1484: Chapter 1477: eting With the Elders 1484: Chapter 1477: eting With the Elders “The Elders want to see ?” Hearing the description of the visitor, Cheng Ziang couldn’t help but be stunned.

“Yes, may I inquire if the gentleman is willing to accompany for a talk?” The mber of the Ghost Race said respectfully.

“Are you sure there are no tricks up your sleeve?” Baiyue asked in Tasta language, sowhat worried.

“There shouldn’t be any.

Even if there are, it doesn’t matter.

After all, I’m not a pushover,” Cheng Ziang looked back at her, smiled confidently, and said.

“It’s still better to be cautious.

Let’s wait for Miss Zisu to arrive and go together,” Baiyue suggested.

“It feels like they’re here specifically for ,” Cheng Ziang ntioned.

“Please do not worry, sir.

We an no harm; the Elder simply wishes to et with the gentleman,” the Ghost Race mber said, sensing their hesitation, though he did not understand their conversation, and tried to reassure them.

“Is Miss Zisu also here?” Cheng Ziang asked tentatively.

“No, Miss Zisu is currently in a eting with soone else.

The Elder would like to have a private conversation with the gentleman,” the Ghost Race mber replied.

“What is there to talk about with ?” Cheng Ziang asked, spreading his hands.

The Ghost Race mber did not speak further but crossed his hands over his stomach and leaned slightly forward, adopting a humble stance to show his respect to Cheng Ziang.

“Alright, I’ll go with you,” Cheng Ziang said after a mont of contemplation.

“Ziang,” Baiyue called out worriedly.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry.

I won’t get into any trouble.

It’s you guys who should be more careful,” Cheng Ziang, about to step out of the room, turned back and gestured to reassure them.

“Fine, then we’ll wait here for your return,” Baiyue said, biting her lip.

“It’s up to you, but if Miss Zisu arrives, do not reveal my whereabouts to her,” Cheng Ziang suddenly rembered sothing and said to her.

“Why?” Baiyue asked reflexively.

“Well, it’s hard to say.

I just feel that there is still a deep divide between us.

It’s better to keep so secrets from each other,” Cheng Ziang pondered and said.

“I understand, I’ll adapt as needed,” Baiyue nodded and replied.

“Good, I trust you.

Take good care of yourself.

I’ll be back shortly,” Cheng Ziang said before resolutely following the Ghost Race mber out of the room.

He followed the Ghost Race mber along the stone path, passing through corridors, and into the depths of the grand structure.

Cheng Ziang noticed that the route they were taking was completely different from the one to the banquet they had attended before; it was evident that the Ghost Race Elder was waiting for him elsewhere.

After a walk of approximately ten minutes, they arrived at a courtyard with a small stilt house at its center.

The base was constructed from blue stone, while the house above was a simple wooden structure, creating a stark contrast with the surrounding stone buildings.

There was a wisp of blue smoke rising from the stilt house, clearly indicating that soone was lighting a fire inside.

Cheng Ziang surveyed his surroundings; this was clearly not an ordinary place.

A Ghost Race warrior stood guard every ten steps, each wearing a cloak and ard with a wooden sword, and two robust Ghost Race warriors stood guard at the entrance of the high-raised house.

These two warriors were unlike the other Ghost Race warriors.

They were over two ters tall with exceptional physiques.

Cheng Ziang could clearly see the greyish-white armor under their cloaks, which upon closer inspection, turned out to be made of stone.

The weapons these two warriors held were also different from those of the other Ghost Race warriors.

Each one was wielding a long polearm, sowhat similar to the Guan Dao but with a blade that was straight and angular rather than curved.

Cheng Ziang had never seen such warriors of the Ghost Race before; although they all wore terrifying Yaksha masks, Cheng Ziang could almost boldly judge that these two warriors of the Ghost Race were very likely not Ghost tribesn, but the Faceless they had encountered before.

Although it had always been emphasized that the so-called Faceless are nad as such because they never wear masks.

But there has always been a problem with this claim—how to define their identity when the Faceless indeed choose to wear masks?

