"What?" Hall Master Varek frowned.
Jerry laughed. "Hall Master Varek, things have gotten quite bad in your Ouroboros Hall, as well for your Ouroboros Hall. The higher-ups might not be pleased with this recent incident."
"What incident? Don’t go in circles."
Jerry Lockham waved his hand as a small device struck the center of his dining table, before projecting out a large hologram with sections.
One section showed the video that had spread regarding the black deeds of Jason and Tavros, their own conversation against each other.
Another section showed Azelis’s announcent video, and the last section had details written.
Hall Master Varek turned completely silent, his pupils enlarging as his attention was entirely on the hologram.
Three seconds later, he turned to Jerry, his voice flat and cold. "The two rats you were feeding did this. What do you have to say about that?"
"Hall Master Varek. Why don’t we beco frank and open since things have co to this?" Jerry sat down across Varek, a smile on his face.
"The reputation of Ouroboros Hall is declining. The people of Ouroboros City want to see sothing done about the atrocity that has occurred. They want Jason and Tavros punished."
"If nothing is done, you can expect more Tars to leave and a decline in new Tars joining. I’m afraid this will not please your higher-ups. But we still have enough ti before the next Grand Convention happens to get good results."
Hall Master Varek narrowed his eyes. "And?"
Jerry chuckled. "We have no problem if you execute Jason and Tavros. In fact, we will help you track them since they are nowhere to be found."
"In turn, we want sothing."
Jerry Lockham’s eyes glinted, and his grin turned nefarious. "Now that Azelis has resigned. The Lockham family will get her forcefully, and we will not appreciate interference from others."
’What have you done, Azelis?’ Hall Master Varek internally sighed. ’You shouldn’t have resigned...’
Now he wouldn’t be able to protect her even if he wanted to.
"Anyway, enjoy your food and take your ti thinking what to do next. I was just here to tell you this important news and the stance of the Lockham family."
Jerry got up and left as the hologram device automatically flew back to him.
Hall Master Varek put the spoon down before he took a deep breath and conjured a misty bubble in front of him.
After putting his mouth inside, he opened it and...scread at the top of his lungs as the bubble beca bigger and bigger and bigger, indicating the size of his frustration.
All the while, there was utter silence in the room.
After it was big enough to pop out of the pavilion and extended upward, a total of 3 minutes later, Hall Master Varek finally stopped.
The misty balloon flew up in the sky several kiloters above before exploding in a loud bang.
Down in the pavilion, Hall Master Varek looked calm and began eating, except that his face was a shade whiter.
’Brother, the promise I’ve made is on the verge of breaking, and I feel powerless. Which path should I take? A path where I accept this selfish desire and break the promise to live, for the future, or a path where I selflessly try to keep the promise even if it ans death?’
The image of his sworn brother, who was none other than Azelis’s father, flashed in his mind.
’Brother, I have a wife now, too, and a child turning five years old soon. I want to make her a great Tar. They are up there, where you wanted to go, but if I try to keep this promise, I will lose them.’
Hall Master Varek couldn’t push down the first bite of the food he ate as tears dropped from his eyes.
’I can’t keep my promise, brother.’
...
By the ti John and Azelis arrived at the secret island, John had finished learning the basic level of Starlight Rider.
However, its minimum cost was 125 soul energy, making it quite expensive to use in the battle.
’I have to get Light Mastery as soon as possible.’
Having Light Mastery Level 1 would considerably reduce the cost. Fortunately, he had Space Mastery already, or the cost would have been even higher.
"So where’s the island?" John asked as the dragon stopped, but there was no island in the surroundings.
Azelis smiled and took out a beautiful blue crystal with red and purple patterns.
Suddenly, John felt a buzz in space as he was now sensitive to space matter.
"A spatial fold?!" John was startled as the space in front of him suddenly expanded as if it had been folded before, and an island roughly 2-kiloter in radius appeared.
The left part of the island had exotic trees in arrays with beautiful fruits hanging on them, while the right part of the island had various plant-type resources growing.
"Welco to the Ravendor Island," Azelis said as she looked at the island with pride as well as a bit of sadness. "This is the island my parents cultivated with their lifeti of adventure, bearing a dream for three of us."
John could feel Azelis’s state and said, "Your parents must be aweso, Azelis. And I promise you, whoever took them away from you will suffer so much they will beg for death."
"With what you have shown so far, I have no doubt anymore," Azelis said as she turned to John, feeling a bit complicated as she smiled. "I can’t believe just one day ago, you were about to beco my apprentice, and now..."
Shaking her head, she looked ahead. "Anyway, let’s go and use everything we need. This island has a vast variety of resources of all ranks, including a small patch of Sovereign-rank resources."
"I can’t wait." John grinned. "Also, how far is Nexus City from here?"
Rubbing his hand, John’s eyes glinted coldly as he added. "Once we are prepared, we have to make a rather good entry there, but before that, I want to take a look there."
"When do you want to go?"
"Not in a hurry. I want to break through to Gold-rank first and succeed in the experint to free the Emperor-rank Pets, so I can evolve one and get us a Sovereign-rank Pet guardian."
"In that case, are you able to put this island in your Monster Paradise?" Azelis asked. "There’s a chance that this island will get discovered, and I for sure know that so people are after it. That’s why I’ve only co here twice before so far, only when I am sure it was safe because I couldn’t always be sure if so people were tailing since my movents were usually known to multiple people."
"But nobody knows your location now since the unexpected move. Yeah, let put this island in the Monster Paradise."
John jumped and used Starlight Rider as he arrived on the Island.
In the next second, the entire island vanished as a cavity ford on the ocean.
John put the island in the far corner of the Monster Paradise. He had barely 40% of the Monster paradise, so there was still plenty of space for this small island.
After embedding it in the Monster Paradise’s soil by making perfect space for it using Molding Essence, John exited and used Umbral Drift as he arrived back on the dragon.
"Done. Let’s go inside."
Azelis, the dragon, and John vanished, entering Monster Paradise.
