166. Nozomi’s mangekyou
“So, what does your mangekyou do?” With nothing better to do while the three traveled through the endless forests of fire nation Hinata decided to chat for a bit.
“I’m not really sure. Never got to actually test it out properly. Though there is this kind of instinctive feel of how to use them and what they do I couldn’t actually explain it.” Nozomi answered with a thoughtful expression.
“Do you want to test it out? That way you would also get to test out the eye drops” Tomoka suggested. They were having a good ti and should be in the land by the end of the day. Another day to get to the hidden village, then one for dealing with Gaara and another two for the trip back, they had another two days of leeway as well.
“Sure” With that the three stopped.
“So, how do you want to do this?” Asked Hinata. It would be a lie for the girl to say she wasn’t a bit jealous of Nozomi. Afterall, Tomoka had explained everything about the mangekyou to them and how powerful they could be.
“First thing first” Answered Nozomi as she applied the eye drops. While doing so she tried to figure out a good way to test her eyes. Sothing in the back of her mind was telling her that the easiest way would be to use it on a jutsu.
“While we wait, can you try and explain what this instinct tells you about them?” Asked Tomoka with curiosity. They needed to wait for five minutes anyway so might as well use the ti for sothing useful.
“Sure, it feels like… my right eye can do more and my left less? It's strange to describe.” Hearing Nozomi, Hinata gave her a questioning expression while speaking.
“So your right eye is more powerful?”
“Nothing like that. Erm, think of it like a math education?” Yeah that didn’t help Hinata figure out much, even Tomoka felt a little lost.
“Anyway, five minutes is up so we will figure it out soon. Any instructions for use?” Tomoka asked.
“Could you use a weak jutsu on that tree over there? Preferably a mid to long ranged one” Nodding Tomoka did the hand signs for air bullet jutsu. She could spit them out like a machine gun without any hand signs. She did them to give Nozomi a bit of prep ti.
A mont later Tomoka spat out a relatively weak wind bullet towards the tree. As soon the jutsu left her mouth Nozomi’s right mangekyou got to work. At the beginning it looked as if it did nothing but the further the bullet traveled the faster, bigger and denser it beca until with a loud bang it completely blew the trunk of the poor tree into smithereens.
“Well, I for sure didn’t add enough chakra for that to happen.” Tomoka said while reviewing her mory of the event. In a way it looked as if the jutsu had gained more chakra after being shot. However, that wasn’t it since it wouldn’t explain the increase in speed nor density.
“More, I think that is simply it. Your right eye makes things more. In the case of the jutsu, it beca faster and more powerful.” Said Hinata while thinking about it. It made sense to her, after all, Tomoka had described so of the abilities other mangekyou users had.
“Yeah I think that’s it but at the sa ti I feel like it isn’t the whole case” Said Nozomi while breathing a bit heavily. Her mangekyou had taken a lot of her chakra.
“If I had to guess, I think your eyes work more on the conceptual level than anything else.” Said Tomoka after thinking about it for a mont. It made so sense to her.
“Conceptual?” Hinata had to ask since it sounded a bit too strange to her.
“Yes, I think her eyes work by increasing or decreasing the concept within sothing. For example the concept of speed, and strength within the jutsu…” Tomoka was about to say more but a feeling of guilt assaulted her at the mont.
“What’s wrong?” Asked Nozomi with a bit of concern. With a sigh Tomoka continued speaking.
“Nothing. It's just that I got reminded about that ti. I was thinking about concepts that it had affected. The other example I was going to give was back then. I felt so much anger, hatred like no other. I am guessing the reason I was able to co back was because your left eye forcibly diminished those emotions. Then once I heard your voice and felt a bit of comfort your right heightened those.” Tomoka was feeling extrely guilty.
“I-if you hadn’t awakened your mangekyou at the ti… I think I might have killed you, I might have killed everyone” Tomoka began trembling with barely contained emotion. Anger, sadness, guilt that mont was a dark stain in her past that still haunted her.
