Nfirea turned around, looking at the approaching old woman with an awkward expression. "Grandma."
"There's no place here for your so-called goodwill."
"Purchasing and gathering herbs during the Royal Trials is the correct thing to do," the elderly woman said, hands clasped behind her back. Her wrinkled face showed a hint of impatience, and her tone carried a trace of anger.
"Yes, Grandma."
Nfirea reached up and ruffled his golden short hair, replying softly.
Listening to their brief exchange, Lyle finally understood why this grandmother-grandchild pair, who should have been in the border city of E-Rantel, had appeared in the royal capital.
The realization flashed through his mind as he struggled to maintain his composure.
Though Nfirea's grandmother, Lizzie, looked like a frail old lady, she was far from ordinary. While her role in the ani might not have been prominent, she was the most renowned alchemist in E-Rantel and a genuine Tier 3 magic caster.
Based on her level, she was at least Level 15. Among humans, she was already considered a strong individual. For soone like Lyle, who had just begun his journey in this world, she was absolutely soone not to be provoked.
Lizzie's sharp gaze swept over Lyle, first eyeing the dagger at his waist, then his slightly muscular arms.
"Let's go, Nfirea," she said without emotion, turning away and walking off with her hands behind her back.
"Yes, Grandma."
Nfirea quickly answered and took a step toward the street. However, he hesitated, turned back, and addressed Lyle.
"You're here to see the duel between Gazef Stronoff and Brain Unglaus, right? I've heard that the arena seats are very expensive."
"Here, take this waterskin. Eating black rye bread without soaking it can make it hard to swallow," Nfirea added, pulling a waterskin from his waist and offering it to Lyle.
'This guy... He's kind of annoying.'
Lyle's cheeks twitched. If he weren't already familiar with Nfirea's well-aning but slightly overbearing personality, he might have been suspicious of such sudden kindness from a stranger.
Moreover, as an orphan, Lyle had never liked unsolicited goodwill.
"No, I—"
Just as Lyle was about to refuse, Nfirea shoved the waterskin into his hands.
Suddenly, sothing happened!
Lyle's expression shifted. It wasn't because of Nfirea's insistence on giving him the waterskin but because, at the mont of contact, a notification flashed on his status panel.
[Ding—]
[Contact with dual special basic classes—Alchemist (Genius) and Apothecary (Genius)—has triggered conditions for unlocking an ordinary class.]
[Class unlocked: Genius.]
[Warning: This class is ordinary and provides no attribute bonuses.]
Seeing the notification, Lyle's arm trembled involuntarily.
In the ga YGGDRASIL, combat-oriented classes were divided into Basic, Interdiate, and Advanced/Specialized tiers. There were also non-combat classes categorized as Ordinary.
These were essentially production-oriented jobs!
Classes like Apothecary, Alchemist, Blacksmith, Farr, and rchant were more suited for logistics roles than direct combat.
In this otherworldly realm, however, ordinary classes encompassed not only production jobs but also roles unheard of in the ga, such as Slave, Maid, Noble, Prince, King, and Princess.
Even so, these ordinary roles were often inferior to production jobs. Roles like "Prince" or "Noble" were inherited at birth, while "Slave" was an automatic designation based on life circumstances.
This was a fundantal difference between the denizens of this world and the players.
Players could actively seek out and choose classes. By contrast, the people of this world gained classes passively through life experiences, whether they wanted them or not.
"Job activation!"
Without hesitation, Lyle ntally confird the job change.
Previously torn between pursuing a warrior or caster class, Lyle now decisively opted for an ordinary class that offered no direct combat benefits.
In that mont, it happened.
Lyle's face lit up with excitent.
While ordinary classes didn't boost combat abilities directly, in this otherworld, classes not found in the ga weren't necessarily useless.
[Class activated: Genius, Level 1.]
[Genius (Ordinary): This class can substitute any basic or ordinary class and adapt as needed for specific circumstances.]
[Note: Due to this class's unique nature, leveling up will not enhance base stats or grant any inherent class traits upon conversion.]
Lyle stared at the information on his panel, struggling to suppress his excitent.
"Are you okay?" Nfirea asked, his voice filled with concern as he noticed Lyle tightly gripping his hand.
"Sorry, thank you." Lyle snapped out of his thoughts, quickly released his grip, and sincerely accepted the waterskin.
This gratitude was heartfelt.
"It's nothing," Nfirea replied with a casual nod, seemingly unaware of the monuntal change he had just triggered. He turned and hurried off to catch up with his grandmother.
Watching Nfirea's retreating figure, Lyle took a deep breath, his eyes shining with exhilaration.
He never imagined that he would unlock such an exceptionally rare class!
With the Genius class, he no longer needed to agonize over choosing a basic class. It also eliminated one major obstacle in constructing his build.
Most importantly, it drastically increased his margin for error.
To Lyle's knowledge, only one other person in this world possessed the Genius class: the Golden Princess, Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself of the Re-Estize Kingdom.
She was also known as the "Ruinous Princess."
Her unique "Princess (Commander)" class was a transformation of the Genius class.
Such an ultra-rare class was sowhat wasted in the hands of Renner or any other native of this world.
In the hands of a player, however, this class could truly shine.
Lyle felt a sense of relief. It was as if a tightly stretched string had finally loosened. The despair he had been carrying faded slightly. Even though he had acquired an ordinary job, the future no longer seed as bleak.
"I've just learned sothing important," Lyle muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming.
The interaction with Nfirea had unexpectedly triggered the conditions for unlocking an ordinary class. This was both surprising and enlightening.
Additionally, he realized that physical contact with weapons could also unlock jobs. This discovery provided him with two crucial insights about his "player" identity and its special traits.
However—
The fact that he could only unlock ordinary classes, rather than production jobs like Alchemist or Apothecary, suggested that regular interaction alone shouldn't have triggered the class activation.
"Could it be because Nfirea's dual Genius traits as an Alchemist and Apothecary accidentally activated the conditions for the Genius class?" Lyle speculated, deep in thought.
