Chapter 1630: Chapter 1623: Convincing with Reason

The struggle between the literary and martial factions in Kyushu has existed for a long ti, ever since the establishnt of the Dongsheng Empire and the inception of the Cabinet, such contradictions had already arisen.

Nowadays, as the representative of the Wen Family, the Cabinet has indeed beco the actual governing body of the Dongsheng Empire, whereas the position of Emperor Wu has been significantly weakened.

However, once outside Shengyuan Prefecture, the influence of the Cabinet diminishes, with the major clans in each state being staunch supporters of the Wu Family.

The Wu Family is only out of favor in the Imperial Court. Once outside the court, the Wu Family’s influence spans almost the entire Kyushu, which is one of the reasons why the Wu Family can tolerate the Wen Family without resorting to outright conflict.

Although the Wu Family is arrogant, most people are still sensible. Under the governance of the Cabinet, the empire has thrived for over two hundred years, sufficiently proving the value of the Wen Family.

Before the Dongsheng Empire, no other empire had lasted more than two hundred years and managed to ensure that no large-scale wars erupted within its borders.

The Cabinet achieved it; the Wen Family accomplished it.

The nature and degree of conflict among the Cultivators, or the Wu Family, severely harm the foundation of national construction.

Imagine, in an environnt where disagreents quickly lead to fights to the death, how could a great nation erge?

Since the beginning of the Dongsheng Empire, since the establishnt of the Cabinet, the Wen Family has always been working on one thing: to mitigate the belligerence of the Cultivators’ group and weaken the influence of the Wu Family.

Such actions naturally provoke resistance from the Wu Family, but they also have to admit that the systemic asures of the Wen Family also brought benefits to the Wu Family.

All citizens of Kyushu enjoy the benefits bestowed by the Wen Family, and the entire empire has long been stable and peaceful, with no large-scale wars for over two hundred years.

Thus, the existence of the Wen Family is not only tacitly approved by the Wu Family but also supported by other social strata.

This is why the Wen Family can confront the Wu Family on equal footing and even gain so upper hand.

The lack of martial power is not a barrier for the Wen Family’s existence because their presence is tacitly allowed by others. Both other social classes and part of the Wu Family forces, who have grown accustod to comfortable peace, are included.

The Wen Family has repeatedly tested the limits of the Wu Family, from initially controlling the central Imperial Court’s powers to later granting so rights to the Demon Clan.

Every action they take is akin to carefully picking at the Wu Family’s thorns, gently tearing them and causing gradual pain.

Under the machinations of the Wen Family, so Cultivators in Kyushu have even begun to dislike the Wu Family, with Huayu Ting being a typical example.

The Wen Family granted rights to the Demon Clan, and Huayu Ting’s wife and children belong to the Demon Clan, making the Wen Family’s policies unsurprisingly align with Huayu Ting’s interests.

But after all, the Huayu Family is a major Cultivation clan in Hua State, so Huayu Ting cannot publicly declare support for the Wen Family, hence neutrality becos his chosen stance.

“Is the saint coming from the Western Continent?”

After a mont of silence, Huayu Ting gathered his courage again and looked towards Luo’er to ask.

“Indeed.” Luo’er nodded lightly.

“Is the Western Continent also as bad as Kyushu?” Huayu Ting asked sowhat lancholically.

“Not quite so.” Luo’er gently shook his head.

“Oh?”

“How much does Young Lord know about the war in West Outer Heaven?”

Instead of directly answering, Luo’er posed an unrelated question.

“I’ve grown accustod to the Imperial Court’s habit of sending people to their deaths. But this ti, it seems the court has suffered quite severely,” Huayu Ting said with a soft laugh.

“In the war in West Outer Heaven, we took the side of the Demon Clan,” after a mont’s hesitation, Luo’er said lightly.

“I can understand,” Huayu Ting smiled again, seemingly unshocked, “Without external factors, the court couldn’t possibly lose so miserably.”

