friend!"
As Lily complained and Ginnie told Lily she was actually Penny’s best friend, Finn felt his phone vibrate. Checking who it was, deep lines appeared between his brows upon seeing that it was Penny. Looking up at everyone, he was about to tell them that Penny was calling, but since they were all busy, he excused himself from Nina.
Taking a short walk to a distance where he could still see the bonfire but far enough to have a private conversation, he answered the call.
"Hey!" Penny’s whisper was the first thing he noticed, making him arch a brow. "Where are you?"
"We’re at the bonfire," Finn said. "Where are you?"
"Uh..." Penny cleared her throat. "We’re sowhere — on the other side of the town."
This ti, Finn’s brows crinkled. "What are you doing there? Everyone’s wondering where you guys are. Nina’s even growing a bit worried."
"I know, I know! Well, she’s my sister, so I’m sure her worry is justified." Penny cleared her throat. "Wait, don’t breathe first, Finn. I’m getting distracted."
Finn frowned at her remarks, but he tried his best to stay calm. It should be okay. This was Penny — she could be aggravating at tis, but she was very reliable.
"Finn, listen to ." The change in her tone made him arch a brow again. "This is very important, so listen very carefully."
"What’s going on?" Since her tone had changed, Finn’s did too.
"I can’t give you all the details because of the situation, but Slater and Benjamin were abducted."
"What?!"
"Calm down."
"Penelope, how can I calm down if two of our people are..." Finn clenched his teeth and looked away, breathing out, "... abducted?"
"You have to, because you don’t want our friends panicking." Penny cleared her throat. "Listen to . I need you to do sothing for ."
Finn clasped his phone tighter and pressed his lips into a thin line. He glanced at the bonfire, his eyes particularly fixed on Nina’s back as she seed to diate between Lily and Ginnie.
Slowly, he looked away from the group. His eyes glinted as he breathed out, "Tell what I should do?"