Clearly, the Ghost Race had provided an answer—if the Faceless are willing to put on masks, they could be considered as mbers of the Ghost Race.

These two robust Ghost Race warriors were very likely to have been assimilated from the Faceless.

The Ghost Race envoy led Cheng Ziang straight through the clearing to the entrance stairs of the stilt house and stopped.

Then he turned respectfully to Cheng Ziang and said, “If the gentleman is carrying any weapons, please leave them here temporarily, and I will arrange for soone to keep them safe.”

“Alright!” Cheng Ziang nodded; he had rushed out without bringing a knife, so he just handed over his gun holster and dagger to the Ghost Race envoy.

After entrusting these items to the warriors, the Ghost Race envoy respectfully invited Cheng Ziang to ascend the stairs and led him into the house.

The interior layout of this stilt-style house was similar to those in the village they had stayed in before.

Directly opposite the main door was the hearth, and at that mont, a fire was burning in the hearth, and a Ghost Race elder was sitting on a cushion in front of the fire, ditating with his eyes closed and quietly waiting for Cheng Ziang’s arrival.

Following custom, Cheng Ziang removed his shoes, and then, guided by the Ghost Race envoy, sat down on the cushion in front of the hearth, gazing intently at the ditating Ghost Race elder.

Although he was wearing a mask, Cheng Ziang could distinctly feel the sa aura emanating from him as from the Ghost Race elder they had seen before.

So, he could almost certainly conclude that this person was the Ghost Race elder they had previously t.

Seemingly sensing Cheng Ziang’s presence, the Ghost Race elder slightly opened his cloudy eyes and looked up at Cheng Ziang.

“It is truly an honor for this old man to have you accept the invitation.” After a pause, the elder spoke in a weathered voice.

However, he spoke in the language of the Ghost Race, which Cheng Ziang would not understand in theory, so as soon as the elder finished speaking, the Ghost Race envoy who was by his side prepared to act as an interpreter, translating the elder’s words for Cheng Ziang.

“Wait,” the elder gestured with his hand for the Ghost Race envoy to be silent, then looked at Cheng Ziang and said, “The gentleman understands the Ghost Race language, right?”

Faced with the elder’s questioning, Cheng Ziang fell silent for a mont and then suddenly chuckled and took the initiative to remove his mask.

This act was sowhat perplexing because according to the traditions of the Ghost Race, even outsiders were required to wear masks on such significant occasions; otherwise, it would be regarded as an insult to the host.

However, Cheng Ziang seed to have no such concerns; he took off his mask and placed it beside him, facing the elder openly.

The Ghost Race envoy by his side turned pale, standing still in a sowhat flustered manner.

“As expected, you are an outsider from beyond this world.” Seeing Cheng Ziang’s face, the elder was not angry; instead, he nodded approvingly.

“How did the elder know that I understand the Ghost Race language?” Cheng Ziang asked curiously in the Ghost Race language.

“When Miss Zisu brought you here, I felt there was sothing off about you.

Indeed, you understand our language, which ans we don’t need a third person to interfere with our conversation,” spoke the elder softly, gesturing for the Ghost Race envoy to step back.

Following the elder’s gesture, the Ghost Race envoy, looking uneasy, glanced at Cheng Ziang, took a deep breath, and ultimately complied with the elder’s arrangents, silently exiting the house.

In a short while, two Ghost Race won wearing animal masks ca over carrying plates, presenting them with a ceramic cup of warm, dark green liquid.

“This is Ningxin grass juice; please help yourself.

Before we dine, we have ti for three cups, so we can chat freely,” the elder indicated with a gesture.

Cheng Ziang picked up the cup and took a sip of the liquid; it tasted sowhat like mint.

Although it was warm on the lips, once swallowed, the entire esophagus could feel a piercing coolness.

“Did the elder invite here simply to offer a al?” Cheng Ziang took a deep breath of cool air, set down the cup, and asked.

“There are so matters I would like to discuss with the gentleman.

I apologize for inviting only you and will ensure your companions are well treated,” said the Ghost Race elder.

“Thank you, elder,” Cheng Ziang replied, nodding slightly in gratitude.
