511: Chapter 504: Heading to Weird Talk Forest 511: Chapter 504: Heading to Weird Talk Forest Having left the pub owner, Luo’er turned around and found Luoya staring at the owner with a hostile gaze, not knowing what she was thinking.
He guessed that it might have been the negative comnts about Theron that had upset her.
He didn’t understand why she was so protective of Theron.
Luo’er approached Luoya and then led her out of the pub to avoid any possible trouble.
Luoya didn’t resist Luo’er’s touch, possibly because she was afraid of the pub environnt.
She allowed him to guide her out of the establishnt.
“Are you afraid I’ll hit that pub owner?” Luoya questioned Luo’er, looking unhappy after he had led her out of the bar.
Seeing her disgruntled face, Luo’er shook his head helplessly and, with a smile, turned around and began to walk away.
Luoya followed him obediently, frowning at his back.
Walking down the street, Luo’er fell into deep thought.
What on earth was this Weird Talk Forest that those people were talking about?
Why was everyone convinced that a ghost was to bla?
Could it really be connected to the God-making base?
According to the pub owner, the Weird Talk Forest appeared after the God-making base was established, a place that had never existed before.
Could the god-making base have created ghosts?
That seed unlikely.
While magic existed in this world, its fundantal nature was material, so how could such a mystical species exist?
With these thoughts, Luo’er and Luoya visited so elderly people belonging to the Ancient States within the town.
The information they had gathered was unsurprisingly consistent; the Weird Talk Forest had appeared thirty years ago, and before that, there had never been any news of such a place.
It was Theron who brought the ghost into that forest.
Luo’er didn’t know whether the god-making base was related to the Weird Talk Forest, but he still wanted to investigate it.
Originally, they were supposed to be responsible for gathering information within the city, but Luo’er couldn’t care less about that at the mont.
If Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke unwittingly wandered into that forest, it could lead to serious problems.
Although both of them were materialists and dismissed superstitions, a sudden encounter with a ghost would undoubtedly be shocking.
During the interviews, most people had assured him fervently that they had encountered ghosts, which made Luo’er doubt the credibility of these stories.
As Luo’er was about to suggest they leave town, he noticed that Luoya’s focus beca consud by sothing particular.
Following her gaze, he saw a poster flooded with Tasta letters.
He understood Tasta, but due to its phonetic nature, the spelling differed between the north and south, making it challenging for him to comprehend fully.
“So, what does it say?” Luo’er asked Luoya.
It wasn’t that he wanted to seize the mont to get close to Luoya, but as a native from the Ancient States, her reading speed was quicker than his.
She hesitated for a mont before reluctantly saying, “It’s a Wanted Order.
Theron is offering a large reward for foreign heretics from the north, predominantly those from the Church of Light.
Thirty-thousand gold per person!”
“Good thing they didn’t include Cheng Ziang.” Luo’er said, seemingly relieved by the news.
“Stay away from !” Luoya demanded, turning around and scowling.
“Sorry, sorry!” Luo’er said, scratching his head and taking a few steps back with an apologetic look.
Seeing his sincere attitude, Luoya was taken aback and didn’t know what to say.
So she turned her face away and remained silent.
“Captain Luo’er!” Soone nearby who was also looking at the notice got their attention.
He turned toward Luo’er and greeted him respectfully.
Luo’er was surprised.
The man had the appearance of a Blaiqi person, was dressed as an adventurer, and was carrying an FAL rifle on his back.
It was clear that he was a mber of a rcenary group.
“Are you gathering information within the city?” Luo’er asked courteously, after a brief pause.
“Yes, I’m responsible for collecting intelligence in this area.” The rcenary nodded, occasionally glancing at Luo’er and Luoya.
“Then you guys carry on.
You can update later if there’s any news.
We’re going to go.” Said Luo’er, preparing to beckon Luoya to leave.
“Captain Luo’er, are you leaving?” Seeing Luo’er’s departing silhouette, the rcenary nervously called after him.
“Uh, what’s the problem?” Luo’er turned around and saw his unusual behavior.
“Are you going out of town?” the rcenary asked.
He noted Luo’er going in the direction of the city gate, so he guessed he was preparing to leave town.
“Yes, we are heading off for a walk around the Godmaking base.” Luo’er nodded.
These people were all his own, so there was no need for him to hide his whereabouts.
“Do you need to accompany you?” the rcenary asked after a mont of silence.
“Aren’t you going to complete your task?” Luo’er asked while looking at him.
“Protecting Captain Luo’er is also one of my duties,” said the rcenary.
Before Luo’er could reply, Luoya forcefully pulled his coat hem.
He turned around to find her sullenly scowling at him, obviously not fond of interacting with strangers.
However, considering the risk involved, Luo’er didn’t agree with her defiance.
“Alright, you co along with us,” Luo’er decided.
These rcenaries were all rigorously trained, not just so run-of-the-mill individuals.
With them around, Luo’er felt safer, particularly since he was the only one ard.
Should danger arise, he couldn’t guarantee the protection of the defenceless Luoya.
“Rest assured, I will protect Captain Luo’er with my life, and also…” the rcenary began, his gaze involuntarily drifting over Luoya.
“Let’s go, keep up!” Even though the rcenary’s gaze bore no malice, Luo’er still did not appreciate his staring at Luoya.
He pulled her close, using himself as a shield to block the rcenary’s view.
So, the group started to leave the city, heading towards the Godmaking base.
The road was primarily plains, making the journey convenient, but they needed to avoid Theron’s gaze, so they dared not take the main road and instead threaded their way through the woods.
Due to his disdain for the rcenary’s gaze, Luo’er had him lead while he and Luoya fell behind.
Along the way, he once again thought about the pendant on Luoya’s body.
He believed this was an opportunity, a chance for them to infiltrate Theron using the pendant.
He knew that a Church Court individual was worth thirty thousand, wouldn’t the value of a Judgent Legion Commander multiplied several tis over?
With this key, infiltrating Theron would be easygoing, wouldn’t it?
“Luoya, about that pendant of yours, perhaps…” Luo’er hesitated.
“You’re after my pendant again!
Theron isn’t particularly good, but I don’t plan to betray them,” Luoya rejected him, wrinkling her brow.
“That pendant of yours is no use to you, you’re not actually planning to join Theron, are you?” Luo’er enquired.
“What if I am!” Luoya huffed in retaliation.
“We are their enemies now, if you join them at this point, do you plan to leave us behind?” Luo’er asked, a bit helpless.
“Who’s ‘us’!
Stop acting like I’ve already joined you.” Luoya retorted heatedly, imdiately regretting as the words left her mouth.
“So you don’t consider as one of you, don’t you?” Luo’er asked her, his face radiating anger.
“Hmph!” Luoya grunted, remaining silent.
“Listen to , Luoya, if you don’t want to consider as your brother, fine.
But that pendant is not yours.
I got it by killing the Commander of the Judgent Legion, so hand it back to !” Luo’er angrily demanded.
As the two were arguing, the rcenary who was leading suddenly stumbled, almost tumbling into the bushes.
He managed to stabilize himself, turned around, and watched in bewildernt at the quarrelling siblings.
