Downstairs, the duo froze.
Kelsie had parked the car and alighted before walking around it to see if she had scratched anywhere without knowing.
Totally forgetting Jett was inside, she saw what looked like a scratch in front of the front passenger door and bent over to inspect it. But the man chose that mont to alight as well.
Because he had glanced away from her for a split-second, he didn’t see her lower herself to the floor.
Hence, when he pushed the car door open, he slamd it into her, knocking her off-balance.
He imdiately acted on reflex, reaching out to grab the first thing he found to stop her from reaching the ground.
So here they were, his right hand wrapped around her as he drew her close to him.
The air was still for several seconds before he lowered his eyes to look at her pale face, realizing for the second ti that day, how stunning the woman in his arm was.
Seconds later, Kelsie got a grip on herself and gave the man a stern look, "What are you doing? Are you checking out?"
Instantly, he released his grip on her and scoffed nonchalantly.
"I’ve saved you twice today. That is not the tone you should be using with ."
Kelsie straightened up and tried to smoothen the rumpled part of her cloth as she nodded in agreent.
"I do agree you saved once today, but what gave you the cheek to say you’ve saved again when you’re the reason I almost fell just now?"
The man stared down at her coldly, "Are you seriously blaming ? If you didn’t get in front of the door when it was my turn to alight, none of this would’ve happened!"
The corners of Kelsie’s lips imdiately hooked up in contempt.
"Since you clearly saw standing in front of the door, why the. did you try to get out? You wanted to fall so you could catch ."
"Mr. Adler, are you trying to get close to ? Even if you were, how could you co up with such a brazen way to do so?"
Jett’s brows twitched repeatedly in anger, unable to think of any words to refute her with.
He had t a lot of people, but this woman brought out the anger issue he didn’t know he had.
At the end of the guy, he clenched his jaw tightly and snickered, "You just have to have the last say, don’t you?"
Kelsie pressed her lips together in contempt, "Whatever you’re trying to do, I want you to know beforehand that you’re not my type. Don’t try any harder than this."
Then she locked the car and strutted past him, leaving him to fu inwardly for the nth ti that day.
Watching from behind a car in the parking lot, Daniel Adler craned his ears to hear what they were saying all to no avail.
But given the look on Jett’s face when Kelsie stord off, he was wise enough to know things weren’t going their way, but this was enough progress.
Kelsie wouldn’t even look at his brother properly the other day at the theatre, but today she let him ride with her and didn’t throw that much of a fit at having him touch her.
As this thought crossed his mind, Jett suddenly felt like he was being watched and directly glanced at Daniel’s direction.
Almost imdiately, the threw himself down on the floor.
Knowing how paranoid his brother was, he crawled out from behind the car until he got to the elevator at the back of the building.
It was at this mont that Zade took Keira’s phone and spoke into it.
"It’s ti to move to the next phase of the plan, uncle."
The words had just rolled off his tongue when a hand snatched the phone from him.
Jesse looked away from him and turned to his siblings, saying seriously, "Mommy will be here in a few minutes. You shouldn’t be too happy when she cos in or she’d be suspicious."
Zade and Keira found sense in his words and scampered about to relieve the joy in their heart.
As soon as they were gone, Jesse turned his attention back to Daniel.
"Uncle, I saw the news today. Elderly Mr. Adler fell into comatose. Instead of being a matchmaker for your brother, shouldn’t you be worried about your grandfather?"
Daniel laughed curtly, his cheeks stretching into a proud grin.
"What? You watch the news too? I didn’t know what that was when I was your age. But Jett, watched the news two at your age. My goodness! You’re really my brother’s son!"
Seeing him mumble sothing underneath his breath, Jesse narrowed his eyes at him in confusion.
"Do you not love your grandfather as much as you love your brother? That is the only explnantion I can co up with for you not being worried about him."
Daniel glanced at the buttons inside the elevator and inputted for it to take him to the last floor before returning his eyes to the phone.
"I went to see my grandfather right after leaving your apartnt and played chess with him for three hours."
Jesse’s tense brows subconsciously relaxed. "Oh? Then why does the news say he is in comatose?"
The man shrugged slightly, "I don’t know, my brother must’ve planned it."
Before Jesse could say anything, he heard Kelsie inputting the passcode at the door and quickly ended the call.
Zade was the first to run to Kelsie as he slt the dicinal herb she had brought with her.
Whenever he saw a rare herb, his eyes would glisten happily and he wouldn’t stop smiling.
So even if he was partly smiling as he recalled Jett had been with her at Darki, Kelsie didn’t suspect anything.
She just massaged the top of his head and patted Keira and Jesse’s heads as they clung tightly to her leg.
As she walked past the small table by the right, her eyes naturally landed on it and she paused seeing the plates on it.
"Who ate and didn’t clear the table?"
"Not ." Without thinking twice, the triplets simultaneously answered.
It was at this mont that the nanny ca out of the kitchen.
Following Kelsie’s eyes, she revealed a small smile.
"It really wasn’t them, ma’am. Your close family friend who always visits must’ve forgotten to clear the table today."
Kelsie’s eyes dimd slightly.
"Family friend? What close family friend?"
