1586: Chapter 1579: Harmonious Past 1586: Chapter 1579: Harmonious Past “Fei Yu, Fei Yu…” Tangmo held Fei Yu’s hand, squatted down, and comforted her gently, “Don’t be too upset, everything will be alright, okay?”

“I have failed my husband, I have failed my husband…” Fei Yu, who had obviously completely crumbled, continued, “Twice, no, three tis, I’ve failed to protect our child every single ti, sothing always happens…I am an incompetent wife, and even more, an incompetent mother…”

“Think positively; no one will harm the children, they will be okay, alright…” Tangmo said patiently, trying to console her.

“How can you say they will be, our child was killed by soone else, he was only eight years old…” Fei Yu cried out, breaking down.

“We will help you thoroughly investigate this, don’t worry for now.

Regardless, try to think of the best possible outcos,” Tangmo said with a lowering of his head, then raising it to speak firmly after a mont of silence.

“I have failed my husband, if sothing happens to the child again, I really won’t have the face to confront him anymore,” Fei Yu said in tears.

“Fei Yu, calm down, don’t think like that,” Tangmo said, raising his voice and speaking seriously.

“Our first child died due to my negligence, the second child went missing for the sa reasons, and now the remaining child is gone too, I, I…those are all the proofs of love between my husband and …” Fei Yu was sobbing uncontrollably, collapsing into Tangmo’s arms, crying her heart out.

“Sigh…” Left speechless, Tangmo could only offer his shoulder for her to cry on.

Hu Daoke and Baiyue started to inspect the courtyard, which wasn’t very large – just about three rooms and two halls – plus the kitchen outside of the courtyard.

It’s worth ntioning that the walls around the courtyard were built exceptionally high; an average person wouldn’t be able to climb over them without so tools.

Although it was said that both were inspecting, the main inspector was Baiyue, because she was ticulous enough to grasp even the slightest clue.

“There are signs of the courtyard gate being forcefully pushed; the intruder must be very strong to have pushed open the gate and broken into the courtyard,” Baiyue remarked after making her round and arriving at the gate.

“Could it be soone climbed the wall?” Hu Daoke pointed at the wall and asked.

“Unlikely, when I went out just now, I also checked the external walls.

Though they are covered with climbing vines, these vines are not strong enough to support a person climbing over, and there are no signs of damage, which ans the intruder ca in through the front door,” Baiyue said, shaking her head.

“This is a ho invasion,” Hu Daoke remarked with a tongue click.

“They must have known that only children were inside the house, so they acted so recklessly,” Baiyue pondered.

“These guys are really lawless…” Hu Daoke shook his head.

“There aren’t many signs of a struggle in the courtyard, but the doors to the rooms have been damaged.

I’m guessing the children must have hidden inside but couldn’t escape the intruder,” Baiyue said, her gaze towards the door.

“Could the children fight against an adult?” Hu Daoke asked, shrugging his shoulders.

“Even if they couldn’t fight, they could still struggle,” Baiyue said, walking over to Hu Daoke, she grabbed his hand and placed it on her arm, and then continued, “Lift up.”

“Like this?” Hu Daoke said, effortlessly lifting Baiyue by the arm.

“Yes.” Baiyue nodded and then suddenly threw a knee strike, hitting Hu Daoke’s abdon with a force that was neither too hard nor too soft.

He let out a grunt and bent over, allowing Baiyue to swiftly break free and take a couple of steps back.

“Like this, even if there’s a big difference in size between you and , I can still put up a fight,” Baiyue said earnestly.

“You could have just said so, no need to actually go through with it…” Hu Daoke said, grimacing.

“Let’s examine the place more carefully; specifically, let’s look for any bloodstains,” Baiyue said, frowning slightly and sounding anxious, “After all, the children might be from the Demon Clan, and the intruder might not be here solely for the purpose of kidnapping.”

“Then this is even more serious,” Hu Daoke said, straightening up.

“Are you all right?” Baiyue asked with concern.

“Minor issue, your little strength couldn’t possibly harm .” Hu Daoke waved his hand, dismissing the concern.

“I was just demonstrating.

If I really went for it, you’d be laid out for a long while.” Baiyue said.

“I know you’re capable, just hurry up and check.” Hu Daoke said with a wry smile.

After another round of checking, they ultimately did not find any bloodstains, and Baiyue’s tightly furrowed brow finally relaxed a bit.

But along with the good news was that they found no further clues.

“The children must have been taken,” Baiyue pondered.

She paused for a mont and could not help but question, “Why would they take the children?

Is it because they are from the Demon Clan?”

“Let’s go ask that mother,” Hu Daoke suggested.

“Yes, that’s all we can do.” Baiyue nodded in agreent.

Leaving the courtyard, they arrived at the open space outside, where, under Tangmo’s comforting, Fei Yu had finally stopped crying, but still sobbed uncontrollably.

“How did it go?” Seeing them approach, Tangmo asked with concern.

“The doors to the courtyard and the house show signs of forced entry; it seems the intruders knew there were only children inside, so they brazenly broke in,” Baiyue paused before continuing, “But thankfully, there aren’t many signs of struggle or bloodstains inside, so it seems that the children were simply taken away.”

She spoke these words in the language of the Demon Clan, and although Fei Yu had been living in Kyushu for a long ti, she still understood the language of the Demon Clan.

Hearing what Baiyue said, she was finally sowhat reassured.

“Fei Yu,” Baiyue said, turning to look at her, “may I ask you a question?”

“Um…” Fei Yu lifted her head to look at her and nodded gently.

“Why would those people take the children?

You must know sothing, right?” Baiyue asked intently.

“I know…” Fei Yu took a deep breath, nodded slowly and began, “After the second child disappeared, my lord was very anxious, so he offered a reward and had people capture children of the Demon Clan, hoping to find his own.

The child has been missing for several days, and my lord said he captured many children these past days, but has not found his own…”

“So, your child might have been taken by soone to claim a reward, is that right?” Baiyue asked.

“Um…” Fei Yu nodded.

“Then why the ltdown?” Tangmo asked, puzzled.

As if touching on her sorrow, Fei Yu started sobbing again, crying as she said, “You don’t understand…

Our first child was lost due to my negligence and then died.

I can never forget the look of despair on my lord’s face as he held our child’s body.

He did not punish , but I wish he had, it would have eased my heart a little…

Perhaps because of our child’s death, recently, my lord has beco increasingly irate.

Although he has never vented at , I can feel that he is very, very angry…”

“Are you worried that he will punish you when he cos back?” Tangmo asked.

“I wish he would punish ; I wish he would beat to death…” Fei Yu said through sobs, “I did him wrong.

We had a happy family, though we couldn’t be openly together, but we loved each other, and lived harmoniously as husband and wife and children.

Everything was shattered because of my negligence…”

“Can you elaborate on the death of the child?

We do not an to hurt you, we just want to help you sort things out and provide counsel,” Tangmo said softly.

“Um…” Perhaps it was Tangmo’s deanor that earned Fei Yu’s trust, she sniffed and nodded slightly.

“Our relationship should not be made public, so my lord kept here, visiting regularly each month.

Ever since I accidentally conceived our first child, we have had four children together…

The oldest child, perhaps out of longing for his father, sneaked out when I wasn’t paying attention, thinking he could find his father, but then…”

At this point, Fei Yu seed to recall the painful mory, felt a sourness in her throat, and couldn’t speak any more, only sobbing could be heard.
