The sand on the beach was soft, but indeed filthy.
Julian Ford loved cleanliness, so naturally, he wouldn’t sit casually like Scarlett Shaw.
He stopped in front of her, looking down at her from above.
Scarlett’s eyes were red at the corners, looking quite aggrieved, but the tears never fell.
It wasn’t the first ti Julian witnessed her like this.
However, thinking about it carefully, the last ti she actually cried was the night they first had relations; she cried her heart out for Ryan Ford.
Scarlett originally had no intention of paying attention to Julian.
But after so ti, the gaze fixed on her didn’t shift away, instead, it grew even more peculiar.
Julian suddenly crouched down, eting her eye level.
Scarlett furrowed her brows and shrank back.
Julian’s hand caressed her face, rubbing gently, speaking in a bland tone, "I want to make you cry."
"..."
Scarlett was both scared and angry.
But she didn’t dare confront Julian head-on.
Going against this man headstrong would definitely not end well.
"Julian Ford, can you let go? I really can’t play this ga," Scarlett pleaded.
"Didn’t you say being by my side felt like a cage?" Julian looked at her calmly, "Words once said require evidence. I’m giving you the chance to verify them personally now, aren’t you satisfied?"
He was so grudgingly resentful.
It was just a casual remark she made ages ago, and Julian rembered it crystal clear.
"Oh, and didn’t you use your relationship with as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Ryan Ford too?"
Julian approached her, smiling.
"Now that the chip has increased in weight, you should be happy."
As he spoke, he wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her up to stand straight, holding her tightly, and lowered his head to kiss her pale lips.
Scarlett wanted to dodge, but her lower back was securely held by him.
He playfully bit her lightly, although much gentler than when she bit him yesterday.
More like flirting.
The night sea was calm and tranquil, with stars gleaming brightly across the sky.
Scarlett was tightly held by Julian, their overlapping shadows resembling a pair of affectionate lovers.
As Julian’s lips brushed against Scarlett’s delicate neck, she trembled slightly, clasping his shoulder tightly, "Can you ensure my grandmother will safely undergo her treatnt?"
Julian paused briefly, then smirked, "Smart, you know how to negotiate terms."
Scarlett rely affird with him, "Can you?"
Julian: "Depends on how you behave."
She knew full well that in this relationship, she held no bargaining chip.
Everything gained or lost was entirely subject to Julian’s mood.
However, Julian seed to be in quite a good mood at the mont. When Scarlett voluntarily hugged him, he made a phone call, ending with a few succinct words, then said to her:
"I’ve arranged the best hospital and a premium ward for your grandmother, and an expert will see to her."
Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief, about to speak when sothing occurred to her.
Julian said, "Ryan will find no opportunity to cause trouble either."
That was indeed what she worried about most.
Though Julian wasn’t one to care much about people, his credibility, for now, was still reasonably high to Scarlett.
She felt her heart lighten sowhat.
Hesitating, she still managed to say to Julian, "Thank you for the trouble."
Julian slightly raised his eyebrows.
He then drove Scarlett back to the Cloud Mansion.
On the way back, passing by an adult store, he stopped and asked Scarlett to co in with him.
Scarlett had never been in such a store and felt her face heat up, "President Ford, you can buy your own size, I won’t accompany you."
Julian glanced at her, "Who said it was for ?"
Scarlett was taken aback.
Julian directly led her out of the car.
The inside of the shop was much larger than what the small signage outside suggested; there were even three floors, packed with a myriad of dazzling items.
Scarlett gained quite a bit of knowledge.
And, indeed, quite a few positions.
The last ti things happened with Julian was the day he had just recovered from an illness. In the middle of it, a call from Zoe Sutton ca, and the matter was rushed, hardly enjoyable.
Tonight, Julian was clearly in high spirits, demonstrating quite a few techniques.
As physiological tears overflowed from Scarlett’s eyes, Julian reached out his thumb to wipe them away.
"Such a good girl."
He smiled calmly:
"Say you cry, and you cry."
"..."
Scarlett, feeling indignant, lowered her head, and in a retaliatory mood, bit into the palm of his hand with force.
Julian seed oblivious to any pain, his expression unchanged.
As Scarlett’s teeth loosened, her gaze inadvertently noticed a very faint, shallow scar on the inside of his forearm that would have gone unnoticed had she not looked closely.
Driven by a strange impulse, Scarlett reached out, gently touching it.
She closed her eyes, feeling the raised texture of the scar more distinctly.
Julian brushed her hand away.
Scarlett opened her eyes to face his clear and cold gaze.
"That scar of yours," Scarlett hesitated before asking, "how did you get it?"
Julian clasped her chin with the base of his thumb, "Be serious. In our relationship, there’s no permission to share childhood stories."
"..."
Out of concern, she had rely asked.
Only to be rebuffed like this.
What was cooperative interest turned into slight dissatisfaction, like the claws of a rebellious little cat, lightly scratching at one’s heart.
However, Julian seed remarkably good-natured tonight.
And unusually patient.
Not only did he not get angry, but he also devoted more attention to her, and afterward, considerately bathed her before carrying her back to the bedroom.
Scarlett buried her face in the pillow, not wanting to see anyone.
Scenes from their ti together flashed through her mind, making her feel utterly depraved.
It was peculiar how Julian could so easily bewitch; he was skilled in many ways, always leaving her hanging, begging repeatedly for rcy.
When she felt the bed dip beside her, Scarlett realized sothing and abruptly lifted her head.
Julian had just lifted the blankets, lying down beside her.
Scarlett was montarily stunned, "Why are you on the bed?"
Julian glancing at her plainly remarked, "This is my room."
As he finished speaking, he reached to pull her by the waist, drawing her into his embrace.
"Be good, sleep."
The light went out, leaving Scarlett embraced by Julian. The man’s scent was cold and familiar; though her body was exhausted, sleep wouldn’t co.
A woman’s intuition is often more sensitive and ticulous than a man’s. Scarlett didn’t forget that this was the first ti she and Julian lay in the sa bed, embracing each other after everything was done.
And it was in Julian’s bed.
Scarlett’s mind was in turmoil.
Julian was a cold-hearted man.
No matter how pleasurable or intimate the interaction was, no matter how tender the touches, it was rely a fleeting whim.
He was forever capable of detaching himself in a heartbeat, leaving in cold indifference.
Yet, imperceptibly, sothing uncontrollable seed to be dangerously expanding and growing.
