Chapter 221: Being too clever can backfire 5 Chapter 221: Being too clever can backfire 5 As Clara Brown saw an incoming call from Terry Garcia, her heart pounded vehently. That pounding wasn’t a beat of love, but panic.

She didn’t find the video in his office at all. Has he received it? Has he seen it?

“Honey, what is it?” She strived to maintain a calm voice.

Terry Garcia growled at her in a accusing tone, “What’s going on with Victoria? You said you were confident she would willingly step down from the Deputy CEO position. Why did she brazenly vie for the Deputy CEO position today?”

Hearing him ask about this, Clara’s panic sowhat subsided.

She tried hard to think of how to explain it to him.

“Honey, I don’t know. I thought I could find that video, but when Victoria asked to see it, I found the videos were gone. I’ve looked everywhere, but I couldn’t find them.”

“How could the videos suddenly disappear?” Terry Garcia roared with anger.

Clara Brown replied in a pitiful tone, “I don’t know what’s happened either, but I suspect that it must have been Victoria who had tampered with it. She had soone steal the videos.”

In fact, that was exactly what had happened, only it was Clara Brown herself who had led Victoria to arrange for the remaining backup videos and photos to be stolen.

So that Terry Garcia would believe her, she continued to berate Victoria. “I didn’t expect that giving her a week to ponder would result in her using that week to steal those videos. If I had known this would happen, I wouldn’t have given her a single minute.”

“You…” Terry Garcia cursed in his heart, “what a useless waste.”

“Honey, I’m sorry, it was my fault for not safeguarding those videos properly. But don’t you think sothing’s off about Victoria?”

“Off? What do you an?” Terry Garcia snapped back.

Given his current anger, Clara didn’t quarrel with him. If it were her, she’d be even more furious about this outco.

“Victoria has beco strangely significant all of a sudden, and incredibly competent as well. I’m sure soone is helping her behind the scenes,” Clara concluded as she thought about it.

“Then who do you think it is?”

Clara was frustrated. If she knew, would she need to be discussing this with him?

“I just don’t know, that’s why I’m telling you. We should spend so effort, or hire a private detective to find out more about Victoria’s background, who she has been associating with all these years.”

Clara’s words served as a wake-up call for Terry Garcia.

Terry Garcia knew little about his daughter. How had she lived all these years since he abandoned them? Who did she associate with?

He had to find out everything to know the full extent of Victoria’s story. Otherwise, he wouldn’t know who his real opponent was.

How could he win if he didn’t know who his opponent was?

“You’re right. I’ll hire soone to look into it, and you should also put so effort into learning about what Victoria’s sisters have been up to,”

After finishing, Terry hung up the phone without even saying goodbye. It was clear he still had complaints against Clara.

Speaking of private detectives, Clara suddenly beca interested in hiring one, not to investigate Victoria but to investigate Terry.

Before Clara could put her phone aside, Terry called again.

This ti, Clara was genuinely terrified.

That was quick. Had the matter been exposed? Had he discovered the video she had?

Save for this matter, Clara couldn’t think of anything else that would cause Terry to call again so soon.
