809: Chapter 802: Thrilling Escape 809: Chapter 802: Thrilling Escape After taking down several people, Luo’er imdiately darted into the corner of the wall, dragging Hu Daoke with him.

The opponents, after a brief mont of confusion, soon recovered, and a few gunn imdiately drew their pistols and fired a burst at the two’s position.

Suddenly, the sound of gunfire was intense, with bullets rattling against the nearby walls, creating pockmarks in the clay wall finish and ricocheting off the stone walls with a nerve-wracking whizzing sound.

“Didn’t get hit, did you?” Luo’er, with his hands on his pistol, leaned against the wall and looked back to ask.

“Don’t worry, steady as a rock!” Hu Daoke got up from the ground and then leaned against the wall just like Luo’er.

“Reload, then I’ll cover you.

Take that guy down, and then we retreat!” Luo’er commanded.

“Roger!” Hu Daoke nodded, then took a new pistol magazine from his pocket and reloaded.

“Fula, disturb them!” Luo’er checked his pistol’s remaining bullets and then ordered Fulajie’er.

“Understood!” Fulajie’er replied and then flew towards the opposite side.

When she was less than three ters away from them, she ntally cast a shield spell.

The bullets fired by the opponents were all intercepted by her transparent shield and hovered in mid-air.

As ntioned before, the shield spell can indeed control the level of its firmness.

When the toughness reaches a certain degree, it can capture the bullets fired from the opposite side.

However, that’s just theory.

In practice, very few mages dare to do this.

After all, if the bullets aren’t stopped, one could get hit.

Thus, rather than risk controlling the firmness of the shield spell, it’s safer to just make it completely hard and deflect all incoming bullets.

Since Fulajie’er is a spirit, she doesn’t have to worry about her own safety at all, so she can freely control her magic, and impractical operations like controlling the firmness of a shield spell are naturally no problem for her.

Quite quickly, the gunn on the opposite side noticed sothing was amiss and were astonished to see their bullets floating in mid-air.

In their shock, they all montarily forgot to keep shooting and just stood there, staring at the bizarre scene unfolding before them.

“Now’s the mont, Fula, retreat!” Taking advantage of the temporary lull in gunfire, Luo’er seized the chance.

He shouted and then burst out from cover, firing single-handedly from along the wall toward the opposite side.

Fulajie’er, upon receiving Luo’er’s order, imdiately withdrew her shield spell, and the dense bullets clattered to the ground.

The gunn didn’t have ti to react before Luo’er, who had already fired his bullets, was instantly upon them.

With a Magic Silencer on his pistol, Luo’er’s shots were silent, but the recoil was very real.

And because there was no sound, the gunn on the opposite side didn’t react right away.

It wasn’t until one of their companions was shot through the chest, and the bullets made chirping sounds as they ricocheted off the stones, that they finally ca to their senses.

But by then, their chance to retaliate was lost.

Luo’er maintained intensive shooting, suppressing their firing opportunities, as bullets whizzed past, making them too scared to expose themselves and return fire for the mont.

Luo’er’s pistol held a whopping twenty rounds.

Once he gained the upper hand, the opponents didn’t stand a chance of countering for several seconds.

As Luo’er stepped out to shoot, Hu Daoke also stepped out in sync from his cover, then aid at the man lying on the ground and provided suppressive fire.

Both their pistols were fitted with Magic Silencers.

Although they made no sound, the threat carried by the swoosh of the bullets was real; it was a case of silence being more intimidating than noise.

Under Hu Daoke’s barrage, the man on the ground convulsed continuously, with blood holes bursting open on his body.

Blood began to seep through his clothes, forming a pool of blood on the dirty mud ground.

Hu Daoke had directed all his pistol’s bullets at the man, and in the instant that Luo’er ran out of bullets and turned back, he also didn’t bother to check his empty gun but followed Luo’er back into cover.

“More than a dozen bullets welcod him; if you pulled them all out, you could even make copper ingots,” Hu Daoke said, leaning against the wall and speaking to Luo’er.

