212: Chapter 205: Encounter a Danger 212: Chapter 205: Encounter a Danger Luo Chuan stood still, lost in thought, suddenly he heard a deep shout from behind.

Although he couldn’t make out exactly what was being shouted, he recognized it as the cry of a beastman.

Damn it, Nina!

The thought of beastn imdiately reminded Luo Chuan of Nina.

He turned around sharply and saw Nina had climbed out of the trench and was standing on a high point.

She looked at Luo Chuan with terror in her eyes, hesitated briefly, then turned and ran in another direction.

“Nina…” Luo Chuan wanted to chase after her but felt a wave of pain throughout his body, especially from the wound in his chest.

Biting his lip, he took out an adrenaline shot from his dkit and injected it into his thigh.

This was Nina’s first encounter with a beastman.

Before her deploynt, her mother had repeatedly warned her about the depraved behaviour of the beastn.

In the war, she had also witnessed their brutalities.

The thought of being captured and exploited by beastn sent a chill down her spine.

In her panic, she didn’t notice the path ahead and stumbled, falling to the ground.

Seeing the beastn closing in on her, she shivered in fear.

Faced with such a number of beastn, even with her magic wand in hand, she wasn’t certain she could fend them all off.

The thought of her impending fate plunged her into despair.

“Bang!”

Suddenly, Nina heard a dull noise behind her.

Right after, sothing exploded within the crowd of beastn.

For a mont, blood and flesh were scattered in all directions, and three beastn, reduced to a bloody ss, lay on the ground, wailing in agony.

“Da da…

da da…” The eerie sound from behind made Nina’s hair stand on end.

It had claid the lives of many of her brethren and almost wiped out the whole elf cavalry.

Luo Chuan erged from behind her.

The adrenaline injection had rid him of his body’s discomfort, and he held the automatic rifle, shooting at the approaching beastn in short bursts.

With exposed bodies or donned in crude iron armors, the beastn were easily penetrated by the 03 automatic rifle’s bullets, falling one by one to the ground.

As a dispatched soldier, Luo Chuan had professional shooting training.

A few short bursts took down all the nearby beastn.

However, their will to live was surprisingly strong.

Even when severely wounded, they were painfully trying to rise.

“You alright?” Luo Chuan turned his head, concern filling his eyes as he looked at her.

He found it very strange that he would choose to save her, his erstwhile enemy.

Nina did not reply.

She looked blankly at him before shifting her gaze to the weapon in his hand, her face filled with terror.

Before Luo Chuan could lower his gun, he could hear beastn howling in the distance.

The commotion here had alerted the beastn who were on corpse-collecting duty.

Luo Chuan noticed that a group of beastn, roughly a hundred, were charging towards them, so of them ard with bows and arrows.

“Damn it, run!” Luo Chuan turned and grabbed the stupefied Nina, not noticing her terrified expression, and began running backwards.

Luo Chuan took out a grenade, removed the safety pin and threw it at the beastn with all his might.

The massive explosion stunned the beastn and paused their chase.

But, so started to loose arrows at the duo.

“Watch out!” Spotting the dazzling arrows flying towards them, Luo Chuan instinctively shouted out to Nina.

He pulled her closer to shield her from the arrows with his own body.

Both of them stumbled and fell awkwardly on the ground.

Luo Chuan gritted his teeth, got up from Nina, and turned around to spray bullets at the beastn.

Just as he turned, Nina noticed an arrow lodged in his back.

“Da da da da…” The 03 rifle spat furious flas, the bullets rained on the beastn, scattering them in chaos.

So unlucky ones were hit, letting out agonizing screams.

“Move!” As he ran out of ammunition, Luo Chuan clenched his teeth and roared without looking back.

Just as he was about to reload, the pursuing beastn found their opportunity and showered him with arrows.

“Damn…” Luo Chuan watched the arrows flying towards him, finding no way to evade them.

Was he going to die here, in this unfamiliar otherworld?

All of a sudden, he heard Nina chanting a word behind him.

Imdiately, it felt as if they were enveloped by sothing, and the volley of arrows was repelled.

Luo Chuan looked back and saw an amulet in Nina’s hand, pointing forward.

“Is this…

magic?” Luo Chuan stared dumbstruck at her, recalling how she dropped her bow and started chanting with a wand, before an ice spike appeared out of nowhere and shot towards them.

Seeing Luo Chuan staring at her blankly, a flustered Nina pointed to his rifle.

Coming to his senses, Luo Chuan hurriedly loaded a new magazine.

As soon as the reloading was completed, Nina’s protective shield disappeared.

Luo Chuan aid at the beastman archers and sprayed bullets, scattering them into disarray.

So beastn who were hit let out howls of pain.

