Chapter 1705: Chapter 1698: Setting Up Informants

“So, you already knew as well?” Tangmo looked at him and asked.

“I’m not as perceptive as Luo’er, but I did have a vague sense that sothing was off,” Cheng Ziang waved his hand and replied. “It wasn’t until just now, in front of the inn, that I suddenly realized sothing, though I didn’t imdiately connect it to this case.”

“That’s strange. We don’t seem to have exposed our intentions, so why would Anxiang Zheng react so drastically, even going so far as to detain us?” Tangmo asked, puzzled.

“Could it be that you…” Baiyue trailed off, casting a suspicious glance at Cheng Ziang.

“A disciple of the Hongying Sect, Xing Hu, is investigating this case. I had so contact with him earlier today,” Cheng Ziang nodded and said.

“No wonder. If that’s the case, Anxiang Zheng’s reaction isn’t surprising,” Baiyue nodded, a look of understanding crossing his face.

“Or rather, his actions have exposed his identity,” Tangmo added.

“Well, now that the truth is out, why don’t we go to the authorities and report him?” Hu Daoke suggested.

“Don’t be reckless. We’re not investigating this case to deliver justice; we’re using it as a ans to probe the internal conflicts of Qi State,” Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes and replied.

“And don’t forget, Anxiang Zheng is the overseer of the Guyi Governnt,” Baiyue said impassively.

“Besides this matter, it seems that the Heterogeneous Hall is also making moves,” Cheng Ziang suddenly recalled and ntioned.

“The Heterogeneous Hall?” The group asked in unison.

“Yes,” Cheng Ziang nodded and said, “It seems that the Heterogeneous Hall has sent a Spirit Control Master, who has already arrived in Guyi.”

“A Spirit Control Master?!”

The term was unfamiliar, yet unforgettable for the Advance Team. During the war beyond the West Outer Heaven, the Dongsheng military had almost breached Lingyuan City thanks to Spirit Control Masters.

“Did you encounter them?” Baiyue asked.

“No,” Cheng Ziang shook his head and replied. “It was—it was Ah Si who told .”

“Ah Si? You’re calling her that intimately now…” Baiyue rolled his eyes and said.

“I can’t rember her na. Besides, you all don’t know her na either,” Cheng Ziang retorted.

“That girl isn’t from the Heterogeneous Hall? Why do I feel like she’s a spy you planted in their ranks?” Hu Daoke asked, puzzled.

“I treat her well, so she’s willing to help ,” Cheng Ziang said matter-of-factly.

“What kind of ‘well’ are we talking about?” Hu Daoke asked curiously.

“Don’t you start with the lewd jokes. Be careful she doesn’t take revenge on you—she’s quite vengeful,” Cheng Ziang glared at him and replied irritably.

“Do we have any more intel about the Heterogeneous Hall?” Luo’er asked curiously.

“That’s all we’ve got.”

“If the Heterogeneous Hall sent soone to Guyi, it’s clearly targeting us. It seems the Wen Family is genuinely on edge,” Luo’er nodded and analyzed.

“Do they really think the Wu Family has us completely cornered?” Hu Daoke asked.

“Isn’t that the reality?” Cheng Ziang glanced out the window and asked.

“Forget about fear—we’ll break through their ranks, head straight for Yin State, and let nothing stand in our way!” Hu Daoke declared boldly.

“Calm down. Let’s see what their plans are first. We’ve already agreed not to ddle in the internal disputes of Kyushu. If we can avoid using force, we should try not to resort to it,” Luo’er waved his hand and said.

“I have a feeling that things are about to get chaotic in Guyi over the next few days,” Baiyue sighed anxiously.

“We can’t just sit around waiting for whatever cos our way. We have to take so proactive steps,” Tangmo proposed.

“Like what?” Hu Daoke asked.

“Send soone out to keep an eye on things. If the Wen Family is really planning to move against the Anxiang family, we need to know what’s happening—unlike last ti, when we just sat cluelessly at the inn,” Tangmo explained.

