After dinner, the Yan siblings, Song Yi, and Yu Suye met again to continue their discussion about starting a company.

It wasn't until nearly eleven at night that the four finally signed their names, one by one, on the revised investment and cooperation agreement.

The agreement also specified the allocation of company shares for the Yan siblings' seven-million investment.

Yan Ziruo would hold the company shares corresponding to a two-million investment.

Yan Feifan, in turn, authorized his sister to exercise the voting rights for his 17.86% stake in the company.

The three parties also pledged to transfer their respective investment funds to the designated bank account within one month.

Yan Ziruo brought out a bottle of red wine and three glasses from her room, exclaiming excitedly, "A moment this important calls for a celebratory drink!"

Seeing that Yan Feifan didn't have a glass, Song Yi asked, "Feifan, you really don't drink at all?"

Yan Ziruo answered for her brother. "He doesn't drink, and he can't. Two liquor-filled chocolates are enough to get him completely wasted."

Song Yi's eyes lit up. "Extraordinary Medical will definitely become a major medical conglomerate in the country one day."

"This is such a major moment in your life. How about just one small sip?"

She added persuasively, "Feifan, we're at your place. It doesn't matter if you get drunk, right?"

Yu Suye chimed in, "Feifan, just one small sip. If you really get drunk, I... and your sister will take care of you."

Yan Feifan rolled his eyes at them and ignored the comment.

Yan Ziruo chuckled. "Let's not make him drink. When Feifan gets drunk for real, he's a real handful. Quite annoying, actually."

Song Yi and Yu Suye looked a little disappointed, but they didn't press the issue.

In the end, three glasses of red wine and a cup of tea clinked together...

「The next day was Monday.」

Yan Feifan and Yu Suye rode their bikes to the Affiliated Hospital, arriving before eight to begin their familiar routine of work and study.

The work environment was the same, and their duties were largely unchanged. The only thing new was the patients.

In the morning, the local orphanage sent over two children with disabilities for a detailed examination at the plastic surgery center.

One of the children suffered from severe scar contracture and adhesions from burns around their mouth. This had caused their mouth to shrink to less than half its normal size.

The other child's right hand was curled into a fist, the fingers fused together by burn scars.

A nurse took the two children for a series of examinations.

Yan Feifan and Yu Suye only had a chance to meet the children and personally examine their injuries during their lunch break.

They spent the entire morning under Mrs. Qin's supervision, practicing how to treat various injuries to male testicles.

This included common ruptures as well as more serious cases requiring replantation and suturing.

That morning, Mrs. Qin was in high spirits and even taught them how to remove a patient's male genitalia for the purpose of gender reassignment.

Both Yan Feifan and Yu Suye were very diligent students.

After all, the Affiliated Hospital's plastic surgery center was the only medical facility in Binhai capable of performing gender reassignment surgery.

Perhaps they would one day have the chance to use a scalpel to turn a man into a woman.

Or a woman into a man.

"I once had a patient who self-harmed..."

Qin Ying said wistfully, "He was a young man who identified as a woman. But because his parents were vehemently against it, he could never get gender reassignment surgery."

"So one day, he harmed himself."

"At the time, he even begged me to just cut everything off..."

"Mrs. Qin, did you agree?" Yu Suye asked curiously.

Qin Ying shook her head. "For one, his self-inflicted injuries weren't that severe. For another, I'm a doctor. That kind of action isn't permissible."

She warned them gravely, "Feifan, Su Ye, as surgeons, your medical judgment must be your standard for operating. You must never let a patient's pleas sway you into making an emotional decision."

"Otherwise, you'll land yourselves in huge trouble."

Qin Ying went on, "I also once had a patient who insisted that I amputate his perfectly healthy left arm."

"There are people like that?" Yu Suye asked, surprised.

Qin Ying nodded. "Spend enough time in a hospital, and you'll find there's no end to the patients who defy imagination."

"Getting a light bulb stuck in your mouth? That's child's play by comparison."

Yu Suye let out an "oh," then said with a hint of regret, "I was always at Baining Hospital for my internship and work, so I've seen relatively few bizarre cases."

She turned to Yan Feifan, whose hands were busy, and asked, "Feifan, what's the most bizarre patient you've ever had?"

"Give me an example!"

Yan Feifan replied offhandedly, "When I was an intern in the ER, I once had a young woman come in."

"Her... private area... had been torn open."

Before Yu Suye could ask, he continued, "It was torn by chopsticks, one after another. She said she wanted to see how many she could fit in there!"

Yu Suye's eyes went wide. "So? How many did she actually fit in there?"

Qin Ying cleared her throat. "Alright, that's enough of this silly topic."

She then added sternly, "You should be discussing the strange and unusual medical conditions you encounter, not swapping vulgar, sensationalist stories like this."

"Yes, Mrs. Qin!"

Yu Suye and Yan Feifan replied in unison.

But Yu Suye felt a little indignant. 'Weren't you the one who brought this topic up in the first place, Mrs. Qin?' she grumbled to herself.

'I'll have to ask Feifan later...'

A little after eleven in the morning, Section Chief Li Xinmin from the Binhai Health Commission and a young investigator, Sun Xian, walked out of the Affiliated Hospital's main administrative building.

"Section Chief, we're leaving already?"

"Aren't we going to verify the situation with that young expert, Yan Feifan? The one who's still just a resident?"

Sun Xian deliberately stressed the words "resident" and "expert."

Li Xinmin glanced at him and said flatly, "That's no longer necessary."

"The evidence provided by the Affiliated Hospital is more than enough to prove that the young Mr. Yan possesses an unparalleled and outstanding skill when it comes to puncture injections for intraspinal tumors."

"In this particular medical technique, it's no exaggeration to call Mr. Yan a one-of-a-kind expert."

"Huashan Hospital invited him to perform the surgery in his capacity as an expert, all the paperwork was in order, and the patient's post-operative recovery has exceeded all expectations."

"In this matter, the family's complaint is baseless. The case is closed. There's no need to disturb Mr. Yan any further."

Sun Xian muttered with a hint of jealousy, "Just a few punctures, and he gets an expert fee of fifteen thousand."

"No wonder so many people complain that they can't afford to go to the hospital or get treated."

Li Xinmin's expression darkened. "Sun Xian, if you were that patient, would you rather spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair, or would you pay an extra fifteen thousand to be able to live independently?"

Sun Xian gave an embarrassed laugh and changed the subject. "Section Chief, I hear Mr. Cheng might be transferred back to the Health Commission to ride out his time until retirement."

"I hear the competition for the director's position at the Affiliated Hospital is fierce, isn't it?"

Li Xinmin sighed. "It's the biggest and best hospital in Binhai. The additional perks that come with being the director are self-evident."

"Except this time, they're fighting over two positions: the Party Committee Secretary, who holds ultimate responsibility, and the Hospital Director."

"According to the state's public hospital management reforms, the Party Committee Secretary is, in principle, no longer allowed to concurrently serve as the Hospital Director..."
