Once Patricia got inside her room, she scread loudly out of frustration. She glared at the door as if she could see Theo’s face plastered on it. She spent an hour just hating her big brother, cursing him in her heart.

"He always sses things up for ," she harrumphed, seated on the edge of the bed with her arms crossed and her legs resting over the other. "This isn’t the first ti he’s done this to ."

Even over a decade ago, Theo had ssed things up for Patricia. When Theo got into the Star Section, Patricia had been the proudest. After all, her brother was part of the special class at the most prestigious school in Anteca. Everyone who graduated from the Summit School of Excellence as a Star Section student was considered a successful and valuable contributor to society.

But alas... not only did Theo make himself a laughingstock, but he was also the reason her crush wouldn’t even look her way. Theo was the reason Finn used to look at her in disgust, and everyone around her often used Theo whenever they argued with her.

It was a tough ti for her, and Patricia often cried herself to sleep. But as the saying goes, there was a rainbow after the rain. Just when Patricia found people who liked her — even though they were from a higher class — and she was getting her normal school life back on track, Theo convinced their parents to send them abroad.

She didn’t like it there; she knew no one. Her friends, her relatives, and all the people who found her adorable were in Anteca. In Anteca, she was the main star. But Theo, as the firstborn, got what he wanted regardless of her opposition.

Thinking of the past made her feel very bitter, to the point that her eyes stung with frustration.

"I hate him," she breathed out. "If only he had done well back then... instead of cowering and dragging into studying abroad."

She glared at the door once more. "I should’ve known just how useless he is. Even when he graduated with flying colors, he’s still plain dumb. Did he think I wouldn’t find out that he’s just purposely freezing my accounts to make suffer? Hah!"

DING!

Patricia’s bouts of rage and bitterness halted for a mont when her phone pinged. Arching a brow, she reached for it and checked who it was.

It was the mystery person she had been in contact with.

"Damn it," she hissed. "I told him I’d get the papers tonight."

Again, this was Theo’s fault.

He was truly hindering her from earning money so she could gain independence.

"I need to get it," she breathed out, determination shining in her eyes. "This ti, I won’t let him hinder . I’ll show him... and all of them that I can do it all on my own."

Patricia shifted her focus to the phone, texting the person with a short and precise ssage.

[I’ll get it tonight. I already saw the docunt, but my brother ca. Don’t worry. I’ll give you the docunt and then send my money.]

After sending that ssage without any fear, as if she had no idea what kind of person she was contacting—nor was she interested in knowing—Patricia began to cook up a plan in her head. Silence quickly enveloped the room, and she could hear the ticking of the clock.

Minutes felt longer, and the waiting seed endless. For so reason, she felt like ti was moving slower than usual, but she exercised patience. Patricia waited and waited until the clock hit eleven in the evening.

"Mom and Dad probably got ho and are asleep," she whispered to herself, eyes fixed on the clock. "But that insufferable brother of mine..."

Patricia clenched her teeth but then breathed in and out. "Another hour, and I’m going to act."

This should be easy. After all, even if she hated her brother, she knew everyone’s schedule in the house. Theo might stay up late, but once he was in his room, he wouldn’t co out until the next day. It was the sa for her parents. Hence, she waited until it was midnight.

Patricia carefully tiptoed downstairs. As expected, only a few lights were on, enough to guide anyone walking around at night. With the lack of helpers in the mansion, she easily reached her father’s study without a problem.

Just to make sure she wouldn’t get caught again, Patricia pressed her ear to the door. She focused all of her attention, trying to listen for any noise inside in case soone was still there. When she was sure no one was in, she opened the door very carefully. She peeked through the small gap for one last confirmation before quickly stepping in and locking the door behind her.

"Phew!" she heaved a sigh of relief, followed by an arrogant smirk. "That’s easy."

With such confidence and arrogance in her heart, Patricia didn’t hesitate to approach the desk. She had already locked the door, so she could take her ti. If soone tried to co in, she could just hide. She had planned this during those long hours of waiting, and she knew she would succeed.

After tonight, she would leave this house and get herself a nice place. Perhaps she would start a new clothing line or a business that would sustain her lifestyle. With the money she would receive after sending that docunt, it shouldn’t be that hard. Her future was bright as long as she did this.

Patricia felt giddy as she opened the drawer, imagining the bright future ahead of her. However, her bright grin slowly faded when she reached the last file.

"Huh?" Her brows furrowed as she took out the whole stack of files. She checked them one by one, thinking she must have missed it the first ti because of her excitent. But alas, even after checking a third and then fourth ti... the file she had seen earlier that night was nowhere in sight.

anwhile, in Theo’s bedroom, he sat down on the swivel chair. His arm rested on the desk with his hand holding a glass of whiskey. His other hand held a file — the Miller Company and Pri Group buyout agreent and its terms and conditions.
