629: Chapter 622: Feng’s Destination 629: Chapter 622: Feng’s Destination “Didn’t I already say, I can’t understand it.” Luo’er replied, his face stern and cold.

“Hmm, I believe you,” the old man nodded and said.

The flas from the burning Book of Prophecy illuminated the room significantly.

Luo’er stared at the burning book, an odd expression crossing his face.

Looking at his own palm, he bit his lip and murmured, “No matter what I do, I’m just the cause of the ending, isn’t it?”

“Luo’er?” Detecting sothing off with Luo’er, Tangmo couldn’t help but calling out to him from behind.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” Luo’er turned back and smiled at her and then turned to the old man and asked, “Before we have enough information, you won’t die, right?”

“Of course,” the old man nodded and added with a smile, “But I should remind you to hurry up because today is almost over.”

“Okay then,” Luo’er nodded and redirected his focus onto the girl, “Let’s talk about her.”

“Sure, what do you want to ask?” The old man was not surprised, but appeared to have expected this.

“She…” Luo’er looked at the girl, hesitating to say sothing.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I haven’t formally introduced her to you,” the old man coughed slightly and then introduced, “Her na is Fengye, you can just call her Feng.”

“And you?” Luo’er asked the old man.

“No need for , I’m going to die today anyways, no need for you all to ntion ,” the old man spoke, paused, then added, “Maybe in the future, you can know my na from others.”

“Is this also part of the prophecy?” Luo’er asked.

Hearing his words, the old man smiled lightly and replied: “If you’re not willing to believe, why keep asking?”

“Alright,” Luo’er pursed his lips and then asked, “Feng, is she immune to the virus?”

“I don’t know.” The old man shook his head.

“I don’t know why you let her roam freely in the epidemic area?” Luo’er asked with a frown.

“All I know is that you will take Feng away, ending this catastrophe and simultaneously starting her life’s chapter.

Thus regardless of what happens, in the end, Feng will be taken away by you all,” the old man answered truthfully.

Clearly, Luo’er could not get any clues about this girl nad Feng from the old man and felt the need to take her back for study, to see if her genes could resist the infection of the virus.

Since the old man said that Feng was the key to ending the disaster, it ant that she could play a huge role in it.

“Are you so confident in handing her over to us?” Luo’er asked.

“Of course, it’s fate’s choice, I have no other choice,” the old man responded.

“Don’t you have your own thoughts?” Luo’er asked.

Upon hearing these words, the old man couldn’t hold back a laugh, and lanted: “I have tried to resist my destiny, only to realise that no matter how much I try to change, it’s all just a cause of the final outco.

It seems like I am defying destiny, but in reality, nothing has changed.

So it dawned upon that rather than defying destiny, I should embrace it.

For , every word I say, every action I take, aligns with destiny.

As to my thoughts, they hold no significance.”

Hearing his words, Luo’er fell into silence, clearly sharing the sa sentint.

“Actually, you have already seen a bit of your destiny,” the old man smiled and said.

“Even if it’s not everything, you already know so future events, so there’s no need for to say more.”

“We’ll take her and take good care of her,” Luo’er spoke again after a short silence.

“As for you, the Book of Prophecy does not ntion what follows.”

“I already know, embrace the flas,” the old man said.

Luo’er nodded, let out a small sigh, and said, “This should be your request, not just fate’s arrangent.”

“It’s all the sa, just that I’ve grown accustod to obedience,” the old man said.

Luo’er turned her head to look at Feng, who was deep in ditation.

The Magic Array beneath her was still glowing, quickly pulling the surrounding magic into the array, then channeling it into her body.

This was a new way of using magic, different from traditional magic.

Luo’er understood clearly, this kind of magic would play an important role in the future developnt of the base.

“I’ve already seen Feng’s fate, so I feel at ease leaving her to you,” said the old man, sighing uncontrollably, “I’ve lived in compliance with my destiny and forgot that I should be her father…

I couldn’t provide her with much affection, so I can only entrust her to you.”

Luo’er glanced at him silently, continuing to observe Feng.

She was not a human from Earth, nor a subspecies, and also not a person from the Otherworld Continent.

There was only one explanation, she must be from another continent.

Scientists on Earth through mapping and calculation, estimated that the volu of the planet in Otherworld should be slightly larger than Mars, but less than Earth.

Such a large planet, Luo’er never believed there would only be this one continent.

The deep-sea behemoth Leviathan restricted the Otherworld people from sailing abroad.

Hence, until the encounter with the Earthlings, Otherworld inhabitants had no opportunity to leave the continent and explore the new planet.

Earthlings, who had major sea discoveries, believed that there should be more unknown continents in other parts of this star.

Perhaps this girl nad Feng is from those mysterious continents.

“Feng.” The old man faced the girl and called her.

“Master!” Feng responded respectfully.

“Go with them, that’s your fate, you’ve never read the Book of Prophecy, so you don’t know your future; I won’t spoil it for you, live well,” the old man said.

“Yes, sir!” Feng bowed her head and replied.

“I’m sorry that I’ve neglected your education, your future…” realizing his slip of the tongue, the old man opened his mouth but didn’t finish his sentence.

Then he faced Luo’er and said, “Young man, although I know what her future holds, I still implore you, please take care of her, could you?”

“I promise you!” Luo’er nodded solemnly.

“It seems our conversation is nearing its end.” The old man turned to the candle beside him.

The little candle had burned to its base, its light dimming, about to extinguish.

The old man opened his mouth, seemingly wanting to say sothing, but in the end, it turned into a long sigh.

Finally, he said, “Since my end is near, I may as well give you a warning.

Young man, after I’m gone, take Feng and leave here, a new disaster is upon us, it’s sothing you can’t withstand.”

“What’s the new disaster?” Luo’er asked, furrowing his brows.

“Feng will tell you.” As he spoke, the old man’s voice suddenly ceased.

He dropped his head dejectedly, his life force fading away.

“Master?” Luo’er gently called the old man.

He was kneeling on the ground, his body slightly tilted backward, chin resting on his chest.

Luo’er extended her hand to his neck, detecting his heartbeat was very weak, and gradually slowing.

When he withdrew his hand, a thick drop of blood rolled down from the old man’s nostril onto his hand.

Evidently, the old man must have sustained internal injuries.

Luo’er had earlier unleashed his wrath to fend off Feng’s attack, perhaps that was when the old man got injured.

Luo’er looked blankly at the blood on his hand, suddenly feeling uneasy inside, always feeling as if he had killed the old man himself.

Although the old man had said that his death was the arrangent of fate, after all, the one who took action was him.

He turned his head to look at Feng, who had stopped her ditation and was calmly looking at the old man.

There was a trace of sadness in her eyes, yet her face was expressionless.

“Are you upset?” Luo’er asked as if under a spell.

“What does ‘upset’ an?” Feng quietly asked.

“Sad!” Luo’er explained.

“What does ‘sad’ an?” Feng continued to ask.

“Don’t you feel sad?” Luo’er asked.

“The master never taught that.” Feng gently shook her head, speaking with an emotionless face.
