Chapter 1265: Her final decision 2 Chapter 1265: Her final decision 2 Hearing Alia’s seemingly consenting words, Jolson’s heart blossod with joy.
“Alia, really?” Jolson excitedly grasped her hand and said with concern, “Brother promises not to bother you, to just quietly watch over you. If possible, I’d like to cultivate with you until you co ho with .”
Alia replied, “This place is for female cultivators; after the evening sutras, you can’t stay here any longer.”
“Ok, then I’ll co back tomorrow morning when you all start to cultivate again,” Jolson imdiately responded.
In the ti that followed, Jolson did as he had said, silently observing Alia’s daily life.
In the morning, they labored, then returned to recite the midday sutras, followed by lunch, then so free ti before everyone retreated to their rooms for a nap.
After waking from the nap, they continued reciting sutras for a while, then resud their labor, so going up the mountain to gather firewood, others continuing to toil in the fields.
Such routine lasted until dark, after dinner ca more reciting of sutras, then sleep.
Sun rises and work, sun sets and rest.
Week in, week out, Alia and her fellow cultivators lived this life without complaint or dissatisfaction, possessing only tranquil hearts.
Even with such labor, Alia’s skin remained fair, with just a few more freckles on her cheeks, but it did not detract from her beauty.
As night fell, Jolson bid Alia farewell.
“I’ll co see you again tomorrow morning, call if anything cos up!” Jolson said, pulling on her hand.
Alia had not used any electronic devices for six years; once evening ca, even the electric lights were rarely on, and nobody here had mobile phones or computers.
“Mm, goodbye!” Alia smiled faintly.
This was the only ti she had smiled since seeing Jolson, calm throughout.
Seeing her smile, Jolson’s heart brightened. “You still look so beautiful and charming when you smile.”
As he spoke, Jolson instinctively wanted to stroke her once beautiful, seaweed-like hair, but now her head was bare of it.
Feeling the loss, he withdrew his hand, telling himself that hair would grow back, and even if she didn’t wish to keep it long, he wouldn’t insist; having her by his side was all that mattered.
Jolson had a million reluctances, but Alia waved goodbye to him, for she had to recite sutras and then sleep, as was her routine.
Alia knew very well that even if Jolson left, he would certainly have his n watch over her to prevent her from running away and disappearing from his sight again.
She had tried to escape six years ago but always ended up being caught by her brother. After nurous escape attempts, Alia had chosen to blow herself up to permanently free herself from her brother’s entanglent.
Yet, to her disbelief, he still appeared before her, no matter where in the world she was.
This must be karma!
Now that she had created it, redeed it, and understood it, there was nothing left that she couldn’t let go of.
Before going to bed, Alia talked with the elder nun in the Temple.
“Paisley, have you co to terms with it?” the nun asked softly and calmly as Alia appeared before her.
Alia nodded and replied, “Yes, my heart has been at peace for these six years.”
“If your heart has already settled, then why bother?” the nun asked.
Over these six years, the nun had watched Alia step by step, from her initial discomfort to her present tranquility.
