Bang!

Molly’s distracted gaze sharpened when the door to the room was suddenly kicked open and a familiar face stood in the doorway, leering at her.

Crossing her legs, she put her wrists together and shoved them toward him.

"A four-corner room. A table. Two chairs facing each other. Gray walls, and a room-temperature light hanging above . Aren’t you missing sothing?"

"Sothing tallic. Silver in color. Usually used when soone is being interrogated by the police. Yeah, I’ll just say it—handcuffs."

Maxwell didn’t retort and simply walked into the room, quietly closing the door behind him.

He kept his hands buried deep in his pockets until he reached the chair, pulled it out, and sat.

"So you ca to Lioren with Kelsie? Why didn’t you try to stop her? Wasn’t it clear enough that I’d take care of whatever problem was going on here?"

"If you had any issues or fears, you should’ve called instead of letting her co here!"

Molly tilted her head slowly to the side, quietly watching as his nostrils flared, a genuine anger burning in his eyes.

He looked like he wanted to tear her apart but was holding back because he wanted the truth.

It almost reminded her of how her father looked whenever her cousins beat her.

"No way." She chortled, lowering her head to hide her laugh.

The man’s brows perked up in annoyance. "You think this is a joke?"

Lifting her head, she sucked in her teeth, "How did you find out? I’ve been pretty tight-lipped about this particular information, and I intended to sit on it for as long as possible."

Maxwell blinked.

This woman... she was just as unpredictable as Lois and Kelsie. Was it a Langford family thing?

Watching him go mute, the corners of her lips curled into a smile and she leaned toward the table, probing him.

"It’s fine. You can be honest with . Whoever told you must’ve heard it from anyway because I killed the second person who knew."

Maxwell’s face hardened. "Where is Kelsie?"

Placing both hands on the desk, she huffed, "Goodness. Don’t tell you have in here because you think I did sothing to my cousin?"

When he said nothing, a wary sigh escaped her lungs and she ran both hands through her hair, scoffing, "Master Kensington, look at . I’m considered a traitor because I killed the Langford family head."

"If I return to them, they’ll tear to bits. But if I return with Kelsie, my life is secured. Do you honestly think I would’ve dared to co back here if it wasn’t with her?"

"If you hadn’t grabbed at that junction, soone else would’ve found . And I’d rather put the barrel of a Glock in my mouth than let a mber of the Langford family find ."

The mont she landed, the screeching sound of Maxwell’s chair as he pushed it backward filled the air.

He had heard exactly what he wanted.

Molinda Langford was infamously known as Luca Langford’s shadow.

She went wherever he wanted and did whatever he asked.

Anyone who disagreed with him was gone before they even knew what was happening.

She had an enormous success rate in her first ten years as people didn’t think she was soone to fear. Then they beca wary, and she grew more brutal.

Soone molded to be a loyal killing soldier wasn’t soone he trusted, especially not after she killed the leader of her own family.

Even a dog knew better than to bite the hand that fed it, no matter how brutal that hand was.

"I want you to be clearon one thing, Molinda. If I find out you did anything to her, I will personally take your life."

Molly’s lips twitched in bitter amusent as he began to walk to the door, then asked, "Your daughter and butler are missing, but you’re not going to ask what happened in that bungalow?"

He stopped, tilted his head to look at her, and chuckled, "Like you said, it doesn’t matter what you do. You’re either very finished or very alive."

Then he opened the door and walked out, leaving it ajar.

Alone, the teasing smile slipped from Molly’s face, and she pressed her fingers to her temple as the throbbing pain in her brain surged.

She had barely made it out of the bungalow before it exploded.

It was a solid building, but maybe because of the wood inside, everything caught fire within seconds.

The blast threw her farther back and she blacked out when she fell.

When she woke, she found Kelsie’s Glock a few ters away, tucked between the bushes.

She would’ve gone back to look for her, but the police were already on their way.

Being seen ant being taken into custody which ant Robert Figueroa and the Langfords knowing she was still alive.

"What happened?"

Her eyes snapped to the door in a haste to see Colton Reed there.

"He won’t tell anything, and I’m scared that the longer we stand by and do nothing, the faster my family gets condemned."

Hearing him, she got to her feet and scoffed.

"Bold of you to assu he’d put your needs before revenge for his daughter’s untily death."

"Daughter?" Colton frowned. "I didn’t know he had two children."

She glanced at him knowingly.

A few seconds passed before his eyes widened in disbelief.

"N-no. Kelsie can’t be dead. We saw each other just a day ago."

"You could see soone healthy one minute, and they’d be dead the next." She mumd, strutting past him.

When they arrived in the living room, they found Maxwell standing in front of the TV as a breaking news alert flashed across the screen.

"Breaking news. Earlier today, as you may recall, there was a protest in front of the Reed family house over holding Emily Hughes hostage."

"We now bring you live footage from the residence, where Military Commander Robert Figueroa was seen escorting Emily Hughes out of the premises, with soldiers loading mbers of the Reed family into a van."

Molly’s pupils dilated.

It was exactly as they suspected.

He created the problem and solved it himself, then he avoided addressing how he got inside.

Doing so would only lead netizens to speculate about the heroic thods he might’ve used, inflating his ego.

Annoyed, Maxwell lifted the remote, about to turn off the TV, when Colton suddenly stiffened and pointed at the screen, where a familiar figure in a black hoodie stood in a corner, staring straight into the cara.

"Isn’t that... Kelsie?"
