Yesterday he heard about Scarlett Shaw’s request and thought she approached Roman Lawson for work, so he directly ntioned it to Julian Ford. Surprisingly, the boss was quite understanding and gave him two invitations without needing nas.

After ending the call with Aaron Carson, Scarlett Shaw stepped into the banquet hall of the manor.

After the ceremony, the guests were dining in this area.

She scanned the surroundings, hoping to catch sight of that woman again, but instead saw Jasper Spencer appear out of nowhere.

Jasper Spencer was dressed in a high-end suit today, with his buttons undone and his shirt loose and casual. He tilted his head back and drank a glass of juice, his brown eyes revealing a subtle hint of desolation.

When Jasper Spencer put down the glass, he noticed Scarlett and directly strode over to her, handing her a glass and saying:

"How did you just pop up here?"

Scarlett had no choice but to take the glass and replied perfunctorily, "It’s none of your business."

Jasper didn’t mind her attitude and looked at her, "Are you here alone?"

This question reminded Scarlett of Skyler Miller. She intended to look for Skyler but was grabbed by Jasper, who started leading her to a less crowded area, saying, "Since you’re free, have a few drinks with ."

Seeing his forlorn expression, Scarlett said, "You’re really hopeless, getting all gloomy over a juice at Zoe Sutton’s wedding."

"Because I feel like it."

Jasper clinked his glass against Scarlett’s and finished his drink in one go.

Scarlett took a small sip. She had a poor impression of Jasper from their last encounter on the ski slopes and spoke rather bluntly now:

"Aren’t you still Yana’s blind date? How can you get so down at the wedding of a woman you never even dated?"

These words hit a sore spot.

Jasper was almost at his breaking point, "If it were you, watching the person you truly like marry soone else, wouldn’t you feel upset?"

With these words, Scarlett imdiately thought of Julian’s indifferent and aloof deanor.

He, too, was about to get married.

She touched her nose and said, "I wouldn’t be. The next one will be better."

Jasper glanced at her, "Does your boyfriend know you’re so callous?"

Scarlett paused slightly as her hand hovered near her nose before she slowly lowered it, only then rembering the lie she had told Jasper about having a boyfriend before.

Thinking that she and Jasper would probably never cross paths again, there was no point in explaining the fictitious boyfriend.

So Scarlett simply said, "He knows, but he’s still crazy about ."

Jasper poured himself another glass of wine, his gaze casually drifting elsewhere, "And you, do you love him back?"

Scarlett: "Of course I do, why wouldn’t I?"

Jasper curled his lips, "You love him, yet you kissed Julian Ford."

Scarlett: "..."

Jasper’s eyes, which had been filled with despondency monts ago, now held a playful gleam, but this smile wasn’t directed at Scarlett; it was for Julian standing behind her.

Standing beside Julian was Josiah Sutton, there to witness his sister’s wedding.

Julian maintained a calm and indifferent deanor, while Josiah’s eyes sparkled behind his glasses, holding a deep smile.

Seeing these two, Scarlett realized she had fallen for Jasper’s trick.

She t Julian’s gaze. As their eyes crossed, Julian looked at Jasper and said, "You’re as presumptuous as ever."

Jasper’s expression showed slight displeasure, "Keep pretending, Julian Ford."

"Pretending about what?"

Julian glanced at Scarlett and said nonchalantly:

"You just think there was sothing between and her, and indeed there was. But so what? It was just those trivial things between a man and a woman. Do you think saying all this to her will provoke ? I’m telling you right now, stop doing such futile and stupid things."

Jasper’s face looked as unpleasant as it was shocked.

What he didn’t expect was Julian’s straightforward admission to having had sothing with Scarlett, and he said it so nonchalantly.

Jasper couldn’t resist looking at Scarlett’s expression.

Scarlett’s deanor didn’t change much, remaining even calr than Julian’s. However, those bright and mischievous almond eyes now had a layer of icy frost over them.

She neither looked at Julian again nor did she give Jasper a second glance. She turned away and left, exuding a cold atmosphere as if she regarded them as strangers.

Watching Scarlett’s retreating figure, Josiah was the first to speak:

"You two, using Scarlett as a tool to hurt each other, isn’t that a bit too inhumane?"

Jasper took a look at Julian, stubbornly pulling at his lips and said, "Didn’t hurt him though, did it?"

Josiah was frustrated with this blockhead, "With your mindset, you’ll never catch up to Zoe, even in a million years."

Jasper frowned, dissatisfied, "What do you an?"

Josiah really wanted to roll his eyes, "What do I an, I an you should quickly go apologize to Scarlett. Why drag a young woman into these silly, childish acts of revenge?"

Jasper sucked in a breath, showing a bit of struggle, and after a mont, he indeed started to follow in the direction Scarlett had left.

Seeing Jasper walk away, Josiah turned to Julian, "And you, you just drop harsh words and walk away?"

With one hand in his suit pocket, Julian replied nonchalantly, "Walk away from what?"

Josiah wanted to retract the eye-roll he gave Jasper and give it right here in front of Julian.

"That young girl is usually all smiles, didn’t you see her expression just now? She’s obviously upset."

Julian’s brows moved slightly, but his words remained irritating, "What does she have to be upset about? She moved on seamlessly, her boyfriend loves her deeply. If she needs consolation, it’s her boyfriend’s job to do that."

Josiah paused.

This line of reasoning seed quite sound.

These two, one engaged and the other with a boyfriend, shouldn’t be involved anymore.

Josiah always felt there was sothing indescribable swirling between Scarlett and Julian, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.

As he pondered, Julian had already begun walking toward the manor’s exit.

Josiah caught up, "You’re leaving just like that? My sister wanted to invite you to stay over tonight, she wants to chat with you more."

"No need."

Julian said with little warmth.

Josiah didn’t mind whether he stayed or not, just sighed, "You’re too cold-hearted. Even if you never liked my sister, she did help you gather quite a few resources over here for her wedding. This is the only small wish she has, yet you won’t even agree to it."

"If these resources can bring benefits, I will naturally compensate her."

Julian didn’t stop, casually glancing at Josiah.

"If I stayed, it would only give her false hope. Do you think that would be a good thing?"

Josiah fell silent.

He naturally didn’t want his sister to be hurt.

But—

When Julian reached the manor’s gate, Josiah arranged a car for him. As Julian got into the car, Josiah suddenly blurted out:

"Then why did you give Scarlett hope?"

Even though Scarlett didn’t appreciate that hope.

Julian turned to look at him, his expression icy.

Josiah: "Julian, you can fool others, but not . Scarlett is special to you, isn’t she?"
