Chapter 4: Talent and Hardwork!
"Arthur! Listen to . I’m happy you can hunt a C-class monster all by yourself now, but you have to let
know before you go running off on your own!" Sedah, with mixed feelings of anxiousness and pride, tells off Arthur. Sedah then closed one of his eyes and raised his fist to his mouth while he had his arm across his chest. "Ahem!...so how long did it take for you to hunt down a berauin?" Sedah asked with curiosity with great anticipation, even though the tone of his voice hadn’t reflected his optimistic expectation.
"Just a few minutes!" Arthur said ecstatically, full of smugness on his face.
"Well, at least your training is paying off! Good job! One day you’ll get as strong as ! Haha! Ah!" Sedah praised the young Arthur joyously, but a sudden thought dawned on him. "Ah! I shouldn’t praise him too much, right? Or he’ll grow too cocky for his own good."
Sedah quickly changed his elated deanour to be a little more serious. "Rember, just because you’re a natural-born talent doesn’t an you get off easy; now, let’s work on your sword–" Sedah abruptly stopped speaking. He swerved his head to look down on the forest of Vastos as he could feel an imnse magical presence coming towards them at high speed.
"Arthur, get inside the cave; there is sothing–no–soone dangerous. Run inside the cave now." Sedah’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Arthur with his arms folded.
"But- "
"No buts. Now." Sedah told Arthur while turning his direction in the vast forest. He firmly had both of his feet on the ground, waiting patiently to confront a familiar presence.
Arthur ran hurriedly inside the cave, his mind filled with worries. "What could make master so on edge?"
Just then before Arthur could reach the cave, his knees shook and gave out, making him fall.
Sedah is the strongest. Nobody in Vastos or the world could prove otherwise. There is nobody close enough to kill him. However, it wasn’t always like this...yes! There was once a man, who was able to rival Sedah! This man had bested Sedah in swordsmanship!
"I can’t move...I can’t speak" Fear had completely and utterly overwheld Arthur. He tried to turn his eyes towards Sedah and this unknown man but his body just wouldn’t allow it! Sweat had dripped from his face and Arthur continued to kneel on the ground, feeling helpless and frustrated at his own cowardice. In this mont, Arthur’s lack of strength beca clear to him.
Sedah’s blood started to flow more quickly once the dark-robed man ca into sight. Long, crimson hair and an eye patch on his right. A bag under his other eye. His left eye was white as if it were blank, but he was nothing if not focused.
"Sedah...so this is where you’ve been hiding for all these years."
"Hiding? Hah! From what? You? This world, including you had bored ! You’re not even worthy to put up a decent challenge for
now!" Sedah was feeling a rush of adrenaline as he provoked the robed man.
A suffocating pressure of magic exuded from the mysterious man. Stretching outward with his right arm, out of nothing, a katana had ford, and he clenched it with a tight grip.
"A katana, huh? Great! It’ll be a good toothpick for !" Sedah exclaid with great confidence while spreading both his arms out.
A clash of magic shook the very land beneath! No monster dared to be anywhere near, monsters had spread, running away from their habitat; they all fled from the great big forest of Vastos.
Arthur was hysterically gasping for air, breathing in and out continuously. It felt as if he was going to choke to death. He gritted his teeth and managed to muster the strength to turn towards the direction of the oncoming fight between Sedah and this powerful, unknown foe.
Swiftly, the man charged at Sedah with his katana; Arthur had seen eight different slashes with one swing from the man. However, just as swiftly, Sedah had dodged all seemingly eight fast slashes.
"Hold on a second!" Sedah raised his hands while a playful smirk ford on his face. "Ti out, alright? I don’t even have my sword! We can’t call this a fair fight, can we?" In an instant, Sedah vanished, reappearing by Arthur’s side.
The tension dissolved slightly, but the air was still thick.
"Arthur." Sedah’s voice softened as he glanced down at him, still pinned by the overwhelming presence. "Just now, how many slashes did you count?"
The swordsman looked annoyed.
"E-eight!" Arthur replied, trying to catch his breath. Both Sedah and the man looked surprised.
"Sedah, you found yourself a real talent, how interesting. Boy! How old are you?"
"I’m six...I think?" replied Arthur. His mind was baffled by the swordsman’s strength. Soon the intense pressure of the atmosphere had completely disappeared and Arthur slowly stood back up.
"You’re six years old and could perceive eight of my slashes. Haha! You truly are impressive; I can see why you decided to keep him, Sedah." The unknown man grinned cheerfully as if he hadn’t just a mont ago attacked Sedah.
"Enough you damm swordsman, just who the hell are you?! And what business do you have fighting with my master!"
"Spirit too! What a great kid! You have the potential to beco a strong warrior. Your eyes have great perception. However! You did not perceive all my slashes. I had swung fifteen different kinds of slashes. Quite impressive, no?" The swordsman held up two peace signs while still smiling, showing his teeth.
"That just ans I dodged fifteen swings, which is even more impressive!" Sedah replied with a competitive spirit while crossing his arms.
"Haha! Regardless! Today, I did not co to fight you Sedah. That past is behind us, there’s sothing else I’d like to discuss with you."
"Oh? What’s this, you ca to
to just ta-"
"-A contract may be being made."
"Fine...I’ll hear you out."