“Who should we send?” Cheng Ziang looked around and asked.

“Obviously Little Fengye!” Tangmo said, pulling Feng, who had been playing with Tang Guo, over.

“Wait, you’re okay with sending her out on her own? Isn’t her identity still pretty sensitive in Kyushu?” Cheng Ziang pointed out.

“She’ll have Xiao Fula helping her,” Tangmo said confidently.

“By the way, where is Xiao Fula? Is she afraid of the little fox demon and hiding sowhere?” Cheng Ziang asked, glancing around.

“Oh, she’s upset because Sister Moumou brought a young girl back with her,” Baiyue explained.

“Jealous that she’s no longer Luo’er’s only favorite little one, huh,” Cheng Ziang sighed and shook his head. “These demigods—none of them are reliable.”

“There are only two; don’t insult our ancestors,” Hu Daoke retorted.

“Mind your own business.” Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes at him.

“Anyway, let Feng and Xiao Fula remain outside to monitor movents and report back to us. Don’t worry about Xiao Fula’s little tantrums—Luo’er’s orders are final, temper or no temper,” Tangmo said.

“Stop making sound like a tyrant,” Luo’er sighed. “I’ll have to placate her later.”

“The question is: how do we get Feng out? The place is surrounded—and she can’t use a Fog Concealnt Skill,” Cheng Ziang said, troubled.

“Don’t forget, Feng is our Advance Team’s top mobility operator. Flying out should be easy for her,” Tangmo said.

“The guards aren’t blind—won’t they see her in the sky?”

“Then have Xiao Fula cause a big distraction to draw their attention,” Tangmo suggested, spreading his hands.

“You rely on her so much yet always manage to annoy her,” Cheng Ziang comnted.

“What do you an I rely on her? It’s an Advance Team mission, not sothing personal,” Tangmo said, looking justified.

“Sending Little Fengye out—she really draws the short straw,” Hu Daoke said with a hint of pity.

“Don’t worry about her. She’ll love the freedom—it’s all she ever wants,” Tangmo said with a clap.

“Is that true?”

Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke looked at Feng, who nodded in agreent.

“What do you think, Luo’er?” Cheng Ziang turned to Luo’er and asked.

“You’ve all already decided—why bother asking ?” Luo’er said faintly.

“You’re the captain. Who else would we ask?” Cheng Ziang rolled his eyes.

“I agree with Tangmo’s strategy. We shouldn’t stay passive. Since you’ve all made up your minds, I’ll give my approval without further input,” Luo’er said firmly.

“Perfect,” Cheng Ziang nodded. “I’ll talk more with Ah Si and see if I can get more useful intel from her.”

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Hu Daoke asked with concern.

“Love clouds the mind…” Tangmo said, giving Cheng Ziang a half-sarcastic smile.

After their discussion, the Advance Team began their deploynt. With their suspicions about the culprit, the team proceeded with a more focused and purposeful plan.

The decision to place Feng outside was essentially to extend the Advance Team’s vigilance and enhance reconnaissance.

While Xiao Fula could have handled surveillance alone, her supportive role made her less suitable for direct engagent. In case of an ergency, a combat-capable ally was essential to station outside.

The plan went smoothly. At nightfall, Fulajie’er perford another “miracle,” drawing the attention of the surrounding guards. Taking advantage of this ruse, Feng activated her mobility device, leaping over the walls to land gracefully on the rooftops outside the inn. She moved effortlessly between buildings, quickly finding her position outside.

While bounding across rooftops, Feng noticed distant flas rising from the direction of the West Market. Curiosity prompted her to ask Fulajie’er to investigate the situation. The report back left her stunned.

A house in the West Market was engulfed in fiery destruction, with people scrambling to contain the blaze. Outside the burning building, she spotted the lifeless bodies of a family of three.

The father and young son had their throats slashed, their blood staining their garnts. The mother lay disheveled—or rather, completely unclothed—evidence of the violation she suffered before her death.
