Chapter 449: Those Won 4 Chapter 449: Those Won 4 Grand Lady Johnson was determined to lay all cards on the table today. She wanted to make her stubborn son Arnold Johnson understand her stance, “I just made it very clear to Miss Garcia. If you have no idea, let repeat it again.”
Before Grand Lady Johnson could repeat herself, Arnold interrupted, “Mother, I don’t disagree with you on your view of Victoria. But I wish for you and all of you to understand my stance.”
At this point, Arnold glanced over Chloe Johnson and the others.
“On the 9th of next month, I decided to be engaged to Victoria.”
When the word ‘engagent’ was spoken, a sense of tension filled the entire room, suggesting fireworks were about to begin.
“I do not approve.” Grand Lady Johnson opposed vehently as she stood up abruptly.
Arnold explained, “Mother, it is I who will spend a lifeti with her, not you, so I hope you will consider my feelings.”
“Your feelings? You just want to drop dead from anger! Aren’t you just trying to anger with this engagent to this Garcia woman? Over the years, you have done everything that I objected to. If I didn’t object to Miss Garcia becoming your second wife, would you still engage her?”
At this mont, Grand Lady Johnson was so angry she was nearly incoherent.
“Mother, I have said this very clearly before, I don’t have any wives. You should have faced this reality many years ago.”
“I don’t care. The fact is, you two were married, and vowed in front of witnesses. That is a valid engagent!” Grand Lady Johnson shouted angrily, “Over the years, you should know how Chloe’s been treating you. She didn’t complain about anything. You brought won here, and she accepted all of them. She has been accompanying , an old woman, for years, doing filial duties for you in my presence. What else are you dissatisfied with?”
What Grand Lady Johnson said was indeed true, but Arnold never asked Chloe to do so. And over ti, he told Chloe ti and ti again; she was just too stubborn to listen. So what could he do?
In order to let Chloe go, he even brought two other won ho. But instead of getting angry, she warmly welcod them, referring to them as sisters.
While they might think their actions admirably selfless, Arnold found it nothing but emotional blackmail. The saddest part was, he had never been in love with her.
“Mom, I accepted all of this willingly. It has nothing to do with anyone else.” Chloe comforted Grand Lady Johnson gently and soothingly.
The more Chloe behaved this way, the more Grand Lady Johnson cherished her.
“Now tell , have you considered what will happen to the reputation of our Johnson Family, to Chloe’s reputation if you engage this Garcia woman? Rember, everyone was aware that you were married, and Chloe is the legitimate Second Madam of our Johnson Family. Do you wish to make a public spectacle with another engagent ceremony?”
“Mother, we all know what happened at the wedding years ago. I don’t want to bring it up again. The reason why I want to engage Victoria is to tell everyone that I am qualified to do so.” Arnold argued.
Enraged beyond words, Grand Lady Johnson exclaid, “You… You really have the audacity now. You are telling that no matter what I say, you are determined to get your own way, right!”
“Mother, please calm down. We’re all a bit tired today. Let’s take a break and discuss this matter later when we’re in a calr state of mind, shall we?” Chloe stepped in to diate.
