Chapter 1677: Chapter 1670: Dragons Fight Tigers Contest

After listening to Anxiang Zheng’s description, Cheng Ziang finally relaxed his tense heart.

Sure enough, when encountering such situations, these people would first suspect the cultivators rather than those non-cultivators like them.

Although mages are considered cultivators, they don’t possess the aura unique to cultivators, making it difficult to judge them as threatening.

Watching Anxiang Zheng lead the troops away, Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but fall into deep thought.

Seeing him lower his head, Baiyue quickly said, “No, it’s not necessarily a cultivator. Those people were hit by a Shock Bomb at close range and had already lost their ability to resist. Even ordinary people could easily kill them.”

“But,” Cheng Ziang looked at her and said, “this isn’t the first case. Surely not all victims lost their ability to resist first before soone took advantage of the situation, right?”

“So, you also lean toward the culprit being a cultivator?” Tangmo asked.

“That’s right, and it’s very likely to be one person or a group with a motive for the cris,” Cheng Ziang contemplated.

“But why did he kill those five people? Is it to fra us?” Hu Daoke asked uneasily.

“Anxiang Zheng said there were similar cases before we arrived. So it’s quite possible that Moumou and Yue’er just happened to encounter it, and it’s unlikely they were deliberately frad,” Cheng Ziang analyzed.

“So the death of those five people must have other hidden reasons.” Tangmo frowned and said.

“In any case, let’s head back first. Without Luo’er around, neither of us feels confident. After all, they respect the saint, not us, the attendants,” Cheng Ziang said.

The group hurriedly returned to the lodging under Fulajie’er’s guidance and t the calm Luo’er.

Sitting cross-legged on the bed with his eyes closed, Luo’er slowly opened his eyes after listening to everyone’s description. His long, fluttering eyelashes stirred Tangmo’s heart.

“So, those five people tried to assault you, and you subdued them and escaped, but didn’t kill them?” Luo’er asked.

“Yes, I’m still scared now.” Tangmo pouted, showing a frightened and wronged expression, hoping for Luo’er’s sympathy.

“Are you sure the five dead people are the sa ones you encountered?” Luo’er asked further.

“Pretty sure…” Everyone looked at each other, and Cheng Ziang nodded in response.

“If it’s not to fra us, then there’s only one reason,” Luo’er lowered his head, thinking aloud, “An act of justice?”

“You an, soone saw them trying to harm Sister Moumou and Yue’er and took righteous action to kill those five people?” Cheng Ziang asked.

“Such things often happen, and not only since we’ve arrived. If the attacker is always the sa person, it ans his purpose isn’t us,” Luo’er said.

“This seems a bit far-fetched,” Cheng Ziang said.

“I’ve always wondered if there are any good people left in Kyushu?” Hu Daoke said sarcastically.

“I think this is a very interesting point of insertion. The attacker only targets cultivators, which could involve civil-military tensions worth exploring,” Baiyue suddenly spoke up, making a shocking statent.

The Wen Family and the Wu Family are essentially conceptual terms rather than specific sects.

Civil-military tensions are widespread in East Prosperity Nine States, from court disputes to civilian conflicts.

So Baiyue’s suggestion is reasonable. Based on the existing information, it’s likely related to civil-military tensions, warranting an in-depth investigation.

“Shall we investigate?” Cheng Ziang looked at Luo’er and asked.

“Hmm…” Luo’er seed uncertain.

“We discussed before about understanding why Qi State is independent. Isn’t this a good entry point now?” Baiyue continued.

“In any case, let’s learn so details first and try to avoid trouble,” Luo’er pondered.

“If we investigate, Anxiang Zheng is a good target. He’s the commander of Guyi Governnt and should know a lot about the situation,” Cheng Ziang suggested.

“I think we should first get in touch with the governnt office and build a good relationship with the County Magistrate Anxiang Cai,” Baiyue suggested.

“How should we arrange it?” Tangmo looked at Luo’er and asked.

“Arrange what? Just split up and act,” Hu Daoke said carelessly.

“Alright, I’ll go communicate with Anxiang Zheng, and you guys handle Anxiang Cai,” Cheng Ziang suggested.

“Just you?” Hu Daoke pointed at him and asked.

“I have a helper?” Cheng Ziang said mysteriously.

“Who?” Hu Daoke’s eyes widened, apparently having forgotten Hun Jiansi.

“The person who’s close to you, what was their na again…” Even Baiyue, with her quick thinking, couldn’t recall Hun Jiansi’s na after frowning for a while.

“Alright, stop trying to guess her na. If it were that easy, she wouldn’t be a descendant of the Fog Concealnt Skill,” Cheng Ziang shrugged and said.

“When did you guys beco so close?” Hu Daoke squinted his eyes and asked.

“Isn’t that good? Rarely do we have soone so capable willing to help us,” Cheng Ziang said nonchalantly.

“Brother, she’s here to monitor us.” Hu Daoke spread his hands and said.

“Just monitoring. Can we really escape the Emperor’s Sect’s surveillance? If not, why not try to win over soone from the Emperor’s Sect?” Cheng Ziang said matter-of-factly.

“That’s not an excuse for you to flirt,” Hu Daoke sneered, rembering that person was a woman.

“I have her help on my side, and Liseya for safety, so you don’t need to worry about my safety,” Cheng Ziang reassured.

“Is this okay?” Baiyue looked at Luo’er and asked.

“Ziang knows what he’s doing; so things, don’t make decide,” Luo’er said with a wry smile.

“Then I’ll stay with Luo’er, you guys go ahead.” Tangmo said shalessly.

“You follow them, don’t ss around,” Cheng Ziang sighed and said helplessly.

“Doesn’t anyone care about Luo’er’s feelings? Left alone, won’t Luo’er be lonely?” Tangmo pouted and asked.

“I won’t be lonely,” Luo’er looked at her and answered seriously.

“But I will be lonely.” Tangmo didn’t care anymore and began acting up.

“You’re with every day,” Luo’er said helplessly.

“That’s why separation makes the loneliness so profound,” Tangmo said self-righteously.

It seed she was determined to possess Luo’er, no longer concerned about formalities. To her, embarrassnt was temporary, but losing even a second would feel like an eternity.

Evidently, if Baiyue lingered any longer, she would just watch Luo’er fall.

But this ti, Baiyue didn’t intend to back down. She looked at Tangmo, calmly saying, “Sister Moumou, co with , as we agreed.”

“I refuse. You never keep your promises,” Tangmo rejected.

“I keep them,” Baiyue said, “At least from now on, I’ll adhere to our agreent.”

“Alright, it’s your word. If you stay inert like before, then it’s up to ,” Tangmo looked at her seriously and said.

“Alright.” Baiyue nodded solemnly.

“What agreent do you two have?” Cheng Ziang curiously interjected.

“None of your business, it’s a secret between girls.” Tangmo said unceremoniously.

“A secret, probably about Luo’er.” Cheng Ziang glanced at Luo’er disdainfully.

“Alright, don’t change the subject now,” Luo’er felt a bit embarrassed and sternly waved them off.

“When I’m not around, you better not try anything,” Baiyue pursed her lips and said bravely.

“Let’s see how capable you are.” Tangmo spread her hands, appearing indifferent.

Slling the tension between the two, Cheng Ziang and Hu Daoke exchanged glances and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Luo’er’s going to have it rough this ti.”
