Later that day...

"Those fools—ack!" Chairman Bennet clasped his chest dramatically, his blood pressure rising at the news on the television. "Ugh... those brats. They really—aren’t they going overboard?! How could they do this to our Bennet family!? Oh, good lord!"

Grace, who had just entered the ward, paused when she heard Chairman Bennet’s grumblings. A shallow breath slipped past her nostrils, and she dragged her feet inside.

"Good evening, Chairman Bennet." A smile took over her face as soon as she stood close to his bed. Glancing at the business news report on the television, she quickly understood what had made the old man angry.

"I was hoping you wouldn’t see it before I could tell you, but it seems... my work took up so much of my ti today." A wry smile crossed her face again as she walked over to the chair beside the bed. She placed her purse down, her eyes scanning the chairman. "How are you, Chairman?"

"Hmph! How dare you ask how I am?! Can’t you see?!" Chairman Bennet pointed at the television, his eyes on her. "My son is trying to bring down our Bennet family’s hard work. What am I going to tell our predecessors if they find out I let Global Pri Logistics fall under my watch?"

"..." Grace opened her mouth but then closed it again.

"Why are you closing your mouth?! Did you just change your mind about telling the details, young lady?!" Chairman Bennet gasped in disbelief, watching Grace slide her eyes to the corner. "Fine! If you don’t want to tell what’s going on, I’ll just leave and fix it myself!"

With that, Chairman Bennet reached for his IV drip pole and flung his legs out of the bed. As soon as he was seated on the edge of the bed, he slipped his feet into his indoor slippers. He didn’t waste a second as he stood, fueled by anger. This couldn’t go on.

Charles was obviously making a move on Global Pri Logistics. Worse, he had joined forces with the Miller family! Even if Stephen had his talents and skills, Chairman Bennet knew the latter wouldn’t stand a chance. Not to ntion, Atlas was now a part of the Pierson Corporation as its new COO! Even if Charles ssed up, the fact that Atlas was second in command at Pierson Corporation ant people would turn a blind eye to it.

With all these thoughts in his mind, he dragged his feet away. Only after taking a few more steps did he notice Grace was not stopping him.

"Huh?" Chairman Bennet glared in Grace’s direction, catching her holding back a yawn. "Hey, young lady, I said I’m leaving!"

Grace fluttered her eyelashes slowly and nodded. "Yes, I heard, Chairman."

"I’m going out of here," Chairman Bennet repeated as if she might be thinking he ant sothing else—Atlas had traumatized people. "Out of this room."

"Yes, that’s what you said."

"And I’m going to the company to fix all this!"

"Uh-huh." Grace kept nodding in understanding, covering her mouth as she couldn’t stop yawning this ti. She then flashed Chairman Bennet a short but genuine smile. "Chairman, I heard everything you said."

"If so, then why aren’t you stopping ?" Chairman Bennet narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Don’t tell you have people ready to knock out the mont I open that door?!"

"Haha. Chairman, I didn’t know you had such a wild imagination. I guess Slater Bennet got his creativity from you." Grace picked up her things and pushed herself up, facing him squarely. "However, I can guarantee that if you want to go ho, you may leave anyti you want. There’s nothing like that; you are not a prisoner, Chairman."

She tilted her head slightly to the side, trying to hide the exhaustion under her eyes. "Like I said, I’m just here to accompany you and make sure you’re doing well. I’m here to keep you safe and that’s my job. But keeping you in a place against your will is not part of it. Not breaking the law is a promise I made with myself and with Penny."

Deep lines appeared between Chairman Bennet’s brows as he recalled everything he had exchanged with Grace. What she said was true, and now that he thought about it, she had never forced him to stay.

"So, if you feel like going ho now will put your mind at ease, I’d gladly drive you ho myself," she added in the sa considerate tone. "But before that, I have one question: Do you really think your son will let anything happen to Global Pri Logistics? The very source of inco that fed his family?"

Silence enveloped the room as the two stared at each other. The corner of Chairman Bennet’s mouth hooked down while Grace’s smile stretched slightly.

"It’s been a long day for , Chairman," she said. "Please, go back to your bed if you believe your family will handle things and protect everything under the Bennet na in their own way. Otherwise, I’ll call soone to drive you ho."

Chairman Bennet scowled, glaring at her, then huffed. In the end, he dragged his feet back to his bed.

"Bossing around like I’m a kid... tch. Kids these days really don’t know how to respect their elders," he complained as he climbed back into bed.

Grace chuckled weakly, watching the chairman settle in. Satisfied, she flashed him another smile.

"I only ca here today to check on you and update you on the situation outside. But since you’ve already seen it, I’m going ho now, Chairman." Grace lowered her head politely. "I’ll co again tomorrow."

Having said that, she turned her back on him and strode off. anwhile, the chairman scowled at her retreating figure.

"Young lady," his call made her stop. She turned back to look at him. "Tell one thing. Is this part of their plan?"

Grace smiled subtly. "I wouldn’t be here, but working overti if not." When she saw him nod and calm down, she asked, "Is there anything else you want to ask, Chairman?"

"No." He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I might be old, but I don’t need anyone spoon-feeding everything! At my age, I’ve seen enough to figure out the obvious."

"Very well." She nodded in understanding. "If that is all, then I’m leaving. I’ll see you tomorrow, Chairman."

With that, Grace resud her steps because all she wanted right now was to throw herself into bed. It had been a hell of a week for her, and today, with all the legalities Penny needed, she had to do extra work to provide Penny with the best services Grace could offer.

"Don’t work too hard. If you’re not thinking of a husband to take care of you, at least do it for yourself. You’ll get sick if you keep pushing yourself. You should look in the mirror and see for yourself that you’re looking more and more like a corpse every day. Young people these days are just too aggressive — tch!"

Her steps halted when she heard Chairman Bennet’s classic grumpy voice. Looking back at him, she saw him holding his arms across his chest and rolling his eyes grumpily. Her expression softened as she smiled and nodded at him before resuming her steps.

"Good night, Chairman."
