Chapter 3: Why should I help you 3 Chapter 3: Why should I help you 3 Alexander Mitchell lowered his head, his eyes filled with indulgent smiles.

Leah responded to him, gently lifting her head and gazing at Alexander Mitchell with her tender eyes.

These intimate scenes scorched her heart.

He hugged Leah around her waist and turned away, not even glancing at Victoria Garcia.

Only after Alexander Mitchell left did Victoria realize that this was not the ti for emotions, as the pressing matter at hand concerned her mother’s case.

Without hesitation, she went after him and instinctively grabbed Alexander Mitchell’s sleeve. Before she could speak, he said contemptuously, “Victoria, if you think that I once loved you and use it as a bargaining chip, it would turn our remaining good mories into rubbish.”

Nothing stung more than those words.

Victoria wanted to ask why. Were all the promises made back then just lies?

But she swallowed her words, unable to ask because of her pride.

Victoria let go of his sleeve, took a couple of steps forward, and faced him with her usual cool deanor. She swallowed her request and instead asked, “Do you know why I’ve never accepted you all these years?”

Alexander Mitchell was surprised by her sudden question, revealing a puzzled expression.

However, before he could respond, Victoria stared into his eyes and said, “Because I’ve been waiting for the face you’re wearing now.”

Having said that, Victoria walked past the couple with a mix of emotions, quickly disappearing from their sight.

Elsewhere, Victoria watched the Black Carved Gate slowly close. She approached it once more and stared intently at the villa within. Through the dimly lit room, she saw two figures intertwined in the light.

She stood there, blocking out the sounds of the outside world. Not a single movent, snowflakes fell on her neck, lting into water, slowly trickling down her skin. Yet she didn’t feel cold.

Not far from Victoria, a black car slowly approached and stopped in front of her.

The car door opened, and a man in a black suit erged, holding a black umbrella as he walked towards Victoria.

Under the dim streetlight, Victoria’s small face looked even smaller and more delicate, her complexion pale, void of any color.

The black umbrella blocked Victoria’s view until she slowly turned around and looked up at the approaching man.

Her lips moved, and with great effort, she asked, “Who are you?”

“Miss Garcia, we have been ordered to take you to see soone.”

The snow grew heavier, the snowflakes on Victoria’s body multiplying.

In the minus 5-degree weather, her legs had grown numb from standing still for so long.

“Whose order? Who am I to et?”

“Soone who can save your mother’s life.”