Having dealt with the beastn, Luo Chuan was about to leave with Nina when he suddenly felt a piercing pain in his back.

Despite having used his adrenaline, the pain was still intense.

It seed the arrow lodged in his body was shifting with his movents.

Luo Chuan, trembling from the pain, fell to his knees.

Nina noticed the arrow in his back and quickly let go of his hand to pull it out.

Luo Chuan scread, thinking that Nina was getting her revenge, only to find her pointing her magic wand at his wound and silently casting a spell.

His pain began to recede, and the bleeding stopped.

Sharp pains still ca from the wound, but it was slowly healing under the effect of the restoring magic Nina was casting.

However, what she didn’t know was that for Earthlings, magic could be deadly.

Although Luo Chuan didn’t feel anything yet, he would soon pay a painful price.

The magic lasted for less than three minutes, but he could already feel granulation tissue forming at the wound.

They didn’t have the luxury of doing a full treatnt now as hundreds of beastn were watching them from behind.

Without further ado, Luo Chuan stood up, grabbed his gun, and turned around.

A few beastn were already less than ten ters away.

He imdiately aid his gun at them.

A burst of precise shots took down two beastn instantly, scaring the rest into trenches and foxholes where they cowered tremulously.

Having taken care of the beastn, Luo Chuan turned around, grabbed Nina’s hand, who was dumbfounded, and ran.

He knew it was impossible to abandon her under the current situation, otherwise she would fall into the hands of those beastman and face a fate worse than death.

They needed to get away from this battlefield as possible and could say their goodbyes once they were both safe.

The beastn trailing behind them, showing no fear to the weapon in Luo Chuan’s hand, kept mindlessly chasing after them.

Occasionally they would be frightened off by Luo Chuan’s counters but would resu chasing once he began to run.

Nina, having greater stamina than an ordinary woman, seed to mind Luo Chuan’s intimate touch and broke free from his hand, running independently beside him.

They ran about a few kiloters and soon encountered an obstacle: a river.

It wasn’t very wide, but it was swift.

Located within the territory of Odelanqi, the river went through a deep crevasse before reaching the Roen River via an underground channel.

As they continued to run down the river, they unsurprisingly ca across the deep crevasse.

The crevasse was several kiloters long and about five hundred ters wide, forming a beautiful waterfall as the river flowed into it.

The crevasse was very deep.

Luo Chuan took a look and estimated it to be about one to two hundred ters deep.

His knees went weak just by looking at it.

They found themselves in a desperate bind.

If they attempt to cross the river to the other side, they might get washed down the crevasse by the river.

The terrain around the crevasse was rugged and impassable, and they wouldn’t get very far before being seized by the beastn.

Seeing the two trapped, the beastn slowed down and hid behind the rocks about fifty to sixty ters away from Luo Chuan and Nina to avoid being shot by Luo Chuan’s weapon.

With the number of beastn growing, the two felt a deep sense of despair.

Luo Chuan even considered killing Nina and then committing suicide, letting their bodies be swept down the crevasse to avoid being violated by the beastn.

Of course, this was all his wishful thinking.

He didn’t know what Nina would decide, nor did he have the right to decide her life or death.

Thinking about this, Luo Chuan turned to look at Nina.

She had a terrible look on her face.

Her dark green eyes were hard-set on the beastn not far away, her lips white with fear.

Clearly, she didn’t want to end up in the hands of the beastn, either.

“Hey!”

Luo Chuan called out to her, seeing her look at him in confusion.

Luo Chuan gestured towards the river, suggesting that they should jump into the water and let the waterfall sweep them into the crevasse.

Perhaps they still could stand a chance of survival.

Luo Chuan knew he couldn’t return to Earth for now.

He had to deal with these beastn first.

Getting captured by the Otherworld Allied Army might give them hope, but if caught by these brutes, they would likely face certain death.

Nina’s brow was deeply furrowed, her lips pressed tightly together.

It seed as if she had made up her mind when she pointed first at herself and Luo Chuan, and then at the river.

She finally nodded, apparently agreeing to Luo Chuan’s proposal.

Upon seeing the beastn, Luo Chuan turned off his rifle’s safety.

However, before he could turn back, Nina stepped forward, wrapped an arm around his waist, and held on tightly, causing him to freeze.

Being an elf, Nina was taller than Luo Chuan by half a head.

When she embraced him from behind, Luo Chuan felt an inexplicably comic sense.

All of a sudden, Nina leapt back with Luo Chuan.

Instead of jumping into the river and get swept away as Luo Chuan had suggested, she jumped directly into the waterfall.

The unexpected weightlessness threw off Luo Chuan’s rhythm.

He noticed that Nina was holding onto him tightly from behind.

The mist from the waterfall surrounded them, moistening the air so much that it was difficult for him to breathe.
