"What's the matter, Rid? Don't tell you're already carsick?"
I twisted my head, and my father looked at with concern.
"Oh, no problem. I just had a feeling that the Ronamis house looked familiar.
"Hmmm. The appearance of the Ronamis mansion is similar to that of the forr mansion. I heard that the exterior of the Ronamis mansion is symtrical, which was popular in the capital at the ti of its construction."
"Oh, I have heard that too. That's why most of the buildings in the aristocratic quarters in the imperial capital are symtrical.'
The buildings in the surrounding area were indeed all similar in appearance.
I hadn't looked too closely at the buildings in the aristocratic district, so I guess that gave a sense of déjà vu.
'...... I guess so. Perhaps I was mistaken.”
I nodded, but sothing was still bugging .
Maybe I should ask mory to check it out later.
As I was thinking that, Keir cut in, “Even so, ......."
"It's wonderful to see it all set up like this, but personally, I'd like to see a scene with all sorts of buildings."
'Then I think you'll enjoy that at Bardia."
"What do you an by that?"
I briefly explained to Kiel, who tilted his head, about the architectural situation in Bardia.
With the recent developnt, the old buildings in Bardia are being renewed and many new buildings are being built.
In particular, the tourist inns, shopping and dining areas have been designed by a number of up-and-coming architects, and as a result, they are a pleasure to see.
So of them were too eccentric, though.
"I'm very much looking forward to seeing them. However, it must have cost a lot of money to build and remodel so many new buildings."
I think sothing glowed in the depths of Kiel's eyes.
A normal child might just say, “I'm looking forward to it,” but the fact that he is concerned about the cost is more like a mber of the royal family, or a governnt official.
"It's not so much a matter of “ Yutaka,” but rather a little “trick. I'll explain it to you when we get back to the territory. It's good, isn't it, Father?"
“Yes. It would be better for Kiel, who is a mber of the royal family, to have a look at it in the future."
“”For , a mber of the royal family? I am very much looking forward to that."
When he nodded, the father suddenly took out his pocket watch.
"We should get going, you two. It's getting late and there are a lot of people here."
“ Ah, good, father,”
I nodded and looked at Kiel.
"You've never traveled a long distance before, have you?"
"Yes, that's right. Even if I did, I would only go to the outskirts of the capital."
"That's right. I'm sure you'll be ready for it."
I smiled at him with narrowed eyes.
"What do you an by ready?"
"The obvious thing,”. For motion sickness."
We thus departed from the capital in a charcoal car driven by my father.
On the way to Bardia, Kiel was delighted by the scenery he could see from the window of the coal car.
His appearance was not that of an adult as usual, but that of a person of his age.
But he had absolutely no connection to getting intoxicated, and I, as usual, was left alone to enjoy my ti of despair.
For so reason, I felt lonelier than usual and was about to cry a little.
◇ ◇.
Several days after leaving the imperial capital.
Father's coal wagon entered Bardia's territory.
"Once again, a charcoal truck is a revolutionary type of vehicle. I didn't think it would be possible to reach Bardia so quickly and comfortably."
"Still, it's a safe ride.”
Kiel made an exclamation of admiration as he looked out the window at the scenery streaming by, and I answered on his behalf.
"We could always switch drivers if we were in a hurry,” I replied on his behalf. That way, we can get back and forth more quickly. In fact, at the ti of the narrow fortress battle, my father ca back imdiately from the imperial capital."
"That's great. In my position, I may be able to help you sooner or later."
'But it was the wise decision of your parents, His Majesty, to make so comfortable here. The second order of knights in the service of the House of Bardia."
When I said this, Kiel turned to with a curious look on his face.
"I wonder, may I ask you for more details?'
"Oh, yes. Of course."
I began to talk about my first visit to the capital.
In addition to eting Kiel and the others, their Majesties recognized the value of the charcoal trucks and the various products and goods from Bardia, which led to the Second Order's order for road maintenance in Bardia and the capital.
Since the improvent of traffic conditions by using charcoal trucks was an innovative proposal that had never been made before, it is possible that it would have been rejected by soone who was more conservative or who strongly desired to maintain the status quo.
Above all, it was not an easy task to entrust the maintenance of the road connecting the capital and Bardia to a knightly order whose mbers were almost all children of the tribe of beastn.
The Bardia family's sales ability is one thing, but it's the flexible thinking of Their Majesties.
In fact, it is said that when the first “train” station in my mory from my previous life was built, so landowners turned it down because they did not understand the value of the station.
It is said that it beca common knowledge after the station was built and the trains were in operation that the surrounding area would easily develop and the value of the land would increase if there was a station nearby.
"I see. But even if it is not father or mother, if they could understand all these advantages, I think anyone would permit it."
"No, no, no. Human beings are creatures with feelings, though we can understand them with our minds. I think it was a 'wise decision' that only Their Majesties could have made."
“Hmm. Does Rid an that “human beings are creatures ruled by their emotions”?
I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Not to that extent, but human beings do not always make rational decisions, do they? Pride, envy, anger, grief. People make decisions based on a combination of various emotions. It's not so much about domination, but more about being next to each other.
If the person in charge of the charcoal truck and road maintenance had been a staunch conservative like the Duke of Glades- Rutherville, it is possible that the project would have been rejected even if it had obvious advantages.
Or else, they would have been forced to prioritize the construction of places that were more convenient for them.
"'Hmmm. I wonder if that's the case."
Just as Kiel cowered his shoulders with a snarl, his father's head moved slightly toward him.
'We can see the new mansion now, you two. We're almost there."
"Oh, yes,”
I replied, and Kiel leaned forward.
"It is a magnificent building, indeed. But, if it's a new mansion, that ans I'll be visiting Rid and Farah's love nest, right?"
"Na......⁉”
When I rolled my eyes at Kiel's words with a hint of a smile, my father erupted.
"The main house is currently under repair. Therefore, all the mbers of the Bardia family are spending ti together in the new house. Rest assured.'
"I am relieved to hear that. Then you can rest assured. It would be tactless for to be between Rid and Fara, who is very passionate."
"Oh, yes. As expected of His Highness Kiel, you understand well. '
“ Reiner-dono. I don't need your highness.
"Oh, excuse ."
I wondered how long we had been getting along.
I raised my voice as the sound of laughter echoed through the vehicle.
“Please stop making fun of both of us together."
But the laughter in the car never stopped.
