Julian Ford raised his eyes and t hers, his charming lips moved slightly, "If you’re still fretting, just let it go for now. So things, if left to unfold naturally, might bring unexpected surprises."
Scarlett Shaw: "I suddenly realized sothing more important."
Julian Ford: "?"
Scarlett Shaw fixed her gaze on him, "I think I’ve really found a treasure of a boyfriend."
As her words fell, she lowered her head and kissed him earnestly.
The initiative shifted as the kiss deepened.
Back at Cloud Mansion, Scarlett Shaw held Julian Ford’s hand, feeling deeply moved, "I suddenly kind of understand why during our last argunt, you said that everyone is an independent individual, and no relationship should beco a shackle."
Julian Ford squeezed her palm lightly, speaking in a calm voice, "I see, but I kind of regret saying that."
Scarlett Shaw didn’t believe him, "You actually have monts of regret?"
Julian Ford pulled her closer into his embrace, his lips slightly curved into a quiet yet dangerous smile, "Now that you understand this, would there be a day when you use the sa excuse to leave ?"
Scarlett Shaw was taken aback, "That’s completely unfounded; you’re just talking nonsense."
Besides, it wasn’t like him to say such things.
"Not necessarily."
Julian Ford’s gaze swept over her, as if examining sothing, remarked in an indifferent voice, "I’ve never seen you dressed like this before, looking as low-profile as a thief."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
So, he was waiting for her here.
Though Julian Ford asked lightly, Scarlett Shaw couldn’t remain calm inside.
It felt like violent waves were about to capsizing her little boat.
She wasn’t acting like a thief, more like a stalker.
And the one she’s stalking is this smart boyfriend of hers standing in front of her.
Scarlett Shaw parted her lips, intending to use a recheck as an excuse— a plan interrupted and forgotten due to Anna Ford—when she suddenly rembered she had sworn a vow just ten minutes ago:
No matter the circumstances, she would never lie to him.
...
She felt like crying but had no tears.
Vows, it seed, were indeed unreliable.
If she had known, she wouldn’t have made such a vow.
Scarlett Shaw tried to use silence to muddle through, but Julian Ford seed particularly patient, his dark eyes fixed steadily on her, their breaths mingling, the air turning thin.
"Before, I’ve never seen you driving this car either."
She suddenly had a spark of inspiration and threw the sa words back at him.
Julian Ford lowered his eyes, lips curling faintly, "Alright, you’ve learned to change the subject with tit-for-tat."
The man’s face was stern and perfect, carrying an oppressive calm.
Scarlett Shaw once again threw her arms around him, resting her chin on his shoulder, speaking in a sowhat pitiful and aggrieved tone:
"I was just thinking, what would my mom feel when her daughter said to her, why wasn’t it you who died."
Even recalling it herself felt excessive.
A hint of depth passed through Julian Ford’s eyes, although he knew she was deliberately avoiding the earlier topic, he still caught onto her words, saying, "I’ve also been wondering what state of mind you were in when you said those words."
Scarlett Shaw was slightly stunned.
She backed away from Julian Ford’s embrace, looking at him with so confusion.
They locked eyes.
Julian Ford’s face was indifferent and calm with no discernible emotion, leaving her unable to guess why he would suddenly ask such a thing. Yet, she had a feeling he genuinely wanted to know the answer.
So she thought for a mont and spoke the truth, "Driven by anger, speaking recklessly, only wanting to vent my emotions, assuming that hurting her would bring happiness. But in that instant, the thought was real, though the regret afterward was also real."
In this journey called life, compared to natural disasters and misfortunes, illnesses, and hardships, most fractures in relationships co more from harsh words said in anger.
The closer the relationship, the more profound the hurt.
"So, you really did think that."
Julian Ford’s voice was light and sowhat distracted.
Scarlett Shaw instinctively tightened her grip on his hand.
Julian Ford lowered his eyes, glanced at her, calmly said, "Regretting now serves no purpose, words once spoken are like water spilled, irretrievable."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
Does he have to be so piercing!
A typical Julian Ford response never disappoints; Scarlett Shaw was both annoyed and amused.
Seeing the slight anger in her almond-shaped eyes, Julian Ford asked, "Afraid I’ll get a bad impression of you?"
Scarlett Shaw: "A little bit."
In truth, she was very afraid.
After all, she had never shown this side to him before; what if one day they argued, and she spoke recklessly then too...
Seemingly discerning her thoughts, Julian Ford pinched the back of her neck, "Let it go, that ti in the villa bathroom, we’ve done even more private things, it’s nothing major now for to hear you curse a bit."
Scarlett Shaw: "..."
She only hated herself for not sealing his mouth with tape a second earlier!
"You dare bring that up, you’re not allowed to be so reckless again in the future!"
Julian Ford ignored her, holding her against him for a while, seeing her struggling like a little cat, uncooperative, he knew she was still dissatisfied with his answer.
The man raised his brows lightly, and after pinning down the ’cat’s paws’ and kissing them enough, he finally spoke with satisfaction:
"After being with you for this long, don’t I know you well enough? What are you worried about."
Hearing this, Scarlett Shaw grew spirited, "Then tell , what am I like."
Had it been a normal couple, the guy couldn’t have responded fast enough, knowing this was a trick question.
Whether Julian Ford realized it or not is unknown, but this man is definitely the type who’d die for continuing even after recognizing the peril.
"Prone to acting impulsively, regretful after the fact, and liking to secretly ponder those pointless little calculations."
"..."
Scarlett Shaw was furious.
A woman can be killed, not humiliated.
Just as she was about to rise in rebellion, Julian Ford pinned her down, "And, asking such a question is aningless, are you doubting your boyfriend’s judgnt, or are you saying your taste is bad for choosing an unprogressive boyfriend?"
Scarlett Shaw focused on the latter half, startled and then both proud and curious, said:
"Actually, we’ve only argued that one ti, but it sounds like you’ve reflected on yourself for a long ti."
"Speaking of which, since then, you really haven’t been out on any family-arranged blind dates, are you bearing trendous family pressure so I won’t worry?"
"Co to think of it, that night at the villa, those things you said to , did you secretly rehearse them hundreds of tis, nervously sweating bullets?"
"..."
Considering soone’s antics of wagging their cat tail and stepped on his nose, the ever-undeterred Julian Ford gently smiled:
"From an economic perspective, arguing with you once is enough; too many tis is a waste of ti and energy. But since you can daydream so much, I could sign you up for a screenwriting class for further training."
"Got it."
Scarlett Shaw nodded with a sudden realization.
Her almond eyes sparkled with a triumphant glint, slyly saying, "So you just can’t bear to make sad again."
Julian Ford: "..."