“Yeah, retreat!” Luo’er nodded, then replaced his magazine with a new one and gave the order.

In such close-quarter pistol encounters, the hit rate on both sides was usually quite pitiful.

Luo’er had the initiative and managed to hit less than three people.

Just now, when he covered Hu Daoke to shoot, twenty rounds only hit one person, with the rest missing.

Although Luo’er wasn’t sure why the opponents also mostly had pistols, he felt quite lucky.

If they had even a few submachine guns, not to ntion counterattacking, he would have been suppressed to the point of not being able to lift his head.

After dealing with the man following them, the two imdiately left their position and ran towards the comrcial district.

These people obviously wouldn’t dare to make a move in the crowded comrcial district, so they were all equipped with pistols.

Otherwise, given the Booze Ghost Gang’s arsenal, they would have co after the pair with submachine guns already.

The only thing Luo’er regretted now was not bringing a rifle.

If he had, he could have sent the opposition running for their lives, and they wouldn’t have to flee in such a sorry state.

It seed that the pursuers were still the sa group from before, and now they had also made Luo’er a target, not just focusing on Eve and her brother.

As the two were currently in the territory of the Hound Gang, with Feng watching over them, Luo’er was not worried about their safety.

What concerned him now was his own safety and that of Hu Daoke.

What worried Luo’er the most, however, was the exposure of their identities.

Once the CIA found out that Eve had fallen into the hands of the Advance Team, Luo’er feared they would dispense with pretenses and co at them directly.

Don’t think this is overly alarmist; the CIA would go to great lengths to thwart the headquarters’ plan to open the Otherworld Gate.

Fu’en had been detained at Haiya Academy’s military base and yet couldn’t escape their clutches, which showed just how terrifying these people could be.

Along the muddy and dirty alleyways, the two ran frantically, fearing they would be caught up by those behind them.

They ran nearly a kiloter before stopping to rest, gasping for air.

“Boss, what’s our next move?” Hu Daoke asked between heavy breaths, a pained expression on his face.

“If it doesn’t work out, let’s pull back to the academy to lay low for a while,” Luo’er replied after catching his breath a bit.

“What about Feng and the others…” Hu Daoke asked hesitantly.

“Fula, can you get in touch with Feng from here?” Luo’er didn’t answer his question but instead asked Fulajie’er.

“I’ll try,” Fulajie’er answered.

If Luo’er rembered correctly, with the crystal as her center, Fulajie’er could move for several kiloters.

It was just unclear whether she could fly directly back to their lodgings from here to relay the information to Feng.

Soon after, they heard Fulajie’er’s voice, excitedly saying, “Ah, it’s possible, the distance is just right.

Do you want to call her over for help?”

“No need,” Luo’er waved his hand and said, “Tell her to stay at the inn.

We’ll head back to the academy first and et up with her tomorrow.”

“Oh!” Fulajie’er responded.

“Um, boss,” Hu Daoke asked with so concern, “if we leave Feng to fend for herself, won’t she starve?

After all, her ability to survive in this kind of city is nearly zero.”

“Hmm, that’s true,” Luo’er nodded and then hurriedly asked, “Fula, are you still there?”

“Yes, I’m here.

I’ll head over once you’ve finished talking,” Fulajie’er said.

“Alright, tell Feng to listen to Eve about daily life matters, and not to starve herself,” Luo’er instructed.

“Got it,” Fulajie’er responded.

“Er, and also,” Luo’er continued, “whatever you do, don’t communicate directly with Eve.

You’ll scare her to death.”

“I know,” Fulajie’er said in a coy tone, adding, “I’m not just any girl who wanders into other people’s territories willy-nilly.”

“What’s the big deal about that…” Hu Daoke scratched his head, asking in confusion.

“It’s my bottom line, do you understand?

A bottom line,” Fulajie’er declared.

“Alright alright, we get that you have a bottom line.

Go and co back quickly,” Luo’er gestured with his hand.

“Okay, I’m off.

You guys be careful without ,” Fulajie’er said, and in an instant, she flew away from the two, heading for the inn.
