Chapter 589: Will you marry her? Chapter 589: Will you marry her? Ti flowed in the air, minute by minute, and the door to the operating room remained tightly closed.
Arnold Johnson stared at the closed door, and suddenly his mind went blank.
At that mont, his phone rang. It was a call from Victoria Garcia.
After hesitating for a while, he answered the call.
“What are you doing?” Victoria sounded very sweet over the phone.
Arnold said, “Hmm, I’m dealing with so things, what’s up?”
“No big deal, I just wanted to invite you to our company’s anniversary celebration in three days. It’s an internal dinner party, would you like to co?” Victoria asked.
After all, their relationship was public now, and there was nothing wrong with her bringing her fiancé to the company’s anniversary celebration.
Arnold didn’t give her a definite answer right away, “I’m not sure if I can attend now, but I’ll try.”
Although Arnold’s tone sounded calm, Victoria felt that he must be hiding sothing from her because it was not his style.
Usually, he would have already accepted the invitation with a smile and teased her a lot.
“Where are you?” Victoria asked cautiously.
Looking at the door, he didn’t know what to say.
Arnold’s silence made Victoria even more certain that sothing must be going on or about to happen.
“Tell where you are, I’ll co find you now,” Victoria said urgently.
But Arnold didn’t want her to show up at this ti because the Johnson family would probably be arriving soon. The reason they hadn’t co yet was that Grand Lady Johnson was undergoing testing; once they confird that there was no danger there, they would naturally co here.
When that happened, Victoria would beco the target of everyone’s criticism.
“Don’t co over,” Arnold refused her.
To Victoria’s recollection, Arnold seed never to have refused her before. This was the first ti.
“I’m at the hospital,” Arnold provided an explanation.
“What happened? Are you injured?” Victoria instinctively showed concern, but then realized sothing was off. If he was injured, he wouldn’t let her visit him, so it must be soone else who was injured.
Sure enough, Arnold said, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. It’s Chloe Johnson who’s injured. She’s still being treated.”
Hearing that Chloe was injured, Victoria couldn’t help but feel a sudden tightness in her heart, as if sothing had pierced her.
“Where is she injured?” Victoria still asked.
Arnold didn’t hide the truth from her, “Near her heart. She’s still in the operating room, and we don’t know if she’s out of danger yet. So, don’t wait for tonight, get so rest early.”
What a joke.
How could she possibly sleep?
The man she loved was watching over another woman’s bedside, there was no way she could sleep.
But what could she do in a situation like this? Barge in and fight for her man with an injured person?
Noticing Victoria’s silence, Arnold knew that her mind must be filled with doubts at this mont.
“She collapsed in front of . It was an accident, and I’m partly responsible for it. I hope you can understand,” Arnold spoke his true thoughts, not wanting to hide anything from Victoria or make her more suspicious.
Obviously, no matter what, Victoria’s position in his heart was irreplaceable.
His willingness to explain this made Victoria feel much better in her heart.