“Our inner morals do not allow us to watch a nation be invaded, a race exterminated. The world is unkind and treats all beings as straw dogs. No one can slaughter another race under the pretense of survival. Neither the people of Kyushu nor the Demon Clan can.”

“If one day the Demon Clan invades Kyushu in the na of revenge and slaughters the people of Kyushu, we will stand unhesitatingly with the people of Kyushu and oppose the Demon Clan.”

Perhaps because of his firm belief, Luo’er spoke these words with full vigor and resonance, which sowhat contradicted his gentle nature.

“A fence-sitter, huh?” Huayu Ting revealed a mocking smile.

“I’m sorry you think that way, but if justice is the asure, I don’t mind being called a fence-sitter,” Luo’er said.

“It seems I was shortsighted,” Huayu Ting said expressionlessly, his thoughts unreadable.

“Returning to your earlier question about whether Western Continent is similar to Kyushu. In the areas we directly govern, we strive to foster order and fairness, devoid of class or exploitation.”

“However, in regions beyond our direct control, injustices and persecutions are common. We are working to change this, but such changes are not accomplished overnight.”

“You ask why we ca to Kyushu, my answer is, for peace, for fairness. You are welco to question our perspective, but we will prove with facts that we are not rely talking the talk.”

Luo’er’s righteous words and determined expression montarily touched Huayu Ting deeply. In Luo’er’s eyes, Huayu Ting seed to see a divine glow unique to deities, as if Luo’er truly was a representative of the gods.

“Is there really such a selfless being, who seeks to purge the darkness and evils of the world?” Huayu Ting murmured.

“If you believe there is, then there is. If you take action yourself, then you are that person. When you live out your beliefs, you can beco like us. After we are gone, you will be us,” Luo’er earnestly said.

“The fairness and justice of this world…” Huayu Ting lowered his eyelids, appearing sowhat trance-like, “Then, what should I do?”

“If you enter the turbulent waters, you learn the tricks of the trade. If you enter the mundane world, you learn the suffering of mortal life. By then, you will naturally know what to do,” Luo’er said.

“Is that so…” Huayu Ting nodded slightly.

“If you truly wish to do so, rember, reaching your goals requires two types of strength,” Luo’er said.

“Which two?”

“The first is order, the second is fairness. If you master these two, the world will change,” Luo’er explained.

“Order… Fairness…” Huayu Ting muttered to himself.

“Did my preaching perhaps weary Young Lord sowhat?” Luo’er asked.

“No, not at all.”

Huayu Ting shook his head, then took two steps back facing Luo’er, bowed solemnly, and said with a guilty expression, “Listening to your discourse has opened my eyes. Please forgive my earlier offensive words, saint.”

“There is no need for Young Lord to be so formal,” Luo’er said gently, waving his hand.

“If the saint has spare ti, I would be grateful for further enlightennt,” Huayu Ting said, bowing his head.

“If Young Lord doesn’t mind, I would gladly share more, as I too am quite bored, and having soone to talk to is nice,” Luo’er said with a light laugh.

“Then I am much obliged, saint,” Huayu Ting said respectfully.

Tangmo stood quietly aside, watching the interaction between Luo’er and Huayu Ting without saying a word. She witnessed Huayu Ting’s transition from initial disdain to enlightennt, and then to respect.

With just a few words, Luo’er had a late-stage Jiedan Realm expert voluntarily lower his stance to seek guidance. This not only demonstrated his rhetorical influence, but more so his personal charisma.

Tangmo never doubted Luo’er’s charisma, as it was internally acknowledged within the Advance Team.

She did not question it; rather, she felt vexed because such a Luo’er, like a flower brimming with nectar, always attracted the attention of flies and butterflies. She never doubted Luo’er’s loyalty in love, but this feeling made her uncomfortable.

Since arriving in Otherworld, thanks to a wealth of knowledge, Luo’er’s eloquence had greatly advanced over the years. Essentially, he could subdue his opponents without fighting, just through verbal persuasions.

Of course, the formidable martial power of the Advance Team served as a solid backing to Luo’er’s rhetoric. When words failed, the Advance Team’s force was equally uncompromising.
