998: Chapter 991: The Battle That Ended in an Instant 998: Chapter 991: The Battle That Ended in an Instant Magicians without armor appeared exceedingly fragile before Cheng Ziang’s Kedal tal knife; with just a single slash, he easily tore through the bodies of two magicians, and had his blade been longer, this strike could have cleanly bisected both magicians, their grueso state not much better than when Feng acted.
tal armor, and even Kefla fiber and ceramic armor, stood no chance against Kedal tal, let alone the seemingly solid bones within the human body.
Cheng Ziang’s slash hardly slowed, slicing through his targets as easily as a knife through butter.
After completing the slash, Cheng Ziang forcefully planted his feet, struggling to stabilize himself, then took advantage of the magicians’ delayed reaction to make another swing of his long blade, instantly piercing the chest of another magician.
It was at this point that the enemies finally snapped to attention, mages raising their hands to start chanting magic, while the gunn also lifted their rifles and took aim at him.
Bang Bang Bang Bang!!!!
Cheng Ziang was naturally not acting alone; as these people prepared to attack, a series of short, rhythmic gunshots ca from the entrance of the tomb.
Luo’er and others, rushing out of the tomb, strived to adjust to the outdoor light while firing targeted shots at the gunn.
In the distance, Hu Daoke’s light machine gun resud its promise, pouring out deadly rapid gunfire, and in an instant, the gunn who had hesitated to seek cover fell like wheat being harvested.
Back at Cheng Ziang’s position, his and Hu Daoke’s attacks had rendered the magicians unable to maintain their barrier.
As the barrier dissolved, Liseya was finally freed, beginning to intensely gather magic power, making her form gradually visible and emitting a ghastly wailing sound.
Angry at seeing her descendants chased around by the magicians, Liseya, once her form had just materialized, imdiately dived down and pounced on a magician.
Liseya gathered magic power so dense it almost seed liquid, striking the magician’s chest with incredible speed.
The collision of magic power and spirit made no sound, but the magician’s body instantly trembled, his mouth agape and eyes bulging as if they might pop out.
The mont Liseya struck through the magician’s chest, his body imdiately convulsed, then he fell to the ground stiffly, holding onto the position he was in.
His death signaled the beginning of the massacre; true to her reputation as a malevolent specter that had been killing for centuries, Liseya didn’t even pause to adjust before she continued her peculiar trajectory of attacks.
In less than three seconds, six magicians died on the spot from her strikes, their eyes wide open as they fell into the snow.
On one side there was Cheng Ziang’s fierce physical assault, and on the other, Liseya’s magical attack.
Faced with such a situation, the magicians were clearly in disarray; so put up physical defense shields against Liseya’s attack, while others erected magic shields against Cheng Ziang’s.
However, this level of defense was aningless before Liseya, the veteran assassin.
She completely disregarded whether the opposition used physical defense shields or magic defense shields, ramming directly into them.
If it was a physical defense shield, it was pointless against her attack; victims were still killed instantly.
And if it was a magic defense shield, it was equally useless; don’t forget how she had attacked Luo’er initially.
Liseya’s magic power-laden strike hit the magic defense shield, its special structure directly dissolving the gathered magic power, yet her spirit body could freely pass through.
So Liseya went through the shield and started to gather magic power directly behind the magician.
It must be said, although these magicians were professionally skilled, their reaction speed was far behind Luo’er’s.
After resisting one of Liseya’s attacks, they completely failed to notice the air rapidly converging behind them.
It took Liseya a full two seconds to amass magic power, an amount deadly enough.
When she had initially injured Luo’er, it had taken her only a fraction of a second.
After fully gathering the magic power, Liseya hesitated no further and slamd into the magician’s back, then erged from his chest.
The magician’s entire body shuddered, his eyes bulged, and he began coughing up blood incessantly before falling face-up to the ground, perfectly still.
Luo’er’s judgnt was correct: once Liseya was set free, she alone was more than capable of slaughtering every person present.
Cheng Ziang, having just killed three magicians, failed to achieve more in the ensuing monts because Liseya’s attack speed was simply too fast, akin to cutting through vegetables.
In less than ten seconds, she had slain all the magicians and then began pouncing towards the gunn.
The gunn, under assault from both front and rear, continued to exchange fire with the Advance Team.
Luo’er and the others had no choice but to seek nearby cover, struggling for breath under the relentless pressure.
However, Liseya’s entry turned the tide completely; again, it was because she killed at such an incredible speed and with such high efficiency that there were almost no wounded—all her targets were instantly killed.
Gliding rapidly through the ranks of gunn, Liseya’s movents in flight were bizarre, defying all laws of physics.
She moved like a silvery-white thread stringing the gunn together in one line, leaving a long trail behind her.
Thirty seconds into the battle, it was essentially over, as Liseya had killed nearly every enemy present.
What surprised Cheng Ziang was, despite Liseya’s swift offensive, she could accurately distinguish friend from foe, not harming any of her allies and targeting only the enemy forces.
Such formidable combat power made Cheng Ziang contemplate its potential as a weapon of war—would that not render one invincible?
“Wait, wait a minute, have rcy!” As the sound of gunfire from the gunn faded and screams echoed incessantly, Luo’er seed to have realized sothing and stood up from behind cover, shouting to stop her.
His attempts to stop her were obviously in vain, as Liseya completely ignored his calls and swiftly cut down the last few gunn.
After ensuring there were no living enemies left, her rapid trajectory finally ca to a halt, and she slowly flew towards Cheng Ziang.
“Sigh, never mind…” Luo’er withdrew his hand and shook his head in resignation.
He had intended to capture a prisoner to interrogate them about their identity and origins, but Liseya’s attacks were just too swift, giving him no chance to intervene.
In fact, upon closer consideration, capturing prisoners was nearly impossible with Liseya in the fight.
Unlike Fulajie’er, Liseya utterly disregarded anyone aside from Cheng Ziang.
Her way of fighting was to annihilate all enemies on the battlefield, with no intent to leave any survivor or to selectively kill.
Less than a minute after Liseya’s release, the battle ended with no suspense left.
The enemies, originally well-prepared and overwhelmingly superior to the Advance Team, proved utterly powerless in the face of Liseya’s asymtrical strikes.
They could have continued to imprison Liseya a second ti, but clearly, the pincer attack from the Advance Team disrupted their formation, preventing them from repeating their prior tactics.
So, in summary, this battle was chiefly due to mistakes made by the enemy.
As powerful as Liseya was, she was not invincible; if the enemies had held their ground and responded properly to the Advance Team’s assaults, the Advance Team really would have had no way to handle them, save for bringing out Feng as their final trump card.
But there’s no cure for regret in this world, and even if there were, Luo’er doubted these people had the reflexes to counter the Advance Team’s maneuvers.
His tactical goal had always been clear: to release Liseya and provide as much opportunity as possible for her output.
Otherwise, the Advance Team’s few rifles would stand no chance against such formidable firepower.
This ti, Luo’er had certainly achieved his goal, although he didn’t seem very happy about it.
With the help of Fulajie’er, Luo’er quickly grasped the enemy’s size and intentions, combined an attack from both Hu Daoke, who had stayed outside, and created conditions for Liseya’s release.
This can be said to be a classic case of a typical dium-scale conflict battle in the Otherworld, although the hardware requirents might be relatively high.
In the Otherworld, one must use Otherworldly weapons; blindly trusting Earth’s weaponry is a sure way to suffer significant losses, a truth Luo’er has realized through years of tough experiences.
